DESCRIPTION: Multilevel marketing companies accused of using exaggeration and pseudoscience to promote potentially dangerous products such as Metabolife and Hydroxycut by designing studies that appear to purposely mislead consumers.

I’ve previously touched on these two liquid supplements in Is Noni Juice Good For You? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/is-noni-juice-good-for-you/) and Is Mangosteen Juice Good For You? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/is-mangosteen-juice-good-for-you/)<br />
Other beverages to avoid include alcohol (Breast Cancer and Alcohol: How Much Is Safe?, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/breast-cancer-and-alcohol-what-much-is-safe/), soft drinks (Is Sodium Benzoate Harmful?, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/is-sodium-benzoate-harmful/), yerba maté (Update on Yerba Maté, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/update-on-yerba-mate/), and kombucha (Is Kombucha Tea Good For You?, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/is-kombucha-tea-goodfor-you/).

I prefer water (Does a Drink of Water Make Children Smarter?, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/does-a-drink-of-water-make-children-smarter/), white tea (Antimutagenic Activity of Green Versus White Tea, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/antimutagenic-activity-of-green-versus-white-tea/), and hibiscus tea (Better Than Green Tea?, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/better-than-green-tea/).

40 Risposte a “Safety of Noni and Mangosteen Juice”

  1. what??? so are u saying that aloevera ,noni+other fruit juices are unhealthy up to the point of destroying your liver? if a fruit ppl usually eat is unhealthy then whats safe to eat?

  2. 'Pseudoscience' i feel is an irrelevant term to use. Afterall 'real science' is best guess, other possibilities can and do and will always remain. Good video.

  3. I did not hear a single thing about Noni juice in this. Why was it grouped amongst all those others? I usually admire these blogs but this time I will not forward or post further as I do not agree. Noni is moderation has proven very effective to eliminate my wife's fibromyalgia symptoms and other inflammatory responses. You dont' drink a bottle, just a few ounces. Usually the Doctor backups his statements with clinical studies, here he does not.

  4. Dr. Can you do a video just on Mangosteen fruit. It is known as Queen of fruit, and has Xanthones, way more antioxidant then any other fruit, juice, fruit, or pill….

  5. To be fair, this appears to condemn noni or mangosteen containing energy drinks or diet aids, not noni or mangosteen juices, per se. I await a comprehensive expose of the dangers of raw whole aloe vera juice, as the breezy dismissal of that substance is likely confusing to not just a few of us!

  6. Title has little to do with video, title is specific/ video is in general/ waste of time for someone looking for specifically what the title says.

  7. There are so many companies out there, with some being more reputable than others: this video leads me to believe any ill effects were due to consuming a poor quality product.

  8. I used hydroxycut before it was banned. It was perfectly safe to use as directed. I recall that some overweight out of shape major league baseball player died while overusing the stuff in high temperatures, which lead to the ban. It seems many perfectly safe products are banned, so they can open up markets for dangerous pharmaceuticals to take their place, take for instance Tryptophan.

  9. Poisonous plants are the norm and even medicinal plants have a very short gap between their effective concentration and their lethal concentrations.

  10. I am so thankful to Dr. Greger for sorting through all the studies and back stories that most of us would have no clue how to find, let alone understand. Thanks to Nutrition Facts we are able to learn what to do and what to avoid by just dedicating about 12 minutes per week to watching these tremendous videos. THANK YOU Dr. Greger!!!!

  11. It's the juice that is harmful, not where it comes from. (although extract can be yet more harmful)

There are better ways to stay healthy than taking undertested, not really researched (as in peer-review) chemicals. Yes, even if it's natural, it can kill you.

  12. Aloe vera is also undertested, but there's way less evidence of it being harmful. Orally it has supposedly some beneficial metabolic effects.

There's decent evidence for it being fine topically for burns (not sunburn), herpes sores and psiorasis.

Of course that doesn't extend to every product containing aloe vera extract.

  13. When I lived in China, in the springtime I could always get fresh mangosteens. They taste so good, but I've never heard of anyone trying to sell the juice. If you ever get a chance to try the fresh fruit, try it.

  14. i used to order noni juice online from a MLM company and it cost roughly $90 for i liter of juice. It also contained various other friuts like small amounts of pear and apple. It was heavily marketed and i ordererd it numerous times thinking it would help me with my general health and wellbeing but was left dissapointed and obviously out of pocket.

I commenti sono chiusi.
