  1. Thanks. Interesting to learn about that reaction. It seems to me that while moringa leaves are thought to be beneficial, the morninga pods, called drumsticks, are eaten far more, in many parts of the subcontinent. The pods are a popular ingredient of Sindhi cuisine (My parents came from Sindh, now in Pakistan, at the time of the Partition which accompanied freedom from the British in 1947. My mother told me that in Hyderabad, Sindh, every house had a drumstick tree. The pods are available in many places, like the Delhi of my childhood.) Yet I have never eaten the leaves, either at home or in South Indian restaurants where wherever and whenever available morninga pods are used in the delicious sambhar, a lentil soup which is a staple preparation. Though my friend's Sri Lankan wife spoke of cooking the leaves, as recently did my Goan friend. It would be interesting to know if that skin reaction is caused by the morninga pods too. Incidentally, as I type I have just finished a meal containing a few pieces of a morninga pod. 😋. A delicious, somehow sap like, flavour. Yes I've never consumed the sap of plants but still…

  2. I've been using moringa powder here and there with no side effects. I've watched and read very good and useful info about this tree which leaves are a staple in many countries. I will also continue eating broccoli as well…

  3. In this case study that Dr. G reported of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Dr. G. didn't mention this guy was on metformin and enalapril (an ACE inhibitor) for 5 years.

The issue I have is that things like grapefruit and grapefruit juice are not recommended for people on certain medications due to interactions. This is likely a similar situation.

In what is probably a benign food for most people becomes highly toxic or the body is utilizing the chemicals in the moringa to rapidly detox the body of the drugs he is consuming so this case study is a poor cautionary tale given the circumstances surrounding the patient.

They also don't state how much moringa he consumed, only that he consumed it.

I gather it was probably the ACE inhibitor that was interacting with the moringa since moringa is a potent plant. It's not that the plant is the problem, from my perspective so much as it's the cofactors of what he is taking in addition to eating moringa.

If people understood how drugs work, they wouldn't take them. Your body isn't out of control and it isn't falling apart. It's a sign it is working to get rid of the problem. Getting to the root of the problem is key to getting these people off their drugs. But no, the medical establishment will not recognize or promote this key fact. The body isn't on a path to self-destruction, it's on a path to healing. That's what symptoms are, a sign that the body is working hard to get back to a normal health status. Drugs just suppress the problem and then you enter in something else, either another drug or a food or drink that isn't friendly with the drug and all hell breaks loose in the body.

  4. Well, if Moringa really were the most nutritious thing ever, as people are selling it, it could be worth the risk. But as Moringa's nutritional benefits were mostly exaggerated, as shown in the previous video, then it's better to avoid it and get nutrition from elsewhere.

  5. Moringa is an anti-inflammatory, 50g. a day in a smoothie cured a 8 year old back sciatic nerve inflammation problem of mine. You are I'll advised, moringa is a superfood anyone can grow at home! It has many more benefits i won't take the time to make the case for… Just Google it.

  6. I havent had any evident adverse affects , consistently consuming moringa from my own trees. I juice it, I put it in smoothies, I eat leaves and flowers straight off the trees.
I think more studies need to be done. I do not embrace these results yet.

  7. Have you heard Dr. McDougall say "Eat The Food" ?. I think same applies here. Eat the pods and fresh leaves of Moringa. Not some dried pill form.

  8. I just made my first Moringa Tea. I used a pour over coffee cone, kuli kuli moringa powder, pour over at 192 degrees. The color surprised me, looks like a black tea. Tastes kind of bitter, but not bad.

What are the chemical differences between fresh powder and heated preparations?

  9. Since many children can't write, I suspect an underreporting of broccoli induced nausea. I've witnessed an underaged child attempt to give an oral case report of the nausea it experienced immediately after the ingestion of a spoonful of broccoli. From the parent/guardian's insistence for them to nevertheless continue the administration and "finish their broccoli", I highly doubt they were planning to take this up with their physician.

