  1. But Cholesterol isn't the problem unless too low. High cholesterol is associated with increased longevity. There has not been a single tightly-controlled clinical trial that has produced any reduction in CHD mortality that can honestly be attributed to saturated fat restriction or cholesterol-lowering. Long-term follow-up studies have shown that those with the lowest cholesterol levels tend to live the shortest lives.

  2. This video must have been made by those making the food pyramid. For starters virgin coconut oil has proven benefits and butter doesn't deserve the bad reputation it gets. It's sad that I go into stores and see 2 or 3 choices for butter and 50 choices for margarine or go out to eat and they ask if I want butter, but give me margarine. Leave butter alone, it's the margarine that's causing all the heart disease

  3. It'd be wonderful if you could post it to this specific video on nutritionfacts. org. This way more people benefit from the response, and I can actually provide you with links (which I can't do on Youtube). Thanks!

  4. this video was made by someone who actually comprehends science, UNLIKE you. There isn't a scrap of modern peer-reviewed science to support anything positive about butter, it's terrible for you.

  5. No there aren't. There are MANY to show that the lower your cholesterol the more strokes, heart attacks, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, suicide, etc.

  6. So-called heart-healthy Polyunsaturated vegetable oils have been linked to cancer and Heart disease.

Here are some books & articles on cholesterol, saturated fat and coronary heart disease that I recommend you to check out.

  7. I can give you Hundreds of studies of low carb/higher fat/protein diets decreasing all inflammatory markers for liver disease, heart disease and diabetes. And many more.

There is NO data that shows all positive results of a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet on triglycerides, uric acid, cholesterol, blood pressure and cardiac output in people with existing diseases over 2 or 3 years.

    It doesn't exist.

Not 1 study. I wonder why.

  8. His position on coconut oil — in many videos — has been consistently negative despite contrary points of view. Additionally his views on cholesterol have seemed "old-school".  I'm wondering if he ever reviews contrasting/opposing studies/reports.

  9. Are natural, organic source substances good for you (even one that can be taken introveinously) or processed, GMO manufactured (best bits taken OUT [fiber, nutrients, color] and sugar, polyunsaturated oils, plus whatever proprietary, added) substances? Thanks Doc, I'll avoid NutFacts in the future.

  10. This is complete BS, bad science, and a biased opinion. This guy also thinks Avocados "rip our healthy cells limb from limb".  I hate to break it to you, but Saturated Fat is REALLY HEALTHY. Do your research.  Your low-fat, high carb diet is the core of our health crisis (well that, and all of the chemically modified food and additives/preservatives/artificial colors and sweeteners).

  11. But BUTTER is back on the good list and I eat a lot of coconut oil too (raw, organic you know)

Now, if we can get them to put BACON and HEAVY CREAM on the good list.  In the meantime, you can bet I'm going to continue on my eating and drinking same.  Talk about good stuff.

  12. interesting viewpoint… i just wonder why you don't say why coconut butter is harmful???… i actually agree, based on intuition and eating coconuts of all stages for years…. i noticed the marketing increase in hype about coconut butter recently, read some of the reviews and information… one question i have is they say half of the saturated fat in coconut oil or butter is healthy because it contains short chain fatty acids, that are easy for the body to digest….. but so far can't find any info on the other half of the saturated fats in coconut oil…. is that other half harder to digest long chain fatty acids???…. assuming i am accurately describing what i am reading???… personally, i have tried all stages of coconuts for years, and intuitively feel it best to drink the younger water, and eat just the earlier jelly meat stage, and never felt good about eating rubber meat or mature hard meat, they seem heavier, harder to digest, and sometimes combine poorly with other foods…. any feedback on this would be appreciated….

  13. This is a subject that needs more studies reviewed in order to determine  ( helpful or harmful )   Dr. Esselstyn has found that Oil is bad for the heart – but i wonder if Coconut Oil is good for the brain

  14. All things in moderation, for me fish, cheese, eggs, fruit and veg. No bread, butter or margarine. If we listened to everything everybody said we wouldn't eat anything!!

  15. Dr Gregor's advice, should you decide to take it, is as harmful as chemotherapy milkshake.
Just make sure your coconut oil is centrifuge extracted and organic and your good to go with it.  Research oil pulling

  16. Conclusion: These data suggest…

    WTF?

do you even read this stuff?  It looks like your video is claiming the OPPOSITE of the study it quotes for support.

  17. DON'T MESS WITH MY COCONUTS! LOL, some people sure can't handle info that conflicts with their beliefs. Dr. G's just citing the evidence; if you don't like it, put your torches down and go eat some coconut butter. Otherwise, just steer away from the stuff. It's that simple.

  18. "It is as harmful as butter." – Shows a blurred out study that contradicts his statement. Yeah, I will definitely not listen to anything this guy has to say, ever again.

  19. interisting points, if enyone else wants to uncover for eating healthy try Corbandy Coconut Crusher (should be on google have a look)? I've heard some decent things about it and my friend got exellent results with it.

  20. coconut oil is great and so is organic  butter  this guy is a disinfo  artist   a spinner of half truths  ! don't listen to a word he says !! do your own research  he is a Big Pharma shill!

  21. People are too lazy to open actual coconuts because it requires actual effort to source them and crack the shell in order to get the flesh… Therefore, it's much easier to consume the processed oil (100% concentrated coconut fat – where the hell do you find such stuff in nature)? and channel their anger here… Bottoms up, keep cooking with your coconut oil, I'll enjoy some fresh young coconut smoothie instead.

  22. If you read the study that the guy puts in the video, it actually said that LDL cholesterol was significantly lower with coconut oil than butter, but he still says that it is as harmful?

