12 Risposte a “Podcast: Vegetarian Athletes”

  1. It's no doubt mentioned elsewhere, but too many animal foods and saturated fat have got to slow a person down. I mean, just look at the blood. You can thin it out or you can thicken it depending on what you eat. Who can run on motor oil moving through the veins compared to high octane premium unleaded?

I, for one, can't move as well after heavy meals. It's a gross feeling.

  2. just one data point, but I've been vegan and a long distance runner for 20 years. Now that I'm 46 I am in the best fitness in my life, recently ran an 18:00 5k and a 36:42 10k time trial. Practically everyone I know in my age group has dropped off in their performance.

On another point, I was compiling a list of Olympic marathon runners that competed in the 1950s and age of their deaths, and it seems most of them died earlier than life expectancy, many of them having heart issues. The one difference were the Japanese runners, most of whom lived through their 90s. There was no resource on their diets but the Japanese are known for a more plant-based diet.

  3. It appears that you are not willing to share your blood results, your Vo2 max, your grip strength and your bio-age. This lacks of transparency clears shows that your book on aging is a total joke and your recommendations useless

  4. Reversed 20 years of T2D going whole food plant based. Then after several years became an ultramarathoner. Placed 3rd in a 160 miler. 55y/o. Got nothing else to say

  5. Michael, can you please make a video for organic whey protein.
I am vegan since 10 years now and vegetarian half my life (20 years), but I have never benefited more from an isolated protein other than whey protein.
It would be nice to make a video for health and performance pros and cons of whey protein (and other protein isolates). Thanks 🙂