  10. Again, this certainly reeks of privilege, and I guess I'm dead… because myself and a huge portion of the world have relied on fresh moringa as a vegetable in climates where it is too hot to grow other greens in the long hot summer, and can't always afford to buy "broccoli"! I'm also wondering how often you use *powdered broccoli*… and WHY you even would??? Especially if you are poor and hungry and just want to eat. Overpriced "powder" is a first world marketing invention, Moringa has been a staple FOOD in many countries for ages, and it is still helping to the world! https://echonet.squarespace

  11. I wonder if the good doctor ever considers the process of the products in question when it comes to supplements. There are so many folklore remedies where the modern production of the magic pill have little resemblance to the original form.
Spirulina comes to mind. The ancients that consumed it did not dessicate it in a drying chamber or freeze dry it. The typical form that is consumed today has none of the digestive enzymes or vitality that it has when consumed fresh. Actually, spirulina in it's dry form is classified as a supplement. The slightly off putting smell and taste is actually a form of decomposition. Contrarily, freshly harvested and not previously frozen spirulina is classified as a food. It is as much alive as a head of broccoli. Probably the most nutrient dense food known. There seems to be no limit as to how much one can consume whereas the powdered form loses it's efficacy past two tablespoons where the decomposed analoges take over.
My point is that often times we dismiss folklore because we are comparing apples to oranges.

  12. I'm a big fan of Dr. Greger but why would he make a decision about Moringa based on a case study of 1 patient who got a rare condition? I could see if it were a meta analysis or double blind. This is just not scientific. what about when you factor in the wide availability in low income countries, sulphoraphane-like components, and high nutrition mentioned in earlier video?

  13. In INDIA especially in South side every family has it's own moringa 🌲. There is a saying here "முருங்கையை நட்டவன் வெறுங்கையோடு போவான்"it means " if a man plants moringa tree he will go with empty hand " if a man plants moringa tree he will eat it's leaves and drumsticks more often ,so the man will go with empty hand without a stick in his old days.
Moringa is good when you eat it in a controlled amount, eating more moringa leaves(more than about 150g) may cause you diarrhoea cause it have more fibre. Don't buy supplements moringa is a very easy plant to grow in your backyard.
If you don't like the taste of moringa try it as a soup, moringa soup is pretty famous here, and if I have any grammar mistakes don't complain me.

  14. Wow… this went from "why no placebo group in 300 studies?" to "here's the rest of the story…"
Thanks for keepin' it real, Doc.
Too many people buy "this month's flavored lawn-clippings" instead of good food.
Apparently people never learn… there are no "magical miracle plants".
Vegetables can do miracles too… especially if you just eat them once in a while… 😁

  15. I just finished eating a moringa pod soup! I have been eating moringa (I am half Filipino and we call it marungai) since childhood. It is one of our favorite ancestral foods. We eat the leaves often and the pods when the tree bears fruit. We always at least blanch the leaves. Almost powders are only dried. I have tried it raw this way and it definitely hurt my throat, but when cooked a little as in a tea it is fine. Please don’t knock a food that has been health giving to many non-western countries before looking into it more. I can go to many yards in Hawaii and find moringa…broccoli pretty much never. It’s probably not something to be used as a supplement, but it is a great addition to a whole food plant based diet you advocate.

  16. I think the problem is with Western "Superfoods" Magic market. Many people over the world use moringa fresh leaves as tea or vegetable in their cooking for long time. Today, western marketers convert it into a weird powder and label it superfood. Bizarre.

  17. Moringa flower stir fry (Muringa poovu thoran in Malayalam) is the tastiest of all foods I ever had. Comparable only to spicy fried tender cashew nuts (Pacha kasuvandi mezhukkupuratti). These items will never be available in hotels or any other eateries. It is hard to accumulate these in enough quantities for commercial production probably. Shelf life also is shorter.

  18. Anything you buy from farmers is good. If you are buying products that are manufacturer or processed, packaged and marketed. Don't eat them

  19. I will still eat Moringa in moderation. I disagree 1st time with Dr. Greger here. It is plant food, not a processed junk or animal based.

  20. WOW , where do I start this video was so off!!? You should eat 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of Moringa Leaf Powder per day everyday for the rest of your life!! Broccoli 🥦 isn't even a vegetable it's man-made!! Yes Moringa can be grown anywhere but it is better from far Eastern Civilization because of the soil. Try buying direct from a company and avoid buying from Amazon, Etsy, or Ebay. All Moringa isn't created equal and they're not all the same. He only talked about blood sugar levels but didn't talk about the other 300+ diseases that Moringa helps prevent mucus from building up in the human body. I see the dislike button running up on this video real quick. For premium and inexpensive Moringa visit my channel and website NOW.

  21. This is a ridiculous report! I have 3 Moringa trees in my yard.🇨🇱 I have been using it daily for 4 yrs. Helped me get through the Covid & Delta virus. Look up all the other nutritional value of this plant. Lots of vitamin C. Look up all the people from Third world countries who have grown up eating this great plant!!!

  22. There is no way to standardized the moringa leaf powder. Such inconsistencies should be blamed on the variability in the substance or drug itself.

