Se i nitriti in cibi come prosciutto e pancetta provocano danni ai polmoni, che dire della carne “cruda” senza “nitriti aggiunti”?

Sì , è un noto cancerogeno, ma quanto cancro provoca la carne del pranzo? (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-much-cancer-does-lunch-meat-cause).

Ho molti video su entrambi i nitriti (https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/nitrite/) e nitrati (https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/nitrates/). So che può creare confusione, quindi dai un'occhiata su NutritionFacts.org. Diventerai presto un esperto!

  1. What is meant with, say, 50% increased risk? 50% compared to what? If it's going from 1 in a million to 1.5 in a million it's not interesting. If it goes from 10% to 15% it's very interesting.

  2. Dr. Greger what are the differences between nitrates found in green leafy vegetables and the harmful nitrates found and processed meats?

  3. At first, the cartoony like bouncing the host does was amusing, but now, dozens of videos later it's irritating and distracting so I just need to know. Who bounces on their toes like this when talking? So, so odd…

  4. One of my grandmothers died of COPD, even though she never smoked. But she did work in restaurants, long before any smoking bans. And she loved sausage and ham. I wish this information had been available to her. But at least we know now.

  5. I often see the phrase "uncured bacon" in the supermarkets these days, usually on pizzas. First time I saw it, I thought, who wants to eat something with sick bacon? Ah well.

  6. Wow, that is just sad. Thank you Doctor for calling it like it is. Thank you Europe for caring about your people. Knowledge is power. Doctor, you are so appreciated for your manner of presentation.

  7. Mr. Greger? Is there a reason why we develop allergies/asthma and have to live with it for the rest of our life’s? I doubt we can completely cure it. If there is, can you make a video about it so we can avoid giving our infants allergies/asthma?

  8. About nitrite disclaimers on UK food: coop bacon says '60% less than previous recipe' but it doesn't specify what it was, should I trust this? It is rspca assured though, which for you Americans is a charity that protects animals, how noble!

  9. Are dried greens in powder form as healthy as fresh greens? Are greens that are blended in a vita mix healthier than greens as a salad?

  10. My unhealthy Uncle had asthma. I thought it was due to his dusty house but he had eaten a lot of fatty meat sausages and other processed meats so that could be another reason he had it.

  11. Nitrates , no nitrates: In the US, it’s called “free speech”, only the well informed few, are saved from misrepresentation and early death from related adverse health conditions.

  12. More "smoke and mirrors" from the meat industry….
Legalized lying in order to profit from harmful addictions.
The FDA is owned by those who just don't care one bit about you or your health.
    More proof right here.

  13. I wonder if it matters that you ate them as kids, but not now as a 50 yo adult. Meaning, can the body heal from childhood consumption?

  14. Hi Dr. Greger! The way you speak in this video (and videos like it) vs the recent "Dr Greger in the Kitchen" video is distracting and makes it unpleasant to watch so I turn you off. Could you instead PLEASE speak like your regular, wonderful, loveable, relatable self while you share this valuable life-saving information? Thanks!

  15. Thank you for this very important information. I have to share this with my son. As he always buys products that say No Nitrites. The food industry needs to step up and be Be honest it’s so misleading. You are my Health HERO.❤️🌱

  16. Thank you Dr. Gregor! Do you think you could do some videos about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome? I'd very much appreciate it

  17. Nitrites. Give it to rats they get emphysema. Give it to humans they don't get emphysema. What does that tell me? The experiment is useless.

  18. It's a little confusing regarding nitrites, nitrates. As an asthmatic I thought vegetables like beets, arugula high in nitrates were good vasodilators improving both breathing and performance. If I take Citruline, (nitrous oxide precursor) before a workout my performance and breathing noticeably improve. (Watermelon, source of Citruline) What is the difference? Is it really the nitrites in meat? or the biproducts of high heat and frying.

  19. First processed meat puts you in the hospital and then hospitals serve it to you for dinner. That is just great. Now I know where I can invest my money. This is cash cow perfect. Too bad that ppl, animals and the environment get hurt badly.

  20. I prefer when I can see the article you are quoting like you did before I don't mind you standing either but you look a bit nervous. I like to see the article and authors so I can look up later .

  21. How can anyone feed their children hot dogs, sausage, ham, etc anymore? Knowledge is power. In this case knowledge is life. Thank you Dr Greger for building awareness and inspiring everyone, including me, to make better choices in nutrition and lifestyle. — Audrey, Chicago

  22. Of course these products are trash and super unhealthy but in a previous video (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/are-nitrates-pollutants-or-nutrients/) he said "And the only reason we’re worried about the nitrates is that they form nitrites, which, again, under certain circumstances, can form nitrosamines. The nitrites themselves are fine." "Phytonutrients—like caffeic acid, found in all plants, blocks nitrosamine formation. Ferulic acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and others. So, nitrates plus plant foods; no problem." "Nitrites, in the absence of plants, turn into carcinogenic nitrosamines." But in this case at least we have celery powder in these product. Is this celery powder supposed to be protective against nitrites turning into nitrosamines?

  23. Processed meat like chicken nuggets are often less than fifty percent meat. They're packed full of harmful vegetable oils, flour and sugar, then fried in vegetable oil.

  24. I was told by bad family that me not eating their deli meat rude. They told me health problems do not come from processed meat and called me a conspiracy theorist. Called this guy a quack. But couldn’t find one study proving this wrong . They claim it’s just “obvious” it’s healthy

  25. Thanx for setting that straight….as I ALWAYS wondered about those conditional comments on the packaging and whether it was really healthier or not….to me, the bottom line on all these cured meats was that it was a PROVEN carcinogen……thats ALL it took for me to eliminate this from my diet completely……this other knowledge of its effects on the lungs is just further confirmation to avoid this stuff like poison….Thanx Greger for outing this…..

  26. ALL preservatives should be removed from the food supply . It is a combination and culmination of unhealthy choices and exposures to toxic substances the body was never intended to process that cause inflammation, disease and death.

  27. Why does Dr. Esselstyn say that foods high in nitrates like kale are good for you? (Nitrates in kale are metabolised into nitrites, then further metabolized into NO.) Why do the nitrates from kale have a different effect on our bodies that the nitrites in cured meats?
