  1. Very interesting., Re the Red meat, I met a Single, divorced Man, aged 45! No smoking, the other day. He Cooks Red meat, daily on an open Flame! You would call it Barbeque, My country calls it a Braai Vleis! I had just met him, So could not tell him, that he’s heading for Cancer. With the Red meat daily, plus it being Charcoaled Blackened on a open Fire! ☹️🙀

  2. The incessant militant vegan comments on this channel are getting tiresome. If you want to promote your lifestyle, do it without all the hate and bile. You people turn whole generations away from eating right with your sanctimonious attitudes, for no other reason than ego-driven self satisfaction. You are part of the problem, not the solution. Lead by quietly setting an example that others want to follow.

  3. um….what is high dose vit B6?

I don't supplement B6 and I eat around 85%+ calories from whole plant foods and according to cronometer my B6 intake is around 360% of the RDA, 4.6mg to go by mass.

  4. I'm curious what form of B12 was used in those studies, Cyanocobalamin or Methylcobalamin? Two percent of the cyanocobalamin converting to cyanide in the body..

  5. Big relief because my 69-year-old vegan wife has a B12 of 1,960 pg/mL — way way way above the recommended range and we worried she was getting too much fortified soymilk, eating too much nutritional yeast, taking too big a weekly supplement, eating veggies and fruit from our yard… Now maybe we can worry less.

  6. Seems a little skewed to be saying that the RCT disproved the trials on post-menopausal women. The RCT had nothing to do at all with post menopause, premenopause, or anything to do with the sort. None of the findings in the RCT were lined up with menopause at all. They may seem similar, given the basis of the same B-Vitamin supplements and hip fractures correlation, but the fact that some of the people in the RCT possibly may or may not have been post menopausal does not lend credence to the conclusion advanced by the video.

I also have another thing to pick at with some of the information presented on this channel. Many of the RCT stated as being disproving of one conclusion in favor of another may have been large studies, but we don't always have replication of their findings. Isn't that part of the scientific model? If it really were true then I would embrace seeing similar findings replicated by other scientific experiments.

Of course the ideas put forward by this channel are very cutting-edge and I love hearing these discourses. I believe they raise quite a few questions that are not being researched enough! I also find it refreshing hearing you talk about getting more RCT out there, but please, oh please, don't go with the crowd and tell them things they want to hear. We need to know the truth.

  7. 4:07 Smoking actually can cause B12 deficiency, so smokers may simply take B12 to maintain their B12 levels and not just as a means to try to ward off lung cancer.

  8. The only account on youtube i watch in 0.75 speed, so difficult to understand. I am not a native speaker, still my English is pretty good. But Dr. Greger is giving me a hard time, I feel like I am in class and should take notes before i understand the subject completely.

  9. I would love print versions of these videos. I can’t stand to watch him gesticulate and gyrate. Not to mention the studies are too small and go by too fast now that he takes up a good share of the screen.

  10. My brother takes B vitamins because somewhere he learned that they counteract the effects of smoking and drinking, so there's that. He also eats a lot of red meat.

  11. Love learn so much about reverse causation in the cancer rates with elevated b12 as a marker for cancer as b12 as Dr Greger explains is a marker potentially in those eating red light red foods or smoking like chicken and egg causality not the b12 supplement itself. Dr Greger and his dedicated team are so talented, intelligent and supportive of educating people on medicine and nutrition and the biochemical expression of food and the complexity of the effect of b12 and cancer rates love it!

  12. One thing I didnt' quite understand in this video is that the article Dr. Greger mentions @ 2:15 (the one that allegely correlates high B12 serum levels to higher risk of lung cancer) is an observational study and therefore subject to reverse causation. However, the study analyzed a "MR" Mendelian Randomization where they checked genetic mutation people that have higher B12 levels to lung cancer and found the same association. The study actually mentions that such analysis proves that it's not due to reverse causation, since the B12 levels are actually genetic sourced.

I'd love to hear Dr. Gregers thought on that.

  13. Also, I understand when he mentions that the observational study regarding supplemental use can be affected by other behaviours that could make smokers take more B12 supplements. However, what I understood from the study when reading the categories results is that people taking supplements that are current smokers had an increased odd factor than those also smokers but with no supplement use. Likewise, those who were recent ex-smokers or long time ex-smokers taking supplement were compared to recent ex-smokers and long time ex-smokers not taking supplement, respectively. All of those categories seemed to present an increased risk…

  14. I had a really hard time understanding this with the high variability in speech pattern and speeds. Had to go back a lot, slowed it down. Slowing it down almost made it worse. I watch his videos all the time and I’m used to his strange speaking style but this one was particularly frustrating. 🙂

  15. As a non-vegan, I have long respected Dr Greger's genius. I have learned a LOT from him and his website, especially in the realm of how to conduct research. I have evangelized others in my life in this respect as well
