How apropos! Just yesterday I was researching the proper way to freeze beans. I was doing this in an effort to both get more beans in my diet and save money. By buying only dried beans you can save significantly over buying canned. I cook my beans in an Instant pot so it’s super easy. I’m going to be making more chickpeas in the air fryer as a healthy snack, as well as more homemade hummus. BTW, homemade chocolate hummus with black beans, cacao powder, and a little maple syrup and salt is delicious!
So !! I guess the “Beans Beans, good for the heart…” rhyme we used to sing as kids wasn’t just for laughs!
I stopped for a bean burrito just last night:)

First there are no RCT that show his "daily dozen" eaten every day does anything. It's just speculation because some of the daily dozen have RCT that show improvement in some diseases. We work for a living so who has time to even eat the " daily dozen" everyday? Second who eats legumes 3 times a day? Who has the time to prepare legumes to eat three times a day and for a fact who really wants to eat legumes 3 times a day?
So could beans improve CVD Cerbreal vascular disease???

small question, uhhh, why is frozen french fries at # 10, just behind collards?
Try chilli 'sin carne' with red kidney beans stewed in tomato sauce, onion, herbs and spices. Add some chopped carrot, sliced cabagge or other greens.
This is a Portuguese dish (Feijoada, from 'feijao' for bean) I veganised, originally with pork. It could also be made with white beans. We had it with plain white rice.
Other meat dished I veganized was chickpeas stew in fresh tomato, onion, herbs and spices, sesasonal vegetables and macarroni or penne pasta.
The only vegan dish I had growing up was wild mushroom stewed with potatos.
Some day I'm going to write a recipe book with this veganized Portuguese dishes to help people transition to vegan without missing favourite dishes.

In the first chart they compare raw vegetables and fruits with dried beans. Since cooked beans triple in size or something like that the figures should be divided by 3. Also cooking and soaking reduced lots of nutrients in them.

Yes, but who eats dry beans? 😀Caned beans are in the chart much higher. But I got the point, they are good food.

I can not buy steel cut oats but just unsweetend oats but is that still oke and can you eat 1 1/2 cup everyday? Can you microwave your berries with the oats or do they lose vitamines etc?
