  1. I think you have misquoted the essence of this study.
You have it backward more precisely.
    It isn't
"if you want to be an optimally healthy human" then "sleep 7 hours per night"
    Instead the statement is
"optimally healthy humans NEED 7 hours of sleep each night"

  2. 1. The darker the room, 7 hours might be optimal. But if the room is not so dark?
    2. What if you're stressed out or can't fall asleep for whatever reason? Can you pay off that debt using things like naps or specifically blocking out a day of the weekend, say a Saturday or Sunday, where you can actually get that excess sleep that you need to pay off that debt. Can you pay off that debt and start off from scratch, start off from zero for the following week?

  3. But the study was made of adults from 40 to 70 years and lasted 14 years… As I searched, the 7 hours of sleep fall in to the optimul range for the adults only and the younger you are, the more sleep you need. E.g. adolescents need 8-10, for school aged kids – 9-11.

  4. I wish I could find a follow up from Dr.Greger on this subject, it would be great to know in more depth why 7 hours is ideal…
