100 Risposte a “Testosterone Boosting Tips & Myths | Dr Greger”

  1. Great idea for a mini-series! I'm going to be on deep-testosterone HRT for the rest of my life, so I don't have much worries about low T – but my partner experienced a very big drop in sex drive around 6 months after going vegan with me. We have not confirmed with medical tests if this could be related to testosterone levels…

  2. I love Dr Greger. His smile is infectious and he was so amazing to watch speak in St Paul earlier this year. He was kind enough to talk to me and sign my copy of his book How Not to Die for me. I feel like he's the kind of guy that would always be available to help answer any question you could have about health and wellness and really enjoys it. Thanks Emily!

  3. In your blog, the effect of a high fat meal on testosterone concentrations hours later is discussed, but the study you cite does not even mention testosterone concentrations. Only sperm quality is mentioned. Did you cite the wrong one by accident? I want to see the data…especially because saturated fat is positively associated with T in many of the studies I have looked at.

  4. thank you for posting this honest video about testosterone. my testosterone must be off the chart because i need to shave twice a day. also it proves testosterone does nothing for belly fat because i got a stomach like a hippopotamus.

  5. It would be great if you did a trans inclusive episode of this. for example, how trans men can increase testosterone and how trans women can lower their testosterone through a plant based diet.

  6. Fuck Yeah!
    Nettle Root Powder
If you're Vegan and you take nettle root and pine pollen. I warn you. That shit will Build that Zero Fucks Animal in you. Don't Forget to Lift.

  7. You know, I never actually watch videos from vegans when they promise the solution to anything because in summary it's basically always: Go vegan dummy, tee-hee

  8. Emily, thank you for your amazing videos. I have a friend who is newly vegan and eating soylent. I honestly feel like this product is too good to be true and most likely going to do more harm than good. Can you make a video about this someday? It is technically a vegan product but it is a all food replacement and I am concerned it has a lot of false promises behind it.

  9. Potentially a good conversation to have BUT I was getting annoyed by watching the Dr weave and bounce back and forth. Next time ask him to sit still so I can finish watching the video.

  10. My thoughts are that the primary reason that "competitive bodybuilder in the weeks leading up to a competition" have such low testoerone levels is 100% related to their unhealthy low bodyfat levels and the severe calorie restriction. And the studies he cites to carbohydrate manipulation isn't on competitive bodybuilders in the weeks leading up to a competition. Obviously I'm a fan of whole carbohydrate based diets from fruits, root vegetables, and whole grains, but that was not an apples to apples comparison on the topic.

  11. I don't believe that training does not improve testosterone levels. Overtraining does not improve it, it makes it worse. But normal training does improve it. I don't have science, but it does. And not just for someone who doesn't move, so that chronic inactivity makes T levels low and then training normalises it.

  12. I am a veteran that has PTSD from combat and which caused hypogonadism. They don't want to treat me with hormone replacement therapy because I am young and it my cause me not to be able to have kids. I have been looking for every method out there. I probably do overtrain because the workout help manage me stress and stay off of Anti depression medicine. I have been tweaking my diet to loose belly fat because that can increase testosterone production. Any advice to make the next jump to vegan.

  13. I dont take this Dr Greger guy too seriously when hes doing stupid cardio bunny shit on a treadmill instead of bodyweight compound exercises heavy lifting compound lifts.
he looks weaker than bite size vegan.

