  1. I can confirm that since I cut out oil on everything a couple of years ago my headache frequency reduced noticeably as did my Ibuprofen intake: about 70 percent.

  2. I am disappointed! 😠How about some priorities?! 😷Seriously, were in the middle of a pandemic and literally nothing on how to boost your immune system for weeks.🤒 Just diabetis, obesity and the usuall…Animal products are bad. Got it. Now how about something useful in this difficult time 🙄

@Chad  All of the videos are about how to better your state of health. Therfore subsequently supporting all means of body function such as the immune system. That is true. BUT there would be no need for putting anything TO THE TEST if it would be as simple. These videos usually cover highly specific medical topics and very particular nutritional advice. Meaning e.g. the molecular structures of eg. a spice and who can consumes it in what quantity. Most videos cover several aspects e.g. a specific vegetable in combination with another factor like sport. HOWEVER since that is the case, I am pretty sure there is loads of studys particularly covering the immune sythem and particular molecular structures and what food contains them. And THAT CONTENT is not being delivered even though were serval months into the pandemic. So I am personally disappointed. Turns out I watched almost all videos and eat pretty strictly by Dr. McGegers advice. I am not a hater. Just expected the Doktor and his team to take this more seriously.

@saturnonostropicos  That, or I would just like to give my family members some advice. My grandmother is 85 and the medical system in my country is at the verge of collapsing. So unfortunately making sure she stays at home by all means is all I can do. That is not a god feeling. She is not willing to go completely vegan, and keeps trying to make me eat meat again.😒 She is just very old, and does not want to try new things anymore. Still, if I had specific advice and could just fresh up her diet to some degree, that would really help. And yes, I do make her eat lots of vitamin c rich fruits.

Of course it isn't Dr. McGregers responsibly so save humanity from Corvid-19. I just had higher expectations for Dr. McGreger understanding how people feel about their family. After all his grandmother, inspired him to take this path.

  3. I used to get migraines guaranteed monthly as a teenager. My doctor suggested food could be one of my triggers so I should try eating less red meat, cheese, processed foods in general, processed sugar, and soda. I didn't listen a great deal, but eventually I didn't want to be a victim anymore and became proactive. It led me down a plant based path and in the 5 years since I haven't had any migraines, and only the rare bad headache about once a year. I don't think food is my sole trigger, but has the largest say in my susceptibility.

  4. Anyone else notice that the vegan foods at your local supermarket are sold out? That’s the case where I am. Tofu, plant-based meats, soymilk, all low stocks

  5. I became whole food plant based in February 2019 for the obvious reasons, it’s just the best diet. I periodically have migraines but not as frequently as I did which was every 6 weeks. They were debilitating. Just over a year I say I’ve had 3 migraines. They are still a fear in my life, but not like they were. Yes, I believe it was dropping the meat, cheese and eggs that did it. My emotions are stable, I lost some weight and when I bicycle I feel like a stick of dynamite! I’m 55 years old and easily have another 50 in me, well at least I’m open to ‘put it to the test’. ♥️

  6. When I stopped supplementing Omega 3 I started getting headaches and when I started again it stopped. I didn’t change my intake of saturated fats.

  7. Ended up in urgent care 3 days ago. I almost thought I made a bad decision, I thought I was having an aneurism. I already eat plant based. I think it's the stress of my job and all of this uncertainty we're all going through…

  8. Nightshades like potatoes, tomatoes and bell peppers really effect me and cause migraines from just one meal with them in it. If anyone else has gone vegan and still are getting migraines its worth a shot to avoid nightshades for a few weeks and see if it helps. Mine have completely gone away after I stopped eating them.

  9. I grew up with a mixture of migraines and sinus infection and congestion headaches. Both were often debilitating. I medicated and was taken to doctors and spent many days in darkened rooms trying to sleep them off whilst life went on without me.

Then later in life when dairy was inconvenient (spoiled before it was consumed, so bought less and less of it), I noticed I never had sinus problems. Took more years to figure out why. It was clearly the dairy. But I still had migraines and they were yet debilitating.

FFWD to five years ago when I changed to WFPB living and I’ve had ZERO migraines since then. Absolutely none. If you know migraines you might know the aura that often (for me always) precedes them. I have had the aura but it never progresses into a headache at all. It passes. One day in the last year or so I had very strong aura (a visual distortion/impairment) while driving, making driving unsafe. I stopped and bought a caffeinated beverage (the least offensive I could find) because I knew that caffeine has a powerful effect on these things (If, and only if you don’t consume caffeine with any regularity).

I turned up the bottle for a big swig of “medicine” and my vision cleared up AS I SWALLOWED that swig. I swear my vision cleared as I was lowering the bottle from my lips. I took another small sip and resumed my journey. Caffeine is a strong drug, use with caution.

I don’t mind aura now and then, especially since caffeine is one of our culture’s must popular addictive substances-and readily available.

