  1. I almost died from HYPER Vit.D – in my lab, the top was 100 (not 250 – I discovered that different labs have different figures), and mine was at 232! Not EVERYONE needs to add Vit.D… some of us don't process it properly.

  2. You can live in Hawaii and still be deficient in D …they still use that as a model? Graves disease for instance can bring your D quite down…Its just an example!

  3. What about the data(Irish study??) that shows that
people that have a high vitamin D level do better with respiratory infections or actually have less respiratory infections? There is also info that shows people with darker color skin have more deficiency. Also, 42% of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. Is that true? One asian study said that individuals with low vitamin D were 10.8 times more likely to die of COVID-19. Is it true that virtually
all of our cells have receptors for vitamin D? Is vitamin D a Modulator for our immune
    system?

  4. So what your saying is that even though I only supplement 400 IU daily during winter months I might still be on the low end in a test. Guess I might increase it a bit, in particular because of the pandemic…

  5. 100% likes.
your like my grandmother i honor you, and you honor yours, and i honor mine saying your like her; ; Unconditional truth. Huge love for others

  6. The amount of Vit.D you need depends on your weight.
    per 10 kg you need to take 1000 i.E. to get 100 ng/ml !!

  7. Be sure to turn on notifications so you don't miss any new videos. Videos come out M, W, F, but we have a special one going up this Sunday afternoon. -NF Team

  8. It’s interesting that my labs are low-18- no matter how much I take or walk in the sun. What I have noticed is I become unable to sleep and develop a lump in the soft tissue of my thumbs when I take vit D for an extended time. Not sure how to handle this. My endocrinologist is clueless.

  9. I went to the dr about 4 months ago. I'd been having issues that actually scared me…like shortness of breath, fatigue, seriously bad heart palpitations and dizziness. The dr sent me for labs and then called me within a couple hours. B12 was normal, but My vit d levels were 12. And my iron saturation was 7%. Optimal vit d levels are 30+ and iron saturation levels between 25%-35%. So that explained a lot. I have been plant based for a few years now and I've never felt better otherwise, but I work in the basement of my home and dont get a lot of sun exposure. And obviously I'm not eating enough food to also maintain those levels. I now supplement and my levels are back to normal. The palpitations are minimal and the shortness of breath and fatigue are gone. So while I will always promote a wfpb diet as being the best diet one could possibly be on, I would also suggest monitoring stuff like that regularly.

  10. I am curious, how well do serologic levels of vitamin reflect actual body stores of a fat-soluble vitamin like vitamin d? Perhaps obese people have more vitamin d stored in their fat and require less supplementation.

  11. I have IBD and Autoimmune heppitaites 50,000 IU of D3 with some k2 dose the best every know and then for a whole week
my doctor insured me that D3 poisoning happens when a healthy person takes 60,000 IU for three months the funny thing is when summer started and the quarentine started I stopped taking it when I had Covid-19 infection and the only thing that helped me beside porridge is D3 a week and the symptoms stopped even though I have been testing positive on PCR test for a month

  12. Love all these bizarre anecdotal storied that all say something different and all conflict? YouTube is just full of fact and content free BS comments in these areas of health … and everything else of course, but health is particularly bad and dangerous. Unless Dr. G starts to tell people not to post these kind of troll comments, or starts to delete them how he is different from any old QUACK?

  13. I took 9000 per day for months and my levels didn't change. Because of bile gallbladder issues. It's important to take emulsified micellized vitamin D that can be absorbed regardless of the status is your gallbladder and your small intestine. After taking 5000 of this micellized vitamin D my levels shot up to above 80 in a couple of months.

  14. I think doctors, health care professionals and scientists really need to explain to the public the difference in science, real science, and just trolling for statistical data that might some some correlation but leads to no explanation to how the body or anything else works. A lot of what Gregor talks about are just studied that comb through lots of data … maybe good, maybe bad data and looking for some kind of statistical inference. This may be good for hints about where to look to find out how the body works, but it is often questionable for drawing conclusions or making any policy or behavioral decisions.

  15. Maybe the people who took too much vitamin D and pushed into the right part of that U-shaped graph were fanatics that also took all kind of other supplements or did weird things thinking they were helping their health. This is very dangerous territory for obsessives and fanatics.

  16. The assay imprecision seems to strongly undermine the entire hypothesis. How to know the optimal level, or indeed the actual level for optimal health.

