  1. Stevia has been used extensively for years in Japan and Brazil as well as other countries. It was banned in the US because of FDA/Sweetener producer relations. The same kind of non sense that legalized many harmful sweeteners because they're good money and good campaign money.

  2. why cant people just enjoy food for their natural taste instead of having all these sweetners second of all its the fatties problem for being fat in the first place havinga low fat sweetner isnt going too make then any skinnier! its the amount of processed food they are consuming that is making them fat!

  3. I have searched hours for ANY research showing negative side effects of stevia, but there isn't any. With the thorough amount of research that has been done, the jury isn't out on stevia. It has proven itself.

  4. It'd be wonderful if you could post it to this specific video on nutritionfacts. org. This way more people benefit from the response, and I can actually provide you with links (which I can't do on Youtube). Thanks!

  5. Does nutrition matter when it comes to artificial sweetener? Like salt, pepper or other favorings the bottom-line is that we think of these as additives to make food taste better. If they have nutrition value, great. As long as a product is harmless don't think there should be much fuss about the issue. Like rice which is in Asian diet for centuries.

If you're going to have a piece of cake or a muffin do you normally think the sugar adds anything to it besides taste?

  6. Laxative effect being harmful, ha. That requires large amounts of the sweetener and subsides once you're used to it, which is very quickly.
Plus the effect is much lessened if it's administered along water, as it is purely osmotic.

  7. I was predicting Stevia to be a green light and Splenda to be a yellow light. Didn't know Splenda could cause migraines!

And Sugar Twin? My wife brought some home after visiting her friend in Canada, A blast from the past; that stuff was worse than Sweet and Low and I think it would make a good rat poison!

  8. All based on the myth that sugar is fattening. Though refined sugar is not healthy at all. So what is the solution? Eat fresh fruit and vegetables. Eat a lot less fat. Don't eat meat and fish and dairy. Oh wait, that's a vegan diet. That won't make money! Here come the trolls.

  9. Well of course all the processed chemicals are bad for us…DUH.  The thing that gets me are the comments here, encouraging a VEGAN diet…ludicrous or is that lunatic !
Ok so you think eating meat is bad.?..tell that to tigers, lions and all other carnivores…. oh WAIT, you want to tell me i am foolish because humans and tigers are not the same and I cannot make that compairison…oh really? yes, you are a lunatic fool to think we did not know we and tigers are different. You better come up with HOW we are different and why they can eat it and we cannot…truth is…protiens, B vitamin complex, enzymens, animal fat, good bacteria, all play a part of why we need an occasional meat orgy….see ya at the poolside grill. (unless the cancer causing sun is just too much for ya., Sunshine.

  10. Anybody have the experience ingesting Stevia and getting tired? I would have to go back to bed for several hours after one packet of this stuff in a drink. No more.

  11. "it's the fatty's fault."  Yeah, that's real good advice from one of the thinner viewers of this post.  The problem goes much deeper however.  A person can be Thin on the outside and Fat on the inside — even the genius who suggested that "it's the fatty's fault."    I hope your body is healthier than your attitude.

  12. Sahira.. thanks, its good to know its all my fault i have diabetes and sugar makes my blood sugar go nuts.. Oh, and its type 1.  SMH.  what a b.

  13. Since it's now late 2014, from what I've seen he needs to update this as some of the studies cited have been withdrawn or are of the correlation does not equal causation type. Sorry, dude, you're out of date on this.

  14. Regarding xylitol: Xylitol is known to reduce the streptococcus mutans population in the mouth. Therefore it is widely used for dental hygiene. But do we know whether it kills/suppresses sugar loving bacteria in the intestinal tract?

  15. so which one is harmless or another one to choose and use ? I thought Stevia is ok etc… but I was suprised. Need to read some more studies on this topic, cant believe it…

  16. i think diet coke is still better than regular coke.  i can't get some of my family members off of pop, so i get them diet.  it's a real problem in our household i have to police it and try to get them to drink water instead of pop.

