  3. Fascinating. I'm glad to see more evidence in the camp of we don't know as it's nice to eat a fair amount. What I wonder is if working out gives the same benefits as fasting and/or caloric restriction is said to. If I recall, the way they are alleged to help longevity are through a similar process. Ideally, it would nice if eating a reasonable amount and working out is optimal. But if working out and fasting sometimes were optimal it would be worth considering — at least sometimes.

  4. I could be wrong but I remember Dr. Longo saying something like CR doesn't have any effects if you're already a healthy vegan. Makes sense now.

  5. Go out and look around. The vast majority of people you see are obese or al least over weight.
People do not need to be fat shamed BUT being over weight is not healthy and leads to a host of illnesses.
When you look around you can see all the unhealthy people without taking a blood test or a fitness test
"NORMAL" for the average American is "UNHEALTHY" The health of society is in decline.

  6. Mineral deficient soils and endocrine disrupting petrochemistry, combined with an idolization of fasting and weight loss, are a monkey trial in deed. Been there, done that.

  7. It is a very messy subject – no good experiments yet.

The CR Society in humans is closer, as they try to eat healthfully and report more, but still, humans still tend to underestimate intake, and those tolerating it poorly stop for their own sake.

We really don't have an answer yet.
    And it is annoying,
That with 9 billion of us,
We still must guess for our health,
    Rather than have an experiment.
While many may be tempted into harm reading about the benefits of CR.

I have tried it, vegan, healthy of course, for about two years in the past. It is different to be sure.

It may have an effect on your mind.
    It's just different…

And of course as I eat only a WFPB diet, one which Dr. G would approve, with d3 om3 suppl., — it comes out to CR levels acc to calorie need calculators. Constantly averaging 1800 kcals/d, each year, over years, 5'7" M, 24, active, 145lbs. 6:18 IF starting at 1p or 2. But I'm just one data point – it is no use. According to the NIH study, I'm not doing CR now, but maintenance intake.

I tell you, it can tempt unsuspecting bright youths to try it, quoting "no cognitive impairments" in the literature. And yet there is not the data to demonstrate its risks. Unacceptable.

As you can see, I tried it, and found it wanted peaceful environments, and higher % prot intake – and still had concerning effects on sleep quality for me. So, I do not do it these days. It gets harder to continue the leaner you get – and I did not try to reduce exercise or increase total protein, because it could cause muscle atrophy and antifasting, respectively. Had negative effects on creative ideation, sleep duration, background pragmatic thinking, and increased desire for exercise, while lowering resting EE, so that I will sit or lie very still otherwise, and wore more clothes.

I have tried for a half year 1650 and 1700 averages, a puny reduction, and for shorter month or two durations 1550, and 1600.
The effects were very similar – I slimmed faster on lower, but once lean, it felt like that same questionable oddness. Like the opposite of a hobbit. Thinking of food often, even with second breakfast, but jolly wouldn't be the right word.

I don't recommend anyone to try below maintenance. There isn't understanding here.

I do recommend the diet which Dr. Greger talks about all on his channel, website, and books, eating to maintain your weight at a healthy BMI. As far as the calorie calculators – I don't know if I am the outlier here, but I cannot eat more, nor would I like to. 1800 suits me fine, and more than that and I'd want to be doing much more exercise than I'd like, while even now, I do a great deal of activity which itself must be worked into the day with time.

  8. Calorie restriction works because you are restricting shitty foods from a shitty diet.

When you have a healthy diet with real food, calorie restriction doesn't do much.

  9. That's what Peter Attia said recently. Caloric restriction compared to eating healthy at maintanance calories would not provide any additional longevity benefits.

  10. I read that the monkeys in the restricted eating group had bad tempers, were agitated, and appeared to be compulsively waiting each day for their food to arrive and when it did, they would rush to it and gobble it up immediately. These are classic signs of starvation. Not only did it not help them live any longer, but calorie restriction was annoying to no end, to the monkeys.

  11. Can you please put out a video about this Ozempic drug coming out, if you haven’t already? It seems finally there is a drug that will make people feel full, lose weight, and then in the meantime they can go back to not caring about eating the right foods, and there are so many side effects💔

I commenti sono chiusi.