  17. Make sure to take Vitamin-K2 together with Vitamin-D. The only risk with overdosing Vitamin-D is hypercalcification, luckily Vitamin-K2 removes excess calcium from the blood and moves it to the bones. Vitamin-K2 is very safe and is just as important as Vitamin-D for longevity.

  18. Vitamin D moderates many genes, it decreases the expression of certain negative genes like TGF (tumor growth factor) and prevents cancer.

  19. Wait. You live on the 14 floor, and you put your baby in a cage outside the window? WTF? Yea do that now and see how long you have that kid…

  20. I found that really helpful. I would like to know if it's ok to double the dose and take it every other day.

  21. im deffinatly not taking any more supplements lol having to take b12 is a fking joke, unacceptable to have to take supplements in 2020, or ever.. cant wait till they fix it

  22. am i suprised that sick people dont get enough sun? no.. the only people getting enough sun are people who deliberately sunbake everyday because THEY CARE ABOUT GETTING ENOUGH VITAMIN D, this is why i hate science

  23. Do I need also vitamin H together with vit. D ? Many on the web are stating that vit. D without vit. H causes calcium to deposit on the wall of your veins instead of into the bones. Is it true ?

  24. Hello.Did you analyze the study "mortality among vegetarians and comparable non-vegetarians in the United Kingdom"? What can you say about it?

  25. Consistent daily doses in excess of 10,000 iu would be too much vitamin D. I guess my 2,500 iu daily dose is all good then.

  26. Ok, maybe, but supplementation also shown to reduce bone density in an apparently linear amount to dosage in the study: Effect of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation on Volumetric Bone Density and Bone Strength

  27. As a retired nutritionist, I had a huge Vitamin "D" deficiency, as measured by blood test levels in 2014 at a VA Hospital in my area. So I read-read-read, and came up with a solution for myself ( and myself ONLY!):
~10,000 IU Vitamin D-3, p.d., for 1 month. Then I dropped the dosage to 5,000 IU as a maintenance. It is to be noted that I stand 6'7" and weight 310#, so the build-up in my fatty tissues takes about 1 month to accomplish this. I also discovered something significant in my researches; the maximum dosage for Vitamin D-3 is 25,000 iu b.i.d for 3 months. This would lead to some nasty side effects, such as vomiting, diarrhea, and various liver problems (please read about this yourself.
    ~RE: corona 19 >>> Vitamin D-3 is only one component of a multi-vitamin preventative (I STRESS – NOT A CURE!! a PREVENTATIVE ONLY!!). I use:
~Vitamin E 400 IU p.d., with Beta- , Gamma- , and delta-tocopherols, is a complete Vitamin. This is also Fat-soluble, as is the Vitamin D-3.
~Along with the Vitamin E, I also take selenium, 200 mcg p.d., as it works synergistically with Vitamin E, as a "Kick-starter" and improves bone density and immune function.
~Finally I also take Vitamin "A" Complex, to include alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, cryptoxanthin and lutein in one dose — one softgel. RESULT?
~~Since, February of 2020, I personally have had NO side effects from the higher dosages, and no colds, no sniffles, coughs, elevated temperature, or physical effects from these supplements.
    * * *
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS — the above is only my own personal experience, after doing intense, mind-bending research on my own body versus the criminal deficiencies recommended by RDA.
My personal dosages are higher, because I am a little larger than average. My holistic background has enabled me to make my own decisions for my health and, with supervision of many V.A. MD's, I am working with their accepted guidelines of prophylaxis for Covid — and they visit with me every 2-3 months to monitor blood levels and vital signs.
So this is not totally unsupervised. Even my dietitian friend at the V.A. is impressed — but she warns also to stay well-hydrated, and consume REAL food as well, within "reasonable guidelines" — whatever that means!!
This is my $.02 for today. IT IS NOT A PRESCRIPTION!! It is what I do, after exhaustive reading and research. If you are too lazy for the reading, then please DISREGARD this entire post — it will not serve you well.
    Peace

  28. Hello Dr Michael, I've changed my diet to plant based, (influenced by The fabulous Rich Roll), I recently did blood tests and my vit d3 is 7 which is insufficient. I've been taking a supplement of 5000iu, only after I purchased them did I notice that they're to be taken 1 every 5 days. It's not very convenient but now that I have a whole bottle of them, I'm giving them a go, I would really appreciate your opinion on this dosage. Thank you for your time and all your phenomenal work.
