It is sad that so many vegan, raw or fruitarian folks exclude nuts from their diet…
I eat coconuts, cashews, and sesame seeds the most out of all of them. I have to be careful of some of them because I'm allergic to peanuts and there is cross contamination. I do agree it's good to have some overts. I usually eat them more towards the evening.
Actually, I like only few types of nuts: almonds (Spanish are my favorite), pecans, pine seeds… Sometimes I eat wild peanuts, but I am not really wowed by them 🙂 /Lena
wow! good to know, thanks!
There are three things I need to do everyday or else I just don't feel right:
1. Take a shower
2. Go on YouTube
3. Eat an apple with peanut butter
nice i just pounded 600g of peanuts. Gotta love that aphlotoxin… here I come squamous cell carcinoma.
In my humble opinion, Nuts and Peanut Butter are only okay for me, IF i do not have any signs of artery blockage…which i don't so YEAH to peanut butter, again! 😀 Glad i didn't find this video BEFORE i got my Total Cholesterol to 150. 😀
Thanks for posting
Yes. Peanut butter without the sugar.
All natural peanut butter. Not that nasty peter pan or jiff stuff.
aflatoxin
Since the peanuts are roasted before making peanut butter, doesn't that ruin the healthy fat in the peanut?
I had a friend who came to me about his high cholesterol. He ate peanut butter everyday. The rest of his diet was very good, and it made no sense that his cholesterol was high. I figured it had to be the daily consumption of peanut better that was causing his problem due to the destruction of the fat molecule during the roasting of the peanuts. I never eat roasted seeds or nuts because I like eating healthy fats.
What is your opinion on eating roasted peanuts versus eating roasted seeds and nuts?
One problem…peanut butter contains hydrogenated vegetable oil….like trans fats, that stuff isn't good for you. Dr. Greger may need to read the labels, or he has a souce for peanut butter that doesn't contain hydrogenated vegetable oil.
no peanut butter is not good full of omega 6's come on sir do your research before come on here and 3 handfuls of nuts hope they digest that lol. and u should tell everyone it must be organic no hydrogenated oils or other additives and peanuts will make u fat unlike other good fats like avocado's are u trying to sell peanuts
>> Women at high risk of suffering heart attack had about 1/2 the risk if they ate peanut butter everyday.
So, I have to wonder if that was because the peanut butter was instead of eating meat or something else. Does that prove that peanuts are good? What exactly does that prove, and at the frequencies of these studies … how can they tell when a woman is "expected statistically" to have a heart attack?
Oh, I like that.
Thanks
agreed! great post!
that man, well, ill just say that's not a story you hear everyday.
Wait just a minute my good doctor! Hold everything! Not all peanut butter is created equal. Most grocery store peanut butter is made with hydrogenated oil which you have clearly demonstrated in another video is a cardiac killer and should never be eaten. Fortunately, there are a few peanut butters made without hydrogenated oil, but you have to read the label to be sure.
yes!!! I just bought some peanut butter!
What about aflatoxin?
What about those toxins in peanuts?
I'm using Trader Joe's peanut butter almost on a daily basis. Is this okay?
Eat sugar free.
Even nuts that aren't even nuts are healthy 😉
Thank goodness! I love peanut butter!
Wouldn't this contradict your low fat diet recommendations?
Peanut butter contains lots of dehydrogenated fats/transfats and/or palmfat… not healthy!!!
The MD forgot to mention it has to be natural peanut butter without these added fats..
For anyone interested I contacted Whole Earth peanut butter makers to ask about afflaxtoxins in their organic peanut butter. The assured me they are very stringent in testing for afflatoxin. I asked if I sent a sample for analysis would I find any toxins..they said absolutely not. Their product does however contain Palm oil…they say sustainably sourced. Machiavelli noted this point further down the blog. I wonder how the addition of palm oil affects the 'helpful' rating given in this video?
the hazelnut bandit strikes again.. . .
I work for JIF and I approve this message
Tahini with no added oils just ground sesame seeds is even better
travelers beware of parasites pretending to be a nut, handing out peanuts! 🙂
Peanut butter does really well on the food insulin index because it is low in net carbs and high in fat. http://wp.me/p5VAQF-Qd
I eat Smucker's Natural Creamy peanut butter containing only peanuts and less than 1% salt!
what about the processed sugar in the stuff?
I'm a bit confused. I have inflamation and dr Mcdougall say no oil at all and now I hear walnuts and almonds are good for reduce inflamation. Does anybody have the right answer for me? Tnks from the Netherlands
Even the peanut butter you get these days from the supermarket? I thought it was full of palm oil and stuff
Be mindful that a lot of peanut butter uses a very unhealthy stabilizer.
I expect this refers to 100% peanut butter; not "Spread" made with 25% cotton seed etc.?
Maybe it is actually helpfull because the womans decreased their binge eating on sugar and other nasty stuff as they began eating tummy filling fatty nuts?
So why doesn't the nut fat effect endothelium ? also, if fat effects insulin with sugar why does nut fat act different towards insulin ?
Luv ur website❤️💜💙💚! It clears a lot of the confusion abt certain foods. I just viewed ur low carb diets decreases the diameter of our heart vessels. How do u define a low carb diet? How many grams of carbs is allowed on a low carb diet? Ty in advance:)
You can buy natural peanut butter at many health stores, including trader joe's and whole foods. Just make sure the only ingredient is nuts and you should be golden. Love the nuts!
That's god, I literally eat peanut butter every day
Does roasting pistachios destroy the health benefits of them? In other words, will eating roasted pistachios be as healthy for me as the raw ones?
