I vegani iniziano ad avere alti livelli di trigliceridi?! Perché e come risolvere?
Perché alcuni vegani iniziano ad avere alti livelli di trigliceridi? Cosa possiamo fare per assicurarci che i nostri livelli di trigliceridi siano nella gamma sana? Mangiare frutta fa aumentare i trigliceridi? Quali tipi di alimenti dovremmo mangiare con una dieta a base vegetale? Quali alimenti dovremmo evitare in una dieta vegana? What do triglycerides do to your health
i am on a 100% drinking sprite diet. My cholesterol and triglycerides always show up as zero on all tests. also i lost all my bodyfat. – durianrider 2016
i think that popcorn counts as a whole grain. yum! 😀
Good to know.
Thank you
Excellent Info
Shall the book come in Finnish too as it is in Swedish? 🙂 Would love that!
Excellent info.
Excellent video thanks Jo
Is it possible to have too low triglycerides? Mine showed up as 'under range' on a recent blood test which I found interesting. I wasn't really sure what to make of it.
If I remember well the famous Ornish trial had HDL go down and triglycerides go up the first year, but HDL went back up and trigs came down again later. Despite the low HDL and high trigs at first there was still reversal of heart disease, though. High triglycerides aren't optimal but they're a second tier risk factor at best.
OMG did you read my mind and upload this video just for me? You must have! This morning I accompanied my hubby to the docs (I'm vegan, hubby is vegetarian but not dairy and rarely eggs, basically vegan with fish, I'm working on it) to see how his cholesterol and triglycerides were and see if they would take his meds off. Cholesterol OK, not as good as previous visit but still very good but Triglycerides had shot up! I've been searching Dr Gregers site all day for this info but you would not believe the interruptions I got today which resulted in zero successful research. SO A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU!!! I think I understand what is going on and hubby hates anything that isn't white rice and pasta etc, so BOOM looking at a big probable cause there. Gonna watch a few more times and take notes so I know what I'm talking about when I try to explain. Thanks guys so much!
It is a process where the body makes fat out of carbs when there are a lot if sugars in your diet. Some fruitarians have this issue.
I may be an exception, but my triglyceride level quadrupled when I started eating lots of whole fruit, including raisins and dates. So, contrary to what Dr. Greger says here, too much sugar in the form of whole fruit can raise triglycerides in some people.
what about intermittant fasting..to help with the same problems..the science is there..
Great video, Tks!!
Love the Greger, one of my health heroes after my doctors nearly killed me!
yes my first two weeks i pooped like a champion. however the lure of cheese vexes me. i consider myself vegan with cheese right now.
Many fruit nowadays has been hybridized to be sweeter, seedless or reduction in seeds and larger fleshed. So humans have only been eating it a few hundred years. It is healthier than processed packaged foods but I believe we are seeing issues when folks consume an over abundance of it for extended periods of time. I am thinking our metabolic system was set up prior to the introduction of these hybridized fruits.
Wow, 4min35sec ad with no skip. For a Swedish online cooking show/Felix frozen dinners. They were talking about kale and hummus for all of it. Super cringe-boring shit. But I didn't turn on adblock. adjusts halo
But Grains are Mycotoxins which is bad.
How not to die is also available in Danish
Quality upload My lady, and worthwhile information. Will be sharing with friends and family.
During my first year vegan, I rarely ate grains or processed foods of any sort. Instead my diet was mostly raw consisting of mainly green smoothies, apples and occasional nut butters and TONS of mango ice cream. On average, I was largely fruitarian. My triglycerides went from 44 to 164 and fasting glucose went up. This would have been all the fruit right? On the other hand my LDL was just a bit higher than my HDL, my blood pressure was low and I lost 50 pounds.
I started taking iodine supplements and my triglycerides dropped from 157 to 87 because my thyroid started working again. I have been plant based for 6 years and on a low salt diet
I love Dr. Greger. Thank you for sharing. = )
I wasn't eating much of those things at all and my triglycerides were still going high.
The only way of lowering your triglycerides levels with a high starch/fruits vegan diet is to constantly exercise. In our busy society, most people don't have the opportunity to always exercise. Thus this diet is meant to raise people triglycerides long term. Because it's unrealistic to exercise everyday.
Our ancestors used to eat fruits once i a while because nobody was there to plant fruit trees and wait years for them to grow like it's been done in recent centuries. And more even, fruits were not extremely sweet like the modern farmed fruits we have today.
That'swhy we have to eat fruits once in a while; that's the same for starches.
