The Role of Diet in Declining Sperm Counts

The ongoing global drop in male fertility may be associated with saturated fat intake and lack of sufficient fruits and vegetables.

Why is high dietary intake of saturated fat associated with reduced semen quality? What’s the connection? Sex steroid hormones in meat, eggs, and dairy may help explain the link between saturated fat intake and declining sperm counts. That’s the subject of my next video, Dairy Estrogen and Male Fertility.

More on male infertility in my videos Fukushima and Radioactivity in Seafood (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/fukushima-and-radioactivity-in-seafood/) and Male Fertility and Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/male-fertility-and-diet/). <br />
Diet also has a role to play in sexual dysfunction:

25 Risposte a “The Role of Diet in Declining Sperm Counts”

  1. In the media, not long ago I heard: "A study recently announced by researchers from the Loma Linda Medical School found that men living either a vegan or vegetarian diet had lower sperm counts than men who regularly consumed red meat."
Conflicting studies like this make me confused and its sometimes hard to "say" which studies have the right conclusions.
Could you please comment on this, thank you.

  2. I was waiting on you to comment on the recent 7th Day Adventist study which got some headlines, Dr. Greger.

  3. The consumption of GMOs can also have this effect on men. Then there is sewage water that's recycle back into the water supply and the drugs found in it like anti pregnancy drugs that men consume unwittingly.

  4. Dang!  I wish I had a hold of this 2 days ago when The Young Turks reported that they had a study from Loma Linda University that said there was some evidence that vegetarians had lower sperm counts than omnivores.  Although I knew that wasn't true I didn't have any info and left a comment on how it was a study probably funded by the meat and dairy people, which is probably true.

  5. A study found that men who supplemented with zinc and folic acid for 6-7 months had a 75% increase in sperm count. Oysters are and beef are the best source of zinc.
And remember…a correlation doesn't mean the cause, ex…this associated with this does nessesarly mean its the cause.

  6. The herbal Prolargentsize capsules give you the best semen production!!! Take the pills without masturbating for some days and you will be amazed. Am completely happy with this product. We have a baby problem because of me. I am happy now. I found it in the internet. Thanks to Prolargentsize

  7. Hi Dr Greger, I was wondering how this study's findings apply to someone who has had an orchidopexy (as I know this may also significantly lower sperm count)?

  8. Dr Greger please make videos on female fertility and diet I'd really like to know if there's a link!/ recomendations!

  9. Ok, we as a nation have gone low fat crazy! and the decline in sperm count has mirrored this so I'd argue that saturated fat was actually a important part in sperm production.

  10. Hey, it's just as simple as making those love chemicals dance within your body. Try looking for a supplement, or just use the booster mentioned in Ava Fortsmire's website.
