“Those who don’t know where to get protein on a plant-based diet don’t know beans.”

Those eating plant-based diets average about twice the estimated daily protein requirement. The myth that proteins from plants are incomplete, necessitating protein combining, was debunked decades ago by the scientific community.

  1. 8g/100g of protein of lower bioavailybility in beans, 15 g in soy (don´t compare dry with cooked ones) compared to meat with 18 to 30 g/100g highly bioavailable protein.

  2. Really? Cooked beans are about 9g of protein per 100g of the food (1/3 of chicken and beef) so I would need to eat over 1kg of beans daily to get to the protein levels optimal for health. The simple fact is besides soy products it's very hard to get enough protein on a plant-based diet without going overboard with the total calories or using supplements. Probably why so many vegans have BMIs close to being underweight with very little muscles unless they supplement.

  3. They're also classified as incomplete protein, that is, they don't contain 22 Amino Acids.
If people want to use plant based diets, they need to learn they have to combine protein sources, to create complete protein from their foods .

  4. The thoughts debate between Prof. LUSTGARTEN and Tony needed to happen and it took place in no men' land 😊. We learned a lot from this interaction of two schools of ideas. Thx prof. LUSTGARTEN and TONY.

  5. I used to think dried beans were on the same level as breakfast cereal because they're both dry. But cereal is highly processed, whereas beans are living organisms. You can actually plant those beans in the ground and they will sprout🌱

  6. Don't you know that these people with the comments pro meat, against plants, are just trying to trigger you? And then you obliged them. Not smart. Leave those people to their meat. When they die of heart attacks or strokes, the vegans will be around to outlive them. They don't know anything about the Blue Zones, either.