  14. Being a man who does regular weight training and natural body building I have to point out the correct and misleading portions of this video.
    First the accurate.
1 Yes over training and the associated stress can lower your testosterone but the same is true of any excess stress training or not. We stimulate muscle growth when training but the muscles actually grow while we are sleeping.
2 A high carb meal after an intense workout can in fact lower your cortisol levels, it is not the carbs themselves but the resulting insulin that neutralizes cortisol production.
    Now for the inaccurate stuff.
1 Weight training can in fact increase testosterone production long term, this is especially true if you do heavy compound lifts like deadlifts and squats. There have been plenty of studies that have confirmed this. The trick is to train but not overtrain, if you are lifting with intensity for more then 45 min a day then you are in danger of overtraining, and if you are not taking at leased one day a week away from the weight rack that is another warning sign.
2 The best way to boost testosterone with diet is not carb loading but rather intermittent fasting which can nearly double your testosterone within a matter of hours, this really does work I do it all the time.
3 Not sure what study Dr Gerger is making reference to, all of the data I have seen said that high fat diets offer more testosterone then high protein or high carb, I guess that is still a subject in debate.
The one thing that is not even in debate though is a reduction in body fat for the VAST majority of people will increase testosterone considerably, the only exceptions to that being people that already have single digit BMI scores, interestingly though if you get your body fat down too low your testosterone falls just like an obese person making the relationship of body fat and testosterone an inverted U equation, another reason why natural body builders testosterone falls so low before a show when they are burning every ounce of fat they possibly can to create that shredded muscle look, and in the off season they put on some fat so they can build more muscle.
Overall I have to give Dr Greger a thumbs down on this video, he certainly has access to all the information that I do but he chooses to present it in a bias misleading manner to further the agenda, I think someone can make a great case for veganism without having to bend the truth like that.

  15. So the amount of testosterone in both vegans and meat eaters are the same but the effect of testosterone is higher in vegans because of the ratio of test/ estro ???? is this correct? so actually the vegans are in therms of muscle building better, can i conclude that out of this?

  16. What if one views masturbation as a way of "winning" because it isn't dependent upon anyone else to get off? If viewed in that way, does it boost T?

  17. Also when you say a high fat meal what percent are we talking about here? 30% plus or 10-20%, because they say that having 20% fat in your diet boost your testosterone, because fat is essential to hormones, but like with anything if you get much over that the effects will be deleterious. I guess you did partially answer my previous question regarding why the testosterone drops down to 75%. That can also be due to them being off the roid cycle, and all the stress of dropping weight so quickly, but lots of cardio, and their ridiculous diet in general.

  18. Can you ask Dr. Greger, whether the study that went over the sex includes "safe" sex, that is those that are using particularly prophylactics a.k.a. as condoms? Or just "unprotected" sex, this makes a big difference in my humble opinion.

  19. I have to ask because I'm concerned about your health, as compared to Doctor Greger you appear to be gaunt (too thin), is there an obvious reason for this as you may be ill or have been in your past?

  20. So if testosterone boosting sex (unlike masturbation) for a male is compared to winning a competition does it mean that the female is the "loser"? And what does it mean for gay sex? 😂

  21. SHBG is higher in vegans, less free testosterone is bad because it's not available for other functions, like muscle growth

  22. How much fat is too much fat? I'm male and have been on a low fat diet (below 15%) for about a month and I'm experiencing LOTs of symptoms associated with low testosterone. I'm going on 20% to see if there's any change.

  23. bodybuilders usually go into very low caeb diets before a competition so maybe the low testosterone they found in them is not from the training itself.

  24. Hi Emily. As a plant based endurance athlete I've sometimes struggled with T while training and racing hard. Have recently been looking into foods and natural supplements that can boost T. Any chance of another video with the Doc on this subject? Thanks

  25. So this doctor is saying that a high-carb diet raises testosterone and a high-Fat diet lowers testosterone? I thought the opposite!!!

  26. Really interesting video. I've been vegan for over a year and I started having cold showers around the same time and for a while now if I feel like masturbating in a cold shower, it happens just fine. Plant power! 🌱😜👍

  27. The reason bodybuilders' T drops before competitions is because they are running a serious caloric deficit, probably low fat too.

  28. does the extra testosterone in vegan that's locked up in sexual hormone binding globulin get released during sex? What's the result of the bound "extra " T?

  29. Because women generally have lower sex drive than men, being a very sexually healthy whole food, vegan male is kind of problematic: we spend our very long lives needing like 5 women just to keep up with us. Being a whole food, vegan male from a sexual perspective is a mixed blessing!
