  1. So how much does Vegan Campout turnover and how much does Jordan and his family take? (That's just a leading question to more discussion about the movement. I don't see who it should be so hard or taboo to answer). Of a cult I once knew, someone once said, "they're a family/community when they want something from you, but they're a corporation when you want something from them". I'm afraid that the vegan movement's is heading in the same direction.

  2. There has to be a purpose to life outside and above suffering vs. pleasure. I think whether you have one or the other, there’s a reason we’re here. Maybe that goes for animals, too.

  3. Finally, a vegan who actually knows something about wildlife!!! What Ronnie said at 1:28:25 about wild animals is absolutely true, I have been observing animals (mainly in Africa) in the wild for many years now and suffering is probably just 1% of their lives. Most of the time 99% of the time wild animals just relax, eat and play with other animals in their group. It is interesting to note that most of the injuries I've seen are caused by animals fighting and sparing with their own kind. People must also remember, wild animals are far, far more robust than humans. Many wild animals can go without water and food for long periods of time, they can endure harsh weather (extreme heat and cold) as well.
The only real threat wild animals face are humans…take humans away and wild animals and nature will thrive!!!

I'm also a fan of David Benatar but I'm only an antinatalist for humans, definitely NOT for wild animals. At the moment Earth is the only planet we know with life; it's one of a kind. There is immense beauty in nature and wild animals…anyone (like George) who thinks it's not worth preserving is bonkers.

  4. I believe vegan activists should party and we need lots more campouts so we can spread some good vibes. Burn out is a big thing in the vegan movement and it’s ridiculous to think we should only be doing activism with all our free time, a balance is needed. Seems to me though some are just jealous when vegan companies and activists make money. We spend money on food and entertainment in lots of different areas and I’d sooner give my money to vegans and help them to further the movement. As for the meme that Ronnie Lee put out over the campout, it just caused a division within the movement, when instead he could’ve just asked some questions and had a conversation, this debate was his opportunity to apologise, but I certainly didn’t hear one forthcoming.

  5. Nice discussion.
For the vegan definition, I would define only as an avoidance of animal exploitation.
The moment you add harm reduction, you start the discussion of "good farms".
The moment you add "animal rights", you start the discussion of crop deaths and pesticides.

That's why exploitation for me should be the focused word to define veganism.

  6. I am 65 & am coming from Inverness for the 3rd year to the Campout. It the only way I get to meet so many vegans from all walks off life & helps me imagine what a Vegan World Will Look/Be Like. 🙂 🙂

  7. Think it through overnight, the biggest takeaway for me was when Ronnie, I think it was, said, "We don't veganism to become the norm, we want it to be better". Veganism is currently becoming far too "normal", & dominated by self-serving shits. In fact, I'd go as far as to write, is being lost to self-serving shits.

  8. Great discussion!
Although really feel for Jordan, poor lad has been a victim of so many unnecessary attacks on posts on social media by respected people in the movement…some of which have clearly caused a lot of damage. So i can see the frustration as he wants some answers from them

This year we will once again be taking even more non-vegan friends to campout, with a hope they get inspired, educated and have fun with the vegan community

    BRING IT ON! 🎉😊

  9. “Man should live without exploiting other animals; and to end the use of animals by man for food, clothing, commodities, work, hunting, vivisection and all other uses involving exploitation of animal life”.

    Leslie Cross

  10. Wasn’t it ronie and his wife that were 2 of the main attacks against vco last year 😅 so for him to not own up to that or apologise has definitely lost respect for me

  11. Last year it was on a hunting ground. So obviously hunt sabs had an issue with this. Then a lot of drama came of it and clearly Jordan didn’t like or agree so he banned them. Doesn’t look very good starting off saying ‘hunt sabs lied’ at the start.

  12. On the subject of euthanasia too, I spoke to Jordan directly as I was annoyed at Romesh using his platform to promote buying puppies, and in my point of view if your supporting the breeding of dogs then your in support of them being killed also. One dog bred is a shelter dog dead! And in Jordan’s eyes it’s not the same, it doesn’t matter cos humans breed also. So were not including other animals other than farm animals when it comes to VCO. Dogs don’t matter.

  13. Really appreciate George talking about environmentalism and efilism. I think there definitely should be more discourse within the community surrounding the subject, especially considering how many vegans are in favour of rewilding