Convenience stores I now call “addiction supply centers” with: caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, sugar, chocolate, greasy/salty foods, and gambling (lotto) at every one. The petrol is just a gimmick to get you into the store. I hardly visit them any more.

The moral of my story is WFPB fixed my migraines, and would have fixed my sinus problems had I yet been a dairy consumer. Proper food fixes most things. Thanks to Dr. G here and many many other fine men and women of the Evidence-Based Medicine movement for helping me make the decision to try a better way of living. It has been wonderful. WP

  10. This is not surprising at all, I've had chronic migraines from a very young age (I remember being in excruciating pain, vomiting and being sensitive to light at the age of 5) and haven't had one single episode since I began eating a plant based diet with no oils. I tried everything in the past and nothing worked. Eating this way is the only answer and now my quality of life has drastically improved.

  11. Not sure what this means if anything but recently moved from southern part of Florida to Texas and once I moved here migraines disappeared. Poof literally. Where I’m at now is far less humid without the constant heat that the part of Florida that I lived in had just about 365 days a year. Not sure if that has anything to do with the elimination but I’m grateful. I was having several a week to at times daily. I do take magnesium, ginger, and cayenne but I used these in Florida as well.

  12. I would love feedback on COVID-19 symptoms based on those that have been infected. Does this diet reduce inflammation so much that it lessens the symptoms…

  13. What can I do if I am lacking in potassium, but I cannot have more than the bare minimum (one date), else I will have aural migraines?

  14. Great video, thanks!

Could you explain why inflammation is bad? You have a lot of videos on foods and beverages which help fight inflammation but none on why inflammation is bad. Isn't inflammation the body's way of dealing with injury or disease?

It is just that the argument is not whole without this step.

  15. I eliminated all fat except for one D3 pill, Omega-3 pill and the tiny bit from flax and I really suffered from skin issues and I was looking awful. Increasing the fat with some olive oil, an avocado, or some basically junk food really got me back looking and feeling great. I don't have head issues, only I can feel the crossover point from glucose to ketones upon heavy activity.

  16. Het NF team, way to cash in the pandemic! Charging for a FB Q&A? Shame on you, shame on all of you!
Yeah, I don't care that it's free the NEXT day, the 5 bucks is so you get to ask questions live.
You people make those hoarding toilet paper look good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This is beyond offensive.

  17. Please forgive me for interjecting my thoughts, anytime I hear someone talking about migraines, I get on my soapbox so hear goes.
My wife has had – notice the tense – had, migraines for the 40+ years that I've been married to her, she has gone through the western medical hell, like endless med, er room visits, condesending doctors, all that until we fortunately got totally ripped off by a neurologist in Phoenix who actually stole 3/4 of the botox medicine she was supposed inject. This was bad because my wife was out of options, so my daughter had gotten a Daith (some spell it Daithe) piercing up in Alaska and was able to say that it was her last migraine! So we very skeptically went to what we thought would be a questionable insertion, it was done at a surprisingly professional clean tattoo shop! for approx 80.00. I cannot begin to tell you what it's like to actually be out from underneath the black cloud of migraines!!! Like for real, no more endless trips to doctors, scary med painful shots, lost days laying in pain on the sofa. From what I've seen it works for about 70% of people. So you gotta ask yourself, risk 80.00 for not just like most meds promise, a little improvement, but a serious chance at being able to say "my last migraine!". At least check it out on line, worst case senario you wasted the 80 and you take it out. And yes by all means start to eat right, yes we are accountable to our bodies for the things we eat, eat garbage food – have garbage health life. Probably the biggest concern would be like any piercing is keeping it clean while it heals, my wife was an RN so we had no issues.
Of the people we follow online, Dr. Greg has great info on helping all of us who are turning the corner from prepackaged crap food to healthy healing real food, Thank-you Dr. Greg for your service in helping all of us find our way through this maze of information on how to give our bodies the food to optimize our health. yes i'm getting paid for this by the fact I now have a wife who's not down with migraines.
    "Mic drop"

  18. Dr. Greger, you should be speaking NOW about why governments from all the world should ban animal commerce and animal protein products to avoid more pandemics like the actual COVID19. Its the moment to make global laws about this so we can prevent catastrophic events like this one or even worse… If governtments take extreme meassures like confinement of entire countries for months, they ALSO can take meassures like banning all animal products and animal farming, hunting, selling.

  19. For everyone who thinks he gives good health advice in general please be reminded that Dr. Gregor is only in his 40s.

