  1. paleo people say legumes and beans shouldn't be eaten as they have compounds that attack the digestive lining?

  2. beans have a "Dr Jekyll (antioxidant), Mr Hyde (agglutinating lectin)" quality to them which this video does not delve into…be careful as to what bean you incorporate into your diet as your joints and intestinal tract may start screaming at you if it's the wrong one(s) even the top ones

  3. THIS VIDEO IS THE GREATEST VIDEO I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE ENTERTAINING AND EXCITING VIDEOS ON THIS MATTER HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD CHECK OUT MY CHANEL FOR MORE TERRARIA MODS

  4. learning about the various bean on our planet is a truly exhilarating experience. Please make more bean related materiel!
I cant wait to show this to my book club, they would love this. please up vote this comment so pewdiepie can see this!!

  5. Hmm I eat a lot of hummus but there's a brand that makes black bean hummus. Perhaps I begin eating that more often! I should be fine regardless though I eat a bean mix that has 16 types of beans and it's yummy.

  6. the unit used here is very confusing. it makes me no wiser about how much 100g (by soaked or dry weight??) of these beans help me towards the anti-oxidant RDA discussed in other nutritionfacts vids. And what does LDL cholesterol (presumably?) have to do with any of this?

  7. Growing up, we ate beans nearly every day (we're Hispanic Caribbean folks). My fave were red kidney bean soup my mom made with pumpkin and malanga and potatoes (she was not vegetarian, so she added bacon and chorizo in small amounts, as well as a sofrito–flavor base–of fresh onions, garlic, tomato, peppers, and olive oil). She and dad never had high blood pressure, diabetes, etc, well into their seventies. Not one med for any of that. I think the daily garlic, onion, beans, olive oil and frequent avocado (we kids would fight for the plantains and avocado). Lots of onions. To this day I love heaps of onions and garlic. I was afflicted by the SAD, but have tried to make better and better changes over the years. But man, bean soup is one of life's big pleasures.

  8. 7 years after…
    In your video _lcCKrLl7Ow
    Best beans…
Black beans had 32k units, lentils 28k, red kidney beans 220k units, and the units were umol TE/mg.
Note the units, umol per mg.
    Same for lentils.
But in this video on apples, the range is 5000-9000 and the units are umol TE/100g.
The question is…since the divisor is different (mg vs 100g),
are beans 100g/100mg=1000 times more potent in terms of antioxidants? Or are units different across video and studies?

  9. I was interested in this video, but the sound quality is so bad that I cannot hear it. Even with my ear against the speaker, it is difficult to understand what is being said.

  10. I had to stop eating so many black beans because they were staining my teeth. Those anthocyanins are powerful.

  11. Why do I find this video to be, just a little confusing. Anyway my take is Black beans, lentils and kidney beans are healthiest with chickpeas coming in fourth place. Am doing research to change over to vegan so, this video has been helpful. Thank you.

  12. in another one of his newer videos he mentions that chickpeas are number 2 in antioxidant content im confused

  13. Here in Brasil we eat a lot of black beans, specially in Rio de Janeiro. Maybe that’s why my grandmother died with 103 years old. She got me addicted to it.

  14. Is there a concern about the glyphosate spraying of beans in the US? Some reports state that they use it to speed drying/ripening time during the last two weeks or even 5-7 days before harvest, as it saturates the bean killing greens and roots.

  15. I don't believe this , Split Peas ( green or yellow) are hands down the best since they have high amounts of CYSTEINE which reduces the body's demand for Methionine , and legumes have Methionine as the limiting Amino acid. Dont let polyphenol Antioxidant content be the only determinant of your food, if that is so we should all be eating Almond Skins and Walnut Skins and Kudzu roots or some weird and exotic tree bark . Sulfur containing amino acids replenish Glutathione , not Anthocyanins or Tannins. Split peas reduce blood pressure by increasing Transient BUN values that act as a natural electrolyte sparing diuretic while preventing sodium and potassium excretion and hyponatremia. After split peas comes split black eye beans which is difficult to procure though. Legumes are generally rich in Lysine and Lysine also has protective effects on Kidney health which equates Cardio Health , Lysine supplementation can partly reverse chronic hyponatremia by allowing excess water to get excreted , old world legumes like Lentils and Peas are higher in lysine and peas also have the Cysteine content that most legumes lack . The body can convert Methionine to Cysteine , but Methionine can form homocysteine during the conversion process , direct source of Cysteine bypass that conversion pathway reducing Methionine demands.