Phew! Nice! I love peanut butter so this is great! (I understand that you talk about natural peanut butter without all the added oils and sugars)
THANK GOD RE PEANUT BUTTER
what about mycotoxins in peanuts?
moral of the story…. don't eat stranger's nuts
I love watching Dr. Greger's videos because they tell me exactly what TO eat (i.e. what he says is "unhealthy") and what NOT to eat (i.e. what he says is "healthy")! It's great!
This guy is an idiot i seriously urge you to ignore his advice
I thought peanuts cause inflammation, which is not good for the body. Is there an updated video?
that is because
SUGAR isnt bad for you.
Just make your own peanut butter with organic peanuts in a vitamix
yea but i contains alot of fat, which clogges arteries, so im confused
I'm surprised he didn't say anything about needing to stay away from hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils in peanut butters. Always get non-hydrogenated!
Can you please make a video about Tahini?
Great, because I was going to continue to eat peanut butter any way. Lol 🙂
i felt pretty disgusted and bad after peanut butter tho.something was definately wrong
Yay! Good news! I love peanut butter.. eating only organic, unsAlted and raw
how is this true, when fats raise ldl cholesterol
Bulk-Barn has a nut machine where you can take fresh nuts and make it into paste without all the additives. None of that oil separation either
Oh, so paying double for my bio, natural peanut butter is worth it then. Awesome!
Peanut Butter=Squirrel Cheek Time pack it in!
But how much is too much with nuts, peanuts and peanut butter?
Avocado is better, but also much more expensive gram-per-gram.
first video by him I have to criticize. Is it organic or not ? does it have added oil or not ? does it have added sugar or salt ? are they Valencia or jungle peanuts which grow higher off the ground and have less or 0 mycotoxins.
at worst harmful, at best fattening while being nutritionally unremarkable; mostly just omega 6 fats that your body doesn't need that much of.
Thank you, Dr. Gregor! Dr. Sam Robbins says to stay away from peanuts cuz they are bad for you. Of course, I take your word Every time!!
For everyone watching, it's soooo easy to make your own peanut butter and much, much cheaper! How to: buy peanuts, put in blender, press blend, add a tiny bit of sunflower oil little by little until it starts to blend (olive adds a weird taste), press stop, scoop it out and stick it in ya face!!
Always look at the ingredient label.
What about mold, mycotoxins, fungus!
Peanut butter gives me acne. I wonder if it isn't healthy because it's roasted. I also wonder if maybe it's rancid and we don't know it. My mom had a friend who could look at his children and tell that they ate peanut butter. I just have my reservations on this one. Maybe it's best to look for more research on this one. Plus, lots of peanut butter has hydrogenated oils and if not that, then sugar. So don't just grab any peanut butter, grab on that just says peanuts and salt in the ingredients section.
So pleased to hear this!!!
Big fan of Dr G but I'll just say, I always wondered about this one. I've heard recently that palm oil is essentially as bad as pure butter for increasing LDL. Palm oil is in most peanut butters.
Further throwing this study into question is that they claimed 'no conflicts of interest'. Then mentioned immediately afterwards, 'Dr. Hu reported receiving research support from California Walnut Commission'.
"Research support"?? That sounds dodgy as hell. Seems more likely to me a biased study design is in play, although I haven't read well into the study, I'm going to take it with (or should I say without) a pinch of salt for now
After watching some very contradiction in some of his videos especially about eggs. I dont trust his videos anymore. Seems like he is making these up to make it sound scientific and educated to attract subscribers.
What about the added salt and sugar though?
What about the omega balance though??
Hi! i was watching this video on youtube posted by Dr. Eric Berg ( Do Not Eat Peanut Butter Again, Until You Watch This…
)
If you could comment on this.
Thanks.
Glad to hear this because I love peanut butter. Esselstyn basically recommends no nuts including peanut butter
What about the high omega 6 content and possible aflatoxins?
What about aflatoxin?
Please tell me they caught that guy…😬
You often don't enunciate the 's' in words ending in 's'
Time for Dr Greger to update this old video
A more recent video https://youtu.be/c7jhDwtvjic
Hold on people , there is harmful peanut butter , these contain added hydrogenated vegetable oils , added sugar and salt . Be sure it is 100% all-natural .
Have mine (2 t. Santa Cruz Organic Lightly Roasted w/no other ingredients except lightly salted-I like Crunchy after pouring off the oil on top) w/my Vitamin D3 each morning on my Rolled Oats w/organic wild blueberries & red raspberries & organic unsweetened Soy Milk on top! Only wish they would make the Peanut Butter w/o any salt!!!
Lots of CoQ10 in peanuts also.
Buy fresh ground peanut butter at the supermarket deli. Only ingredient is Peanuts.
Studies on nuts are good but what about peanut ?
I buy the healthiest peanut butter I can find in stores – but even the best brands seem to come with palm oil. Dr. Greger has stated that oil can negatively affect artery function. Is palm oil is peanut butter okay? My guess is that it's naturally occuring..
I think it is not as clear as D. Greger suggests in this video. The study says "consumptions of nuts OR peanut butter", so it could be that the benefits are primarly from nuts and not the peanut butter. Peanut-butter is always from roasted nuts and often contains aflatoxins which causes cancer!!
But can peanuts be too high in omega 6?
It better be, i am eating it. I buy adams natural (no oil)
What about AGEs?
All healthy effects may be canceled out because of the hydrogenated oil in peanut butter.
I know peanuts and corn has fungus.
I’m deathly allergic to walnuts. 🙁
I love me some Smuckers PB 😋