  23. As a member of the hypochondriacs, disease of the month club, I will raise the awareness of genital blistering in our next meeting.

  24. I am a bit confused about the warning for pregnant women – so far, I had read many articles which suggested help during pregnancy, before and after; now, he suggested the complete opposite, which is concerning. From what I understand, the leaves are safe; however, the roots can be toxic.
    Any thoughts on that, anyone?!

  25. I've been experimenting with moringa for 1 year now. It has helped me with a sugar problem with no adverse side effects yet , compared to prescribe medicines a doctor issued . One tablet a day and sugar has no effect on me and when I stop taking it, I have 4 days until my problems shows back up(this is with having more then usual amount of sugar).

  26. Hundreds millions of people consume moringa/murungai/malunggay every single day. Suggesting it can cause genital warts is downright libelous.

  27. A company can't own a patent from natural plant part preparations — only on chemical compounds synthesized in a laboratory. So, the drug cos can't make the huge profits from moringa like their patented medicines. Of course, anything that threatens their $ will receive criticism and seeds of doubt will surely be spread!

  28. I just had surgery. I was hurting so bad I didn't want to move, I took moringa in my coffe.and within 3 hours my pain was less than half

  29. I believe that your statement about Moringa leaf powder causing abortions is incorrect. The bark acts as an abortificant and is used for such in some countries. Ayurvedic medicine has used Moringa for 400 years. The World Health Organization has been using Moringa for 40 years to treat malnutrition (2 week turnaround), and is given to lactating mothers to increase milk production. It has other benefits relating to conception and pregnancy as well. I first tried Moringa when I had arthritis in both wrists, painful up to my elbows — all day, every day. The diagnosis was confirmed by xray. I didn't want to take steroids or have surgery, so tried Moringa after seeing a YouTube video. Within 5 days, I felt improvement. Before 2 weeks had ended, I had no more pain. I have continued taking it and have had no further problems. Not everyone I've recommended it to has had such success, but some have. At the very least, it's a great multi-vitamin — totally natural and with more nutrients than most foods, an immune booster, with all the amino acids and some minerals, and — rare for a plant — protein (great for vegans/vegetarians)! My energy level has been better since I began taking it (two capsules every morning) and I generally feel much better generally than before I was taking it. Can you tell… I'm a fan!

  30. Where can I find the last study and what were the controls that were done? How do we know definitively that it was Moringa and not any other type of Environmental factors?

  31. from london uk. Just becuse white westerners have insufficient research. it does not give u permission as a white privileged doctor to write off a food consumed by Africans and Asians for hundreds of years. African and Asians be consuming garlic for centuries-

for 2022- please stop the christoper columbus delivery..

  32. SPONSORED BY BIG PHARMA. I CURE MY SINUS INFECTION WITH GARLIC NASAL RINSE WITH A NETI POT! I WENT BACK TO THE DOCTOR AND HE SAID MY INFECTION W WAS GONE. I TOLD HIM I USED GARLIC AND HE DIDN'T BELIEVE ME. OR HE WAS ACTING! PLANTS HEAL OUR BODIES! ANTIBIOTICS KILL 200K PEOPLE A YEAR!

  33. Ok, soooo everyone in Africa, India, Pakistan, Philippines… is…. dead because they ate moringa since the beginning.
My ancestors never heard of broccoli, barely ate any vegetables, they never got sick and they lived well into old age and died because they were old. They ate everything that modern science says not to eat. Pork, lard, cow's milk and cheese, corn and wheat bread and potatoes. It seems that we cannot survive without broccoli and broccoli sprouts.

  34. 10s of thousands of people are benefiting from this herb, even in pakistan and other asian countries people are giving testimonies, so who should I believe you.

My mother was suffering from severe arthritis pain, after taking this harm from less than a month, she is 90% cured.

  35. There’s something to be said about how this video’s references to these studies do not reflect the majority of countless testimonies you see across the web claiming the overall benefits. It’s sad to see how the video exemplifies one negative reaction to moringa and suggests broccoli instead lol. Not hating on broccoli cmon but you don’t read broccoli reversing one’s arthritis or prostate cancer.

  36. a ton of stuff randomly causes SJS. I don't think that one account of SJS (and SJS is a weird random thing) can discount a whole food that numerous groups of people use to stay healthy…particularly that is of benefit lower income folks in 3rd world countries.

  37. Moringa cured my diary allergy. No pains anymore. I take 2 tablets a day sometimes 3 if I eat 3 meals. Vegetables never did anything for my allergies. I take the risk. My crp gone down with it. I have been at it for 4 weeks.