  17. Could you do a video on IMOs, like they are found in vitafibre?
So, if I used pure VitaFibre (Isomalto-Oligosaccharides), not by taking
QuestBars (I know there is a lot of junk in there), but by using the
syrup in baking, would it be healthy?
Thank you, it is much appreciated!

  18. I see Truvia in your picture above to represent Stevia. I thought Truvia was a blend of Erythritol and Stevia, and is actually mostly Erythritol and a very small % of Stevia.

  19. Xylitol is the best for your teeth because it has an effect that prevents bacteria from sticking to the teeth. Research shows it's not just harmless, but beneficial for oral health. But it can cause diaria when consumed in high enough amounts which is why I only rinse with it.

  20. Green tea and amla is even better. check it out. Studies show its even better than the leading mouth wash and it doesn't cause DNA damage like those other mouth washes.

  21. So is sorbitol only bad because of the laxative effect? Xylitol is a beneficial sugar alcohol despite the laxative effect and will not disrupt the colon in reasonable quantities.

  22. way to brief for just talk about this such a big topic, the effect of what they have found can either be beneficial or harmful in terms of different population group

  23. And then there's those of us who….can't taste sweetness in Stevia! A friend of mine made a punch for children once with Stevia, and she could tell which ones could taste Stevia ( the ones who asked for seconds) and the ones who could not taste the sweetness of Stevia. They made faces and wanted no more punch. This is a good thing to know if you're on the Stevia bandwagon and want everyone else to go along with you…it just may not happen.

  24. Neotame is 10,000 times sweeter than sucrose. When used in such small concentrations with near the same chemical structure as aspartame which isn’t all too bad is it really gonna do anything? Can’t get your hands on it yet but I will.

  25. Well, I dont know if laxative effect should count as "harmful". First, if it dries up intestines, just drink more? Second, I know some people who could use a " laxative effect" now and then. No names named! (For now, till further notice.)

  26. A latter study showed that sacchrine did not cause bladder cancer in humans, but it was due to a specific process in rats that doesn't exist in humans.

  27. Stopped consuming oil, but NO artificial sweeteners is going too far. I need to put artificial sweeteners in my fruit smoothies. I'm pretty sure having fruit with sweeteners is better than little to no fruit but no sweeteners

  28. Could you please make a video about isolated sorbitol intolerance? This would be great. You can't find much about it, and I would like to know, if it will go away, when I change my diet to plant-based.

  29. If a sweetener is excreted in the same form in urine, wouldn’t it be messed up for the environment, the water treatment plants etc?

  30. I wouldn't call xylitol a "harmful" material since a slight laxative effect is not the end of the world. Not talking about other studies which proved a number of potentially beneficial effects like improving oral health or maybe increasing collagen synthesis.

  31. Can you please cover allulose? Apparently it’s excreted by the kidneys and drags glucose out with it, but I can’t seem to find it it causes an insulin spike.

  32. My experience with artificial sweeteners is that I didn't fully get addicted to sugar until I started using the artificial. My craving for chocolate became unstoppable, fruit tasted sour to me. I couldn't tolerate the slightest sour. All that changed when I went to whole plant food diet free of sugar and oils. I'm now working on the salt.

  33. My body runs into trouble if I consume sugar, such as when adding sugar to my coffee. So I switched to TWIN. But I was also not too fond of adding half a packet of TWIN to my cup of coffee. So I tried something new. My coffee maker makes ten cups of coffee. So I filled half of the coffee filter with ground coffee, then added two packs of TWIN, and then added some more ground coffee on top. Success. The coffee was just as sweet as I need it be. So that reduced it down to 0.2 of a TWIN pack per cup of coffee. Somehow, being exposed to heat seems to increase the sweetness.

  34. It's a shame How USA doesn't care about their citizens health they do monitor everything but to be in a favor of the food industry. Never care about US. Ppl. Keep them ignorant and sick and the world belongs to the big industry!
