Alzheimer’s May Start Decades Before Diagnosis

Neurodegenerative brain changes begin by middle age, underscoring the need for life-long preventive brain maintenance.
It’s like heart disease: Heart Disease Starts in Childhood. No, it’s really like heart disease. Check out my next video Alzheimer’s and Atherosclerosis of the Brain (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/alzheimers-and-atherosclerosis-of-the-brain/).

  1. Wow, I always thought that dying from old age was far fetched. This is why it is so imperative that our children and teenagers understand how to live longer lives. Even though most of teenage thinking is short term, they can see the bigger picture with help. Instead of them hearing just to live now and having them doing whatever they want to do to their bodies, no matter how much damage it causes.

  2. I can't wait to see what the next video reveals. There are many that think that eating lots of fats are good for brain health because the brain is made up of fats.

  3. Dr. Greger, good piece on alzheimers but about dying of old age it's in a way the exact opposite. People don't naturally suffer from ANY deterioration or disintegration as they get older, then they die when they reach the Hayflick Limit, ie. of old age. That's what everyone wants to achieve, their maximum lifespan in perfect health and then a quick death. You should know well Dr. Greger they just throw something like cardiovascular disease on the death certificate when they don't have a clue, they put it because it sounds more medical and precise than "old age" or "natural causes". Dying of old age is a natural shutting down of all the organs of the body. Just because worms are then found eating them doesn't mean the worms are what killed them. I have noticed you selectively taking medical professionals at their word before when you should know better.

  4. i dont understand how body really works, im vegan and belive that a standard american diet causes most deaseses but i cant explain how my great grandmother that is in october this year 101 is still alive and thriving, i mean yes she is old and yes she gets sick sometimea but she doesnt have any chronic illness so how does that work, i mean im so glad shes alive but how can i put that into perspective meaning that she has eaten her whole life a high meat fat diet, thanks, great video!

  5. My late mother, a big consumer of animal products, developed either Parkinson's disease or Dementia with Lewy Bodies, but was treated for Parkinson's. I'm wondering that if she had become a vegan soon enough, could she have avoided this disease?

  6. Alzheimer's is just another form of prions disease. I realized that maybe a decade ago because my father and aunt had it and I was reading up and I had read up on other forms of prion's disease. They all work the same way. A protein folded the wrong way and it triggers others to do the same thing. While the primary cause is a genetic oops that allows some proteins to start folding the wrong way these proteins can be transferred by blood or transplants and once the proteins are in your body they trigger others to form. They are highly resistant to heat so surgery is likely to spread the disease. If you have these proteins in your body I don't know a bleep thing you can do about it. Given time it will kill you.

  7. I've been trying to get people to understand that one for decades: it's not old age that is our threat, it's disease that kills us off.
I'd say we are still a few decades off before people except this.

I commenti sono chiusi.
