I tassi di cancro drammaticamente più bassi in India possono essere in parte attribuibili alla loro dieta più a base vegetale e ricca di spezie.

  1. add a little black pepper to everything you make with turmeric.
you won't get the benefits of the turmeric without the black pepper assistance.

  2. Check out Vah Chef on Youtube.  He has great, concise recipes (over 1000), and has just started a new series of oil-free recipes called "be cool, be fit" sponsored by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.  I am! going to make his version of oil free aloo gobi matar tonight!  Also, check out recipes for golden milk – yum.

  3. I'm picky about my spices–Indian style food is my least favorite as the spices don't sit well in my stomach :/ Any advice or thoughts on how I can eat more? I use a bit of turmeric when I make tofu scrambles maybe once a week or so but that's it, I really dislike the flavor of it. I guess I'll have to give it another try, get creative with it if it is as good for us as people think.

  4. Anyone here has read Paul Jaminet's book The Perfect Health Diet? It says we should be getting 50% of our calories from fats and that we should eliminate wheat as it is causing heart disease

  5. I am from India and cancer rates there are rising now!! Too much pollution, adulterated food, and low vegetable intake is to blame I think.

  6. Mulch-targeted medicine is a bunch of nonsense brought to you by big pharma who wish to cut their research and manufacturing costs…sell you another side effect inducing pill and send you to the hospital where they dominate the items needed for operations and treatments…all the while, bashing natural supplements and natural food…
I am also not a fan of the fads in suppliments…the deep sea alge, the mountian railfied tea. the fish oils ….we never ate that stuff to much degree so why would we make it part of our dient now afyer a million years of real foods, meat, nuts, berries, fruits, grains,…whatever we scavanged..with no fads, no doctors, no medicines high stress, mostly UN-sheltered, …yet here we are,  alive and well…

Secondly this connection to populations who eat a lot of something and then have less ailments is really jumping to unfounded conclusions and not considering all other aspects of life that effect the data…
While this VEGAN leaning doctor is correct in his insertion that these spices such as Garlic, Curry, hot and mild peppers, Tumric, are all excellent for your body… the lack of meat can also be harmful by not supplying the proteins and enzymes needed for healthy digestion, cell growth, and bone production.  The MAJOR advantage factor that the Indian diet has, that the USA does not, is the lack of (minimal) preservatives, coloring, BHT, salts, artificial sugars and fructose, etc.

I believe wholly in eating real good food..and that means a variety including meat….and while I am not a doctor…I did cure my unstable angina with out any pills…just changing to real food and natural supplements… so no vegan named Sunshine could ever change my mind on meat..it is down right…LIBERAL. he he

  7. Well, I'm from India. I should say prevalency of CHD and DM are high in India because we have high consumption of rice and sugar based food and coconut oil. I hope you will consider this, before you try Indian foods:)

  8. Dean Ornish now says that one diet fits all is not a proper advice as our bodies and genetic makeup are different. He did say that third world food is the healthiest.

  9. India has a warm climate and people get tons of sunshine. They are also 5 to 10 times more physically active than your average American. People walk to small mom & pop stores to buy grocery items. They keep moving a lot. I was in India 3 months back and I lost 10 pounds in a month lol

  10. Funny how you mentioned nothing about the discrepancy in detection rates between India and Western countries. The difference in cancer diagnoses is likely due to less access to, and poorer quality of health care in India. Just because cancer isn't diagnosed in a population does NOT mean it doesn't exist.

  11. Guys ..MESSAGE FROM AN INDIAN WHOSE FAMILY IS ENGAGED IN AGRICULTURE IN INDIA
The fresh fruits and vegetables above mentioned is irrelevant because everything is loaded here with unneccessarily huge amount of pestcides and insecticides. Its because of the low level education related the dose usage.
My brother had his whole stock of pomegranates rejected by some european country because the insecticides and pesticides level in it were too high than the EU standards.
We have quantity here but the quality is shitty as anything.
Also..we sure eat an unnecessary amount of spices .So much that the original taste of the vegetables is completely destroyed, not to mention the 1 INCH layer of oil on everything.
ABOUT THE MEAT THING – The young generation is eating a copius amount of meat especially broiler chicken.thanks to the KFC's and Mcdonaland's and others .Again the goddamned tasty spices are a huge factor in the increased consumption. They surely make everything tasty.
ABOUT THE CANCER THING- ITS ON A RISE . Google for " CANCER EXPRESS PUNJAB "
A special train for insecticides and pesticides related cancers. If not now we are soon going to take the lead in cancers and stuff owing to the stupidity ,foolishness, and the habit of blind following among Indians .
So think about everything before making any rash decisions.PLEASE !!!!

  12. Indian food or not, make use of the spices yourself. Eating out can be more harmful then eating non-turmeric based food. I am sure Dr Greger does not mean you can consume the oil and salt as well. I prepare my own food, unpalatable for many but it has become a norm for me. Spices and spices….

  13. Uh, hello! In the last decade and a half there have been over 6000 scientifically monitored clinical tests from colleges universities and other research institutes all over the world and that includes MD Anderson Cancer, and the American Cancer Society. These Studies have been published in major medical journals. The general consensus from all of these studies States that curcumin turmeric is at least 10 times, and up to 100 times, more effective than the number one chemotherapy drug tamoxifen! Look it up for yourself. Go to pubmed.gov you'll find a lot of information there. This guy is so far behind the times it isn't even funny!

  14. Those figures if completely true are staggering. I mean 23 times the number of people getting prostate cancer in USA compared to India! Woah there, get some curry powder !!

  15. There are some that say India is a bad example because the keep poor records in the rural regions along with misdiagnosed. How accurate are their stats.

  17. Watch out for powdered turmeric, lead chromate is often added to enhance
the color, and to add weight, as it is sold by weight. Fresh turmeric
    should be ok.
