Targeting Angiogenesis to Lose Weight

Expanding body fat releases blood supply-generating factors that may end up hooking up tumors, too.

So, Which Foods Are the Most Anti-Angiogenic? (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/which-foods-are-the-most-anti-angiogenic). Watch the next video to find out.

This video was based on research I did for How Not to Diet (https://nutritionfacts.org/book/how-not-to-diet/) that unfortunately had to be cut due to space constraints. 32 Risposte a “Targeting Angiogenesis to Lose Weight”

  1. The connection of angiogenesis to cancer development was something I've known for a while, but the connection with obesity and weight gain/loss was new to me! Great video!

  2. But angiogenesis is one of the holy grails of increasing exercise performance because it helps transport more blood to the working muscles. Are you saying that some of those foods will be stopping the desired adaptations after a workout???

  3. Yeah. Except angiogenic drugs work by limiting the transport of nutrients but still allow oxygen transport. I just finished a 2-year course of chemo and another year after that of angiogenesis. I can assure you that you can make plenty of fat but not muscle. My weight skyrocketed while exercise and a plant-based whole foods diet did nothing to help. Now that I’m off the drugs my weight is finally beginning to decline as the last of the drug’s effects leaves my body. I think this view is extremely short sighted… talking part of the truth and embroidering wishful thinking on top of half-facts.

That said, I am a long time follower of your work and follow the principles laid out in the books. But my eyes were opened to the realities of cancer and what to do to survive. I would certainly NOT pursue angiogenesis! The day to day, minute to minute reality doesn’t line up with any ties to healthy weight loss. I strongly believe the benefits of proper food choices lies along another path.

Too many "cures" for obesity involve making the body so dysfunctional that you are simply too sick to maintain body weight. I call it using disease to create the illusion of health…

  4. Wanna lose weight? Hold yourself accountable. This is getting ridiculous with the excuses being pushed.

Over abundance of food and not moving enough.

Calories in vs calories out… it's that simple… always has been.. and always will be… videos like this do nothing to help and instead further the excuses.

  5. Hmm, if the fat tissue is most angiogenic, wouldn’t all the non-fatty tissues suffer more if you were treated with anti-angiogenic drugs or diet? The fatty tissue might take up most of the available angiogenic factors to support itself and thereby starve/suffocate all the more desirable tissues, as their blood supply is reduced?

  6. Regarding the audio issues. I think you've accidentally set the audio to automatically adjust volume. It's called different things depending on the software (auto gain control, auto volume, etc.) and can often be found in the settings of whatever you're recording into. It should be set to "off" because it's causing a lot of volume issues in your recording.

If you want my recommendation for a microphone upgrade here are two options I'd highly recommend.

Option 1 is the Elgato Wave 3 microphone which by default has a pretty good "limiter" built into it which prevents distortion even if your voice gets very loud. It's super simple to use but will be a great upgrade for you. It's "plug and play" which means no need to install anything on the computer. Just plug in the USB. Their microphone arm is also great so I'd grab that as well. Getting the mic close to you is very important. Total together is 250 bucks or so.

Option 2. As an even better alternative for your room there, pair up the Elgato Wave XLR interface (fancy word for adapter – one side is XLR for the mic and one side is USB for your computer) with a Shure SM58 microphone which will then also reduce the room noise and echo – if you speak close to it (2 to 6 inch away).

This option has the exact same volume limiter built into the interface. Basically option 2 the same thing as option 1 just with a separate microphone instead of one built in.

The reason I say this is better for your room is that option 1 is a type of microphone that's slightly better suited to a room with some audio "treatment" on the walls (usually this is foam that is used to reduce echo or "reverb"). – Whereas the Shure is a type of microphone that is better suited to use up close, which will naturally get more of you and less of the environment noise and echo etc.

Both options are great so choose whichever you prefer. But if you don't mind the mic up close then option 2 is definitely even better.

And quick tip with any microphone – position the mic in front of you but to the side so you're not shooting air directly into it which can cause pops or "plosives". (In other words the microphone should point towards you – but you shouldn't point exactly towards the microphone.) – As a bonus this also means the audience can see your face because the microphone isn't in the way.

If you go for option 2 then you'll still want the microphone arm and you'll also also need an XLR male to female cable if one isn't included with the mic. WBC "quad balanced" and Mogami "quad balanced" cables are the best option (either one is good as they are essentially the same).

Total cost is 400 bucks or so for this second setup.

All of it is "plug and play" into your PC or Mac. The USB cable you'll need is included with the Elgato XLR interface.

A few things to know when using the second option. 1. If all the lights are red that means you're muted. Touch the top of the interface to toggle the mute. 2. Long press the center button for 2 seconds to disable the 48v power as it's not needed for this Shure microphone. (There's a 48v indicator LED on the Elgato) 3. If you're seeing red lines appear on the interface as you speak, turn the input volume down until the red disappears when you speak. 4. There's also a headphone volume right on the Elgato device so just be aware of which one you're adjusting.

If you get an upgrade remember to still turn off the "auto volume" in whatever software you're recording into.

    I hope that helps! 😊

  7. I never cease to be amazed when listening to the information in these videos. I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I have perfect bloodwork and take no medications. I plan on keeping it that way.

  8. I wonder how we know there is 60 000 miles (100 000 km) of blood vessels in the adult human body, obviously nobody counted…

  9. I hope we have the benefit of you Dr Greger and your marvellous pursuit of truth , for a long long LONG time. Love your work! Thank you very much ❤ much love- Catie -Melbourne Australia

  10. Idiocy… does not work that way. We want better blood supply and flow. That 2 hours of cardio you do a day, Dr.Greger boosts blood vessel formation to the max. So you gonna stop aerobic activity or ?
This same approach to the other anti nutrients in fruit n veggies n legumes is what keeps people on the carnivore diet.
Try again. Your explanation does not explain the emporical field data properly at all.
Probably why you don't recommend raw foods even though a RAW WFPB reversed cancer 10-15% faster than a cooked WFPB diet as I heard from Dr Brenda Davis. Look at the evidence. You lost the evidence for fantastical theory.
There has to be more going on – we just don't know. Otherwise berries would decrease cognitive function not increase it – so much a blood and nutrient flow concern.
The body modulates in a very clever way and seems to do targeting and knows to try to be healthy instead of just randomly assailing parts with hormones all across the board. No one knows how. But Greger's explanation is not even possible for how plants help us heal.

  11. fat tissue cells and tumors both cause vessel development. obesity creates the infrastructure for tumor cells to circulate. dont be fat to survive cancer
