Friday Favorites: Does Marijuana Cause Strokes and Heart Attacks?

The temporary quintupling of heart attack risk associated with cannabis smoking may be due to the increased heart rate, blood pressure, and carbon monoxide levels.

62 Risposte a “Friday Favorites: Does Marijuana Cause Strokes and Heart Attacks?”

  1. Smoking is bad but how about ingesting it orally – gummies, tinktures, or in any other form that does not include inhaling smoke in your lungs?

  2. I don’t smoke drink alcohol do anything drug related this is pointless it’s obvious drug addicts die that doesn’t mean if your body locks up with crushing chest pain is a drug addict what a pointless video I didn’t learn anything here

  3. Does stress kill, this is much more likely cause of stroke – why eat healthy and take drugs none taking drugs is remotely healthy to say the least

  4. ok. sort of interesting but many people use marijuana without smoking it. They might even also take / consume isolated compounds from marijuana – THC.

It would have been useful for these studies to include multiple methods of consumption.

We know that people have consumed weed in a number of ways and yet all those studies only look at one method.

  5. the toxic longterm BRAIN change is harmful to the inner being . Prevents individual spiritual evolution, contrary to some beliefs. Experientially, It’s not “clean”, as ever user knows. Gives you novelty (toxic response), and in exchange strips you of normal function/navigation = a different person, in a different place.

  6. Are there any studies that specify the difference between the effects of natural/organic cannabis and genetically modified cannabis? Or maybe even particular strains?

  7. 👉 I would be interested in research which studies the effect of methods of delivery other than smoking, as have several other posters/questioners, . Even inhaling vapor may be different. 🙃

  8. It would be cool to see a study where they stress people out majorly and then get half of the cohorts high and the other half on a placebo and see which helps with stress the most. Of course some may argue having a third group practice diaphragmatic breathing…

  9. I bet it's less of an issue for people on a well planned whole Food vegan diet especially when they get lots of vitamin c, beta-carotene, and sulforaphane in their diet, as well as lots of vasodilating foods like beets and fennel.

  10. Good information. I’ve never smoked anything but there are many that won’t stop smoking knowing that this causes so many health complications.

  11. Everybody knows weed makes you hungry and retarded. When you're retarded, you don't worry as much about WHAT or how much you're eating and drinking. My ex would binge on junk food when she was high and often wash it down with booze. I often had a sickly gf on my hands the next morning so to fix her headache she would smoke more weed. While she was busy getting high and rehydrating I was lifting weights and looking for a new gf lol

  12. Consuming edibles are best. You get the medical benefits without damaging lungs or heart. It just takes longer to get into the system.

  13. No stress causes strokes!!!!
spice, k2,sprayed potpourri sold legally. Causes heart attack and strokes. This guys sounds like he about to grab his skateboard and shreds the nar..

  14. Disappointed at the title. as it made me want to watch it, but would not have bothered if it had said "Does Smoking Marijuana…..?", because I've never smoked and never will. Smoking anything would almost certainly not be good for you. Yes, we test, because Science. But title appropriately, please.

  15. Cannabis is healthy when using vaporizers and edibles. The reason cannabis users have higher chances of stroke and heart attack is because they normally get munchies and eat a bunch of junk food.

  16. How about edibles? Is it from the detrimental effects of smoking or the cannabis itself causing this, irregardless of intake method?

  17. Im not condoning or promoting marijuana, but when I was a regular user I quit smoking and started doing tinctures. Edibles are iffy because knowing how much your body can take and a comfortanle amount can be difficult. If you were to try edibles, I'd strongly suggest starting small and working your way up. Again, I haven't used in years but I'm for decriminalizing it. Just to specify, this is me speaking as always not a doctor.

  18. What about if you don't smoke? I use a dry herb vaporizer. Not to be confused with the vape liquid that contains additives like vitamin e, which are known to be toxic.

"Vitamin E acetate is an oily chemical commonly added to THC vaping liquids to dilute or thicken them; the substance has been acknowledged as a potential toxin of concern by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), due to its ability to remain in the lungs for long periods of time"

  19. Seeing lots of people who use marijuana in the hospital for stroke-like symptoms that sometimes are permanent. These people also have cerebral artery changes.

  20. I’m 62. Never drank or did drugs of any kind. I saw another video on YouTube where some actual elder Rastafarians said that the young people have it all wrong. They want smoke it to get high. Smoking it is damaging to the body. But the way to get the medicinal effects is by eating it. That is what the old Rastafarians said.

  21. If any of these premises were true, you would see a higher rate of stroke and/or heart attack in areas with a multiple generational history of marijuana use. I.e. it is part of the culture, so a plurality of the population uses marijuana on a regular basis, over decades. But you don't. The rate of stroke in patients within areas like Humboldt County and Santa Cruz County are well within the norms, despite a plurality of the people using marijuana for roughly 70 years. This suggests the stroke occurrence is almost certainly tied to other behavior.

  22. Unsubscribed. these studies are flawed from the start, as most are. No control over other factors that are quite possibly the cause of the problem. You as a doctor should know better.

  23. What about just eating small doses of it in edible form? Perhaps it’s just the burning of all material is carcinogenic and not the actual flower….

  24. Interesting and need more on ingesting marijuana. There are numerous factors that effect arterial function, and the user's state of health is an important baseline factor. The amount used is another. The test to get to angina state is not exactly the chill state usually experienced with marijuana, so the stress factor is much less. Further interesting factor is what is eaten at the time of using marijuana. The munchies seem to be ravenous and indiscriminate often and the ingestion of sat fat and seed oils would indeed decrease arterial function. As well as is mentioned other substances used too with marijuana.
I think marijuana does effect lungs and heart rate and blood pressure by such research, and pro rata to how much is used. But how much that interim effect causes more serious outcomes depends on other cofactors as above. Keeping one arterial function good with sound eating is a solid baseline. Life is for living, but if you have other factors, watch it I guess is the way to go. Unless you want to go – early… 😉

I commenti sono chiusi.