The best takeaway from this: How not to die is available in Italian. YAY! Thank you so much for your work Dr. Greger
Did someone tell somewhere how many fruits per day is optimal? and which fruits are better in juices so it doesn't freak out your sugar level?
omg; were going to die!
I absolutely love your scientific approach and all of the incredible information you're giving us. thank you!
So Triglyceride is fat and eating progressed carbs increase it?
I ate a drank big amounts of sugar/refined stuff for a long time and my triglycerides are quite low. My bloodsugar doesn't drop below the beginning point 1,5 hour after drinking a can of cola.
Am I an alien? xD
What about dried fruits like dates or figs?
Lovely, thank you 🙂
I attempted keto and couldn't follow it but my cholesterol and triglycerides were perfect while on that diet. Triglycerides went up when I switched to plant based with very limited meat intake. Based on the numbers, my Dr wants me to go back to keto.
What if you DONT EAT REFINED FOODS on a Vegan diet THEN THIS DOESNT HAPPEN. Problem solved. STAY VEGAN MY FRIENDS
Love all your videos👍😃
yeah, but i eat a vegan diet and cant remember the last time i ate ANY processed food!! why????? I HAVE HIGH TRICLYCERIDES
A simple way to blunt the high insulin spikes of foods like white rice and flour is to combine them with a source of protein. A recent study I read says that tofu is the best (yay for vegans). So white rice with tofu or beans is perfect.
when I fast and then eat whole foods such as oatmeat, bananas, apples, my brain just shuts down. I am ready to pass out and fall asleep. So he says that this would not happen if you eat whole foods. Well it happens to me.
Been dealing with T1D for 20+ years. This is the first time I've heard a low blood sugar causes your body to throw fat into the blood stream!
Thanks for this great information Dr. Greger! BUT I am already doing the things you suggest (I do limit fruit via recommendations per a Dr. McDougall video) including replacing processed whole grains such as whole grain breads & pasta with intact whole grains. I still have elevated triglycerides and they are moving the wrong direction! HELP-What else can I do?????? Thank you in advance.
Dr. Greger admits a relationship between grains/carbohydrates and serum triglycerides. That is good. The way to lower serum triglycerides is to cut carbs. The relationship is direct. More carbs in the diet, the higher the triglycerides.
Dr. Greger does not understand cholesterol. Changing total cholesterol or LDL-C doesn't really change cardiovascular risk. On a cholesterol panel, the two things that most closely represent risk of cardiovascular disease are triglycerides and HDL. And a plant based diet lowers HDL (the good cholesterol) and is usually neutral or increases the triglycerides. He is 20 years behind on his understanding of cholesterol. Lipoprotein particle number is a far more accurate measure of cardiac risk. And as carbohydrates are incrementally increased in the diet, the particle number increases accordingly, thereby increasing cardiac risk.
If a person needs to lower triglycerides and increase HDL, the best method using food is to eat more saturated fats and cut carbs.
I like theses kind of studies high animal products Cardiovascular disease high refined carbohydrates Cardiovascular disease not sure about potatoes but dosen't appear to be an exception not a one tract minded conclusion
Thats pretty rare to catch dr gregor caught in a corner where he doesnt know what he is talking about. He is one of the best. I only know because I am one of those people and eating a 100% low fat whole foods diet and I cut out all rice, potatoes, noodles, bread, grains including whole for several months then tested at 750 triglycerides 8 years vegan, dont drink calories, no coffee, 1/2 hr cardio per day 7 days a week.
Its not syndrome x, its called NAFLD. Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and is cured only by fasting. Just figured it out by TyG score.
Dr. My tryglisrides are near 1050 and I suffering from alcoholism.. What shld I do
All you need is avocado to lower your triglyceride. I am doing this one week before I've my blood test.
THKS for the information
Not everyone is genetically suited for an all vegan diet. There are as many proper diets as there are people. Some thrive as omnivores and some thrive as vegans. Enough with the pontification and rigid ideological dogma.
I had this vegan with high tryglyceirides, I will switch to wheat see what happens and if still an issue I will switch to intact grains.
High Triglycerides are the result of too much glycogen in the diet in combination with not enough cholesterol, something that effects almost all vegans.
Useful info. Thank you.
Time to eat clean and give up all bad stuff….high blood pressure runs in my family.. i already went on plant based couple months ago, I am 41, m blood pressure is good and it was before but as prevention… I still ocasionally have little sugar when some birthdaYs comes up, glass of wine.. but it is really once in 6 months..hopefully it is nor going to hurt me 🙂 but you gotta live too a little bit 🙂
those with higher Trigs, had you added any exercise? I thought I read that. Trigs are like energy waiting to be burned but if you don't move regularly they are all for not.