  23. What Dr. Greger says is correct.  In terms of cholesterol, coconut oil is as harmful as butter.  That's true.  Since cholesterol is an essential part of the body and butter is good for you, so coconut oil is also good for you.  That's what Dr. Greger is really saying, however his spin and attitude may lead you to think differently.  So the real question is: Is Dr. Greger harmful, harmless, or helpful?  I would say harmful is the correct answer due to his evasive and manipulative manner.

  24. You coconut oil fanatics are out of touch with reality, numerous studies have proven it's bad for you(raises cholesterol, emits toxic fumes when heated, etc). I believe Dr Greger over any coconut oil quack, his opinion is based on scientific studies while the online quacks don't back up their claims.

  25. This was frustratingly short sided. Talk about your cliff hangers…yeesh. What about it's proposed neurological benefit, this clip made no mention of any of that

  26. He didn't differentiate between refined processed coconut oil and 'virgin' coconut oil. This video seems very short; 'is coconut oil bad for you? Yes. The end. I would have preferred a more in-depth video than this.

  27. Dr. Grenger says, "[Coconut oil] is as harmful as butter." Which I take it to mean that it is as good for your health as butter. Thanks for convincing me that coconut oil is good.

  28. All information I get from orthedox acamdemic studies show that coconut oil is bad for health. Meanwhile, I get all information from coconut oil traders offer me that coconut oil is good for health. You see the fact?
You can pick out few of advantages for coconut oil but it cannot deduce coconut oil is good for health. Base on the same logic, you can pick out few of advantages for smoking, drinking, cannibis, sexual abusive…… Is it really good for your health?

  29. I see no evidende in this video. The conclusion of the study at the end of the video
    "CONCLUSIONS:
These data suggest that cholesterol synthesis is lower during diets rich in coconut fat and safflower oil compared with diets rich in butter and might be associated with lower production rates of apoB-containing lipoproteins"

  30. What do you think about coconut butter? People say it's whole food. I tried it today and not only felt very satisfied and energized. I instantly felt positive results of adding it to my buckwheat flakes porrige. Just 1 tsp! I noticed the difference because I felt low energy for 3 days before that.
I started sort of hclf starch solution around 6 weeks ago, and excluded all oils (which makes sense to me), and I stick to whole foods. I eat enough calories (according to cronometer everything is fine), but for the last 2 weeks I feel lack of energy, although I am more satiated with rice, pasta, beans, lentils, porriges and potatoes. Although I eat freshly ground flax, hemp, chia, poppy and sesame seeds on almost every meal, pumpkin seeds and sprouted sunflower seeds and eat soaked nuts 3 times a week to make up for my fat intake, minerals and omegas, I lost my period (waiting for it for 11 days already, and it's not there yet) 🙁 My fats are ususally around 15% of my calories. It may be due to many other factors which I don't know, but being a long term vegetarian and then junk food (or gourme) vegan I never had such a thing. So I got upset. Long story short I decided to add nut and seed butters to my diet, because many vegans on youtube suggest that the loss of period may be due to decreased fat content in diet (my BMI is 21.60 so I even have around 4 kilos to lose). I bought organic pure coconut butter, peanut butter and hempseed butter. Today my husband and I tried coconut butter with our breakfast (BTW, my husband thrives on any type of vegetarian or vegan diet and likes his carbs a lot. Damn he is so healthy, I just envy him ^_^ although I eat the same and exercise 5 times a week and he doesn't, and he is lean and happy, which makes me feel like something metaphysical is going on). So, back to the breakfast. My husband ate 2 tsp. with his meal and said he felt bad and wanted to throw up because it was too fatty for him. I ate just 1 tsp. with my porrige with berries and topinambur syrup, and… everything was fine! Moreover, my pancreas (I have chronic pancreatitis which reminds me of itself for couple of days once or twice a year) did not respond at all, my hands were not shaking, nothing bad happened, my energy started to rise slowly and in 5 hours I still feel satiated. Maybe this is a personal or genetic thing, and I really should add more whole fats than my husband does (I don't know why seeds and nuts did not work so well?). I am sincerely puzzled and don't know what's the best way to eat. I watched SO many controversial videos on youtube with controversial experience and science, so now common sense and experiments are the only trustworthy things for me now. But I want to thrive on my vegan diet long term and have kids.
Who had the experience with coconut butter and other butters and what can you suggest? (Sorry for the long post).

  31. Urdoinitwrong or some strange handle……anyway…..I, ..like millions of others still around, was born in the 1950's. We were bought up on butter, cooking Bacon in the pan, then dipping a slice of bread in there, soaking it with fat. According to so very knowledgeable people like you, we should have all been dead of heart attack by 1961. er….I had my NHS medical two weeks ago, heart, bmi, and cholesterol were in the "I'm alright jack".. Column, I've been having two teaspoons of extra virgin coconut oil a day for about 14 months now. You carry on with your processed grass mate, it must be good for you.

  32. Some of these responses are hilarious. I wonder what they would think now in 2018 after some blood work. I mean to be fair this video does need a bit more explanation, but he does go into detail in other videos. Plus you can do your own research (non bias and science based of course). I agree with this research. Stay clear of this stuff and coconut milk too! I have personal proof this sh*t raises ldl and hdl. Plus it’s just common sense!✌🏼

  33. Extremely biased guy. He takes results based on "excessive consumption" of a food group and uses it to conclude that any amount of it is harmful. Most types of "good" fats can increase cholesterol if consumed in excess but in appropriate quantity they would definitely have benefits.

  34. Here in southern India we use coconut oil for everything cooking to bathing and no ❤️ issues they are healthy with omega 3 from fishes good to go 👍 the moderation is key but what other diets you add can minimize their risks

I commenti sono chiusi.
