  1. Interesting info. Thanks for sharing Mr. Greger! It appears that always a simple walk around the block after a meal is a good practice. P.S. I love my new red lentil flat cake recipe!

  2. NOTE: A postprandial walk of the same distance and intensity is up to 30% more effective at controlling blood sugar than the same exercise before a meal. BUT, exercising six hours before a meal optimises fat burning. A tough choice indeed.

  3. I normally do a 15 minute HIIT cardio before breakfast, after not eating for 15 hours. I will do strength and resistance training later in the day after eating. I also love me some tasty yellow split pea soup.

  4. Electric bicycles are bringing many older adults back to cycling.
Ebikes makes those hills much less of an issue.. Every city needs to be a bicycle city.
We all need to support healthy exercise and fossil fuels free transportation options.
Add a little more green space, bike lanes and outdoor dining to the city and it is a winner.

  5. I would argue (based on current theory as there’s no trial yet) exercising after meals in diabetics to control blood sugar is just treating the symptoms and not the cause. If exercising in the morning in a fasting state burns more fat and fat is linked to insulin resistance (i.e. type 2 diabetes) then in the long run a whole food plant based diet with exercise in the fasting state would be best.

Also it’s much easier to put in a good workout with water alone during a fasting state with an empty stomach than trying to do intense exercise with a full stomach.

  6. I've heard that if we exercise after a fast we burn muscle, which would also explain the lack of difference between those exercising before and after meals, as muscle is more metabolically active than fat when resting.

  7. I take 1tbsp of beet root powder as a pre-workout—I'm looking for boosted vasodilation from the nitrates in it. Do you posit this pre-workout would affect the fasting time required to see the benefits of fasted exercise?

  8. Exercising before meals blunts my post meal insulin spike because the muscle are grabbing more glucose when I eat, lowering insulin requirements.

30 reps of 25 lb dumbbell curls any time I am losing mental focus from high blood sugar brings it down enough and only takes a couple of minutes.

  9. why dont you share your blood results, bio age, your Vo2 max, grip strength so we validate the value of your book on aging

  10. I would like to know what cortisol is doing when exercising in a fasted state. For people with autoimmune issues exercising fasted can be interpreted as more stress.

  11. Wouldn't the recommendations for diabetic be beneficial for the rest of the population since so many people are insulin resistant or prediabetic without realizing it?

  12. I started never eating breakfast about 9 months ago quit beer and don't eat anything until after 12:00 P.M. and if I am not hungry don't eat dinner and after about 3 months lost 30 pounds. Now have less weight than I did when in my 20,s and I just turned 67 years Nov. 12.