Learn how to cook
Thank you your wonderful postings. Super info. Please keep them coming.💗🙌😊
FIRST, THNX FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS… GREAT INFO AND GREAT HELP FOR EVERYONE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU.
NOW, I HAVE DR GREGER'S BOOK BUT I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING ON THIS SUBJECT OF HIGH TRYGLICERIDES IN VEGANS.
Master of Evidence Biased Medicine – Well done.
Based on my experience of you're diet consist high fruits it will raise your triglycerides no matter what I do high intensity workout at least 2 hours 5 days a week and when I tried this frutarian diet for about 2 months my triglycerides went up from 70 to 220 this explains why Steve jobs and many other frutarian vegans have poor health and they are usually over weight
Of all the dr's featured on this channel this is just any the only 1 I do not like
My primary care doc is from India and has been a vegetarian for his entire life and he has high cholesterol and is on a statin. Why? Because genetics.
While not true for everyone, the usual suspects are:
-Fruit juices
-Fruit smoothies (no greens/berries and consumed quickly)
-Processed foods (incl. chips, bread, and faux meats/dairy)
-White rice & semolina pasta
-Alcohol
-Insufficient exercise
-Excessive calories, especially per meal
Why? Because processed carbs.
Everyone is going to die. That is reality and we better prepare for life after death.
My triglycerides came down 100 points in four months. Total cholesterol came down 25 points to 185 in 4 months! This vegan thing works
This happened to me high triglyceride.
Eat less carbohydrates as per doctor Atkins eat less fats as per doctor Greger, well eat of both eat more vegetables
At least this Greger is honest, does not go into the denial mode
If you eat a whole banana do you have to eat the skin?
So, even Dave's Killer Bread or Ezekiel Breads? I'm going to try only Ezekiel bread, it it a flourless bread made from ground sprouted grains I believe.
Do you have a link to the recording or video of Dr. Gregor's talk that's in this video?
הספר "איך לא למות" של ד"ר מיכאל גרגר קיים גם בעברית. ראיתי אותו במסעדת, "חומוס BAR" בחיפה.
I have to admit I am perplexed and more than a little irritated. I have been eating a high starch vegan diet for a bit over 2 months. I eat no processed foods. Most of my diet consists of legumes, potatoes, rice, some fruit (though not much), plantains or avacado, etc. I also admit I don't eat that much of non-starchy vegetables although I do get some. Now my A1C has been marvelous- dropped .6 to a normal level. My overall cholesterol and ratios are also marvelous. However, my triglycerides rose dramatically and my VDL also rose. My blood test report says I am at a very high risk of having a stroke or M.I. I have from a recent x-ray of my chest continuing inflammation at the bases of the lungs which have not cleared up since January when I was hospitalized. There was a slight improvement there on the right side. My monocytes keep climbing and I am concerned that it is either a response to the COPD inflammation at the base of my lungs or worse. I also have not lost a pound in over 2 months on a non-animal fat diet, which goes against everything the plant-based doctors have been saying. I don't know what to do because my creatinine, which was rising and frightening me about CKD, dropped down to 1.2, well within a normal range and outside of CKD. So what am I doing wrong. The triglycerides tell a tale of eating too much carbs that are being stored as fat in the cells and it is not clearing up.
Before Dr. Michael Gregor there was a long ads about ketogenic diet (?).
In 5 months of plant based, my TG went from 159 to 119.
So I just tested 344 Tryglicerids…and I am not overweight and I am 29 years old. Needless to say, I am panicking. I have been vegan for 2 years and I eat very clean with the occasional cookie or glass of wine but since I am in Mexico I cannot get a lot of refine sugar…butttt I do eat a lot of rice and pasta X.X could that be it??
3 months of wfpb diet. TG went up from 123 to 178🙄🙄 I eat whole fruits , not smoothies. Any solution? Should I decrease my banana consumption?
"2:12" Excellent Video clip! I been tryin to find out about ”how can i lower my blood sugar after eating?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of – Patlarny Sugar Outcome Principle ?

Always such a jolt to have such wisdom followed up by a Gundry add.
How does this relate to intermittent fasting?
So the topic is how vegans suffer high triglycerides but tests she mentions tests that show clearly that does not happen???
I have been strictly whole food plant based since 2016, and I still have high blood pressure does anyone have an idea why?
Triglycerides are store form of energy first time hearing triglyceride are released after hypoglycemia, he is great story teller, every other day new story.
Thank you PBSL for sharing
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE SAID