  20. DON'T EAT MORE THAN 1/2 CUP SPINACH OR OTHER HIGH OXALATE GREENS per day. Going WFPB SOS free completely eliminated my migraines. Now I only get them when I overeat rich whole foods such as dates or walnuts with blackstrap molasses. I eat lots of greens now but for many months ate a lot, and I mean a lot of spinach in my daily vegetable soup. I started to notice changes in my teeth and nails, and my dentist noticed as well. He thought it was from sleep apnea or too much acidic food. I didn't consider the spinach because I thought all veggies were alkaline. When I watched your warning about high oxalate foods it finally dawned on my that this was the problem. My nails are much improved over the past few weeks and my teeth are not getting worse. DON'T EAT MORE THAN 1/2 CUP OF SPINACH A DAY. I still eat a lot of greens, but different lettuces, kale, and cabbage. Not only have my migraines been eliminated but also I no longer have high cholesterol, sciatica, hyper pigmentation on face and hands, no puffy eyes and face and hands, heart arrhythmia, My eyesight and hearing have improved as well and my mood is always upbeat, and my energy is high. My skin tone is great, too, whereas previous too going WFPB SOS free, I had always had a sallow complexion. I am too thankful to this website and for all my other plant based heroes.

  21. Dr. Greger and team, keep up the great work!!! As a Long time watcher of your videos via your site, I’ve learned so much through the years and your info has definitely tuned down my migraines. Especially love the snorting chilli peppers to dull those pain receptors (actually works lol), cheers and thanks again!

  22. This new style is really distracting. An animated presenter, graphics flying in and out, randomly highlighted text that isn't there long enough to read.

Please go back to voiceover only

  23. Thanks for the info!! In my own experience, CANNABIS is the best plant for migraine, and many other illnesses! Sex and cannabis is also the best way to avoid headaches 😉

  24. “ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS” CAUSE OF ALL MY HEADACHES & MIGRAINES!..Stopped adding packets of “Whole Earth-Stevia Leaf & Monk Fruit” to my morning hot tea. Haven’t had a headache or a migraine in months!..So excited…I had to share my experience! I threw them all out! (Substituting w/ a little Organic Maple Syrup)! I’m amazed I figured this out!

  25. I have had migraines related to my hormones since my 30s. I eat vegan but I can't stand low fat diets. I feel so hungry without fats. I will try oil-free in 2021. I've never succeeded at that. Migraines are a real problem and I do take the CGRP shots. You say research shows "they don't work" but they do help tremendously. I think they're not measuring it correctly. Funny I use chili pepper (Cayenne or raw jalapenos) when I'm having a migraine and they bring short term relief. Ginger does not. I typically use Tylenol-aspirin-caffeine and an Epsom salt hot bath. I wish more doctors understood we migraineurs are not neurotic stress cases but I do think we have a more sensitive nervous system/ brain wiring in relation to light/sound/weather/ stimuli.

  26. Promising anything to anyone in pain is a sin. But trying a lot of stuff is a good strategy. Had headaches for 8 years plus. Cut the 1.5 liters of Cola I was drinking daily, and it fixed the problem for about 2 years. Then returned. Then I've read this guy's book. Added ¼ tea spoon of grounded ginger to my breakfast cereals, no more headaches. Coincidence? Don't know don't care, life was miserable during these migrens, so never again Cola, always ginger.

  27. Appreciate your channel and the bits of snark to lighten the load 🙂 – i suffered for years with migraines getting worse and worse with NO HELP FROM THE DUMB ASS DOCTORS -i finally realized they know very little about cellular bio-physiology WTF – from sodium benzoate to highly concentrated and refined baking soda these synthetically enhanced salts can easily cross the blood brain barrier -figuring this out ON MY OWN i was able to save my own life – Read the label and basically avoid packaged food whenever and if possible -on a good note i discovered that fresh juice is basically a type of antidote and can cut migraine run times in half -even help prevent them ! Fyi cabbage juice is especially helpful 🙂

  28. Since I stopped including dairy and oil in my diet my migraines have disappeared. I used to take excedrin at least two-three times a month.
I suffered from migraines for most of my life . If I had only known before how simple it was !

  29. Just wanted to correct one thing. They have created medications that bind to the CGRP enzyme. Aimovig and Emgality are the two names. They’ve changed my life. I was whole food plant based and no oil before starting them and still had 20-25 migraines a month. Those are the only medications that have actually done anything.

  30. My migraines have become more frequent with age (48). My current prescription is Botox Shots every three months. My diet is not 100% plant-based; however, animal and processed foods are not apart of my daily diet. I drink nothing but water, decaf coffee (once or twice a week), and loose leaf tea (Green and herbal). I consume fish (three times a week), lamb (once a month), and chicken (once a week or so). I know I consume enough greens and still take a magnesium supplement (350mg) daily. And…I take a B12 supplement daily. My height is 5'3 at 113 lbs. No need to lose weight. I exercise at least 4-5 times a week which includes yoga. I am aware my anxiety levels may play a role in my triggers; however, the weather seems to agitate them, especially this winter. My neurologist isnt able to offer any sound advice on how to stave off migraines. Its as if the healthcare industry has written it off. Its very frustrating. And NO ONE seems to have any solid answers. Very frustrating.

  31. Can you do a video about wind dragging viruses if there's literature on drag. I want to know if sniffing or smelling things can cause an infection of the nose and throat.
