We crashed Dr. Michael Greger’s book tour. It blew our minds.

Dr. Greger is giving speeches about How Not to Age, his new book — and I noticed a tour stop near us; so we decided to crash it.

100 Risposte a “We crashed Dr. Michael Greger’s book tour. It blew our minds.”

  1. It's so nice to see such a fun video come to light! Would have loved some of those crackers with vegan cheese! Thanks for sharing such a fun night with people who otherwise would not have been able to view.

P.S I would have been happy to see Plant Chompers there too!

  2. Sounds very much like a cult. I think the attack on salt has had a negative outcome, yes many still consume excess salt, which isnt good, but there are many now that dont consume enough. I have normal sodium levels, but i still get low blood pressure at times, since i have upped my salt, that seems to be rectified and blood pressure stays in the normal range. Salt in jerky isnt bad, if you can keep your sodium where it should be for you. Its added nitrates that would be the concern. If you care for the environment, the major concern would be if the food is grown with added nitrates. They are toxic to the soil life, and if you look closely at the nitrogen cycle, they just arent needed.

  3. Seemed like an amazing event. Sorry that I missed the book tour that came through my area in early February. Thanks for the “Special Coverage”.

  4. Interesting event. Well, he finally admitted he is the recipient of his org's charity. I doubt he reads every English language journal. These are examples of things that make some question his intellectual honesty to some extent, but I think he's still worth listening to.

  5. Thanks for mentioning Dr. Gil Carvalho's fact check of Dr. Greger. I found it to be uncharacteristically weak of an effort on Dr. Carvalho's part as well. I mean reviewing Dr Greger based on a 7 min daytime TV 'debate' where neither side was able to back up their claims? Of course it would seem like a 'both sides have a point' debate. IMO better to look at the scores of scientific papers and strength of those papers to determine the best diet for the everyman.

  6. Alright Chris, it's time for you to put together your family's favorite recipes into a book (or even a video book!!!) and sell it for a profit to unabashedly make some money from your channel. Dibs on being the first customer!

  7. Chris, when you say that he looks at vegan diet through rosy glasses, I think you mean that he habitually lies about the benefits. If I ever question my plant-based eating, it is when I see him distort the data.

  8. Oh my gosh, thank you Chris and Michelle for such a great recap of Dr. Greger's talk in Santa Cruz! That was such a fantastic night! Dr. Greger is a national treasure. I have several of his books and I'm reading "How not to Age" right now. He is such a kind man and only wants the best health for all of us :-).

  9. It's not just reduced sodium but INCREASED potassium that is so fundamental! Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but in researching this for my mom the ratio of potassium to sodium is what's most important as they ultimately balance each other. Sadly Americans get as much sodium as they should be getting potassium and vice versa.

  10. " the wellness industry needs to detox." Its an identity issue. A lot of doctors would prefer to pimp products than use their critical thinking skills to help patients get well. Thanks big pharma 🎉

  11. I was a closet vegan from 2011 until 2016. And when I started listening to Dr Greger in 2016 I became so inspired to learn what I can about nutrition. I started organizing my thoughts on a site called VeganWalk, because, like Greger, I loved to walk and even have a treadmill under my stand-up desk. Then in 2017 I started VeganLinked which was more focused on videoing other people instead of myself. And I aspired right away to video doctors doing presentations and maybe meet him one day. I even thought if I ever got to meet him I would be so starstruck I might be something stupid. I've met him a handful of time since though and maintained my cool. I have some really great videos of him doing Q&A's, Presentations, and one of my all-time favorites is one where he gets the vegan Hall of Fame award. NutritionFacts asked me to come out and help shoot his debut talk on how not to diet. I kept rolling after the talk and captured him getting the award. I acquired other people's camera angles and was able to piece it together pretty sweet. I think he deserves a Nobel Peace prize.

  12. Have you seen the recent Red Pen Review of Dr. Gregor's "How Not to Diet"? I was surprised to see that book received an overall score of 68%. It looks like what hurt that book's rating was scientific accuracy. Of the three claims they reviewed, two appeared to be a stretch. I've not read that book, but I have read "How Not to Die" and "How Not to Age". I found his books to be very informative, and his Daily Dozen app helped me transition to a predominately plant-based diet. But after that review from Red Pen, I'm a little more skeptical of some of the claims in his books and videos. I will say, though, that my current go-to source for nutrition and health info is Simon Hill. And I think Chris has a man crush on Simon,. But really, who can blame him.

  13. Chris, another incredible video! Your channel and videos are the most insightful on this subject. Why can't more people just get it that WFPB is the way to better health and healthspan. Keep 'em coming!

  14. Amazed you could walk around without people also begging YOU for selfies!

My husband and I have learned so much from your channel – you’re the first person I ever heard talk about Dr. Greger! I read How Not to Die, and have How Not to Age on the kitchen counter for my next read. 🥦

Say, when’s your book coming out? 😉

  15. Want to decimate the most nature possible from soil to sky, including all the animals? Eat vegan! Congrats on all the loss of habitat and desertification your way of life causes! How about all those fossil fuels and child labor to fill up your whole foods with all the variety of foods "necessary" to your diet? But sure, the giant herds that were keeping America lush with greenery are the problem, right? Height and brain size diminishing when we invented agricultural is just a coincidence, right? A vegetarian and vegan country like India is having an epidemic of health crisis because they've been doing it wrong all these thousands of years, right?

  17. Thanks a lot. Thanks for exposing the beef command center and their minions. O yes, they even hire several hundred trolls to attack plant based doctors who only had less than 10 videos on a certain social platform in my country, without providing a single pieace of evidence and only using pure evil personal attacks. These organized misinformation things must be totally exposed and stopped! God bless!

  18. Thank you for another video Chris! This is a long shot but I am hoping you can help me with something. I studied agriculture education in college and have been a high school ag teacher for a few years. I am leaving the profession for a variety of reasons, a big one being how cozy the profession is with corporate agriculture and the effect that has on our curriculum.

A loud and proud goal of youth ag programs is to create the next generation of “advocates for agriculture.” Given everything you do on this channel, I am sure you can imagine how this becomes problematic…

Anyway, I am hoping to write a book about exactly this but am not sure where to start. I would love to correspond with you further about this if it is of interest to you.

  19. Love it 🫶 I would love to add some goodness to this topic that is often forgotten. Plant based diet helps us heal from all sorts of food addictions. And that is what manufacturers don’t want. They want us to consume more, be needy and miserable so we come back for more. They create products that make us addicted and sick. But when we are thriving on plants we feel more energised, more nourished and less deficient. Plants make us free spirits 💚

  20. He sells dogmatism and misinterprets a lot of studies to fit his pro-vegan narrative. Not a fan of how you have glorified him and Nick Norwitz. Both are untrustworthy. More Kevin Halls and Simon Hill and less o these two

  21. Glad you addressed Carvalho's criticism. His points are fair but he didn't seem aware of how frustrating it might be for someone like Greger to have to debate some random carnivore influencer on GB News. If you want to criticize him, why not focus on his book rather than on a seven minute debate on TV?

  22. As usual, I am very impressed by your video (which, I can assure you, does not happen often on YouTube, although there are very high-quality channels such as PhilosophyTube, something you might enjoy as well).

If you need an idea for a new episode, perhaps commenting Dr Carvalho's videos in more detail would be interesting to the viewers who know him.

  23. How did you find out about the "digital command center" for the beef industry and where can we get more info about it? This is mind boggling they would spend money to monitor social media. Something that is getting overlooked though is that there has been an awful lot of plant foods in recent months being recalled for salmonella and e-coli. I'm rather miffed with all the oat products that have been found unsafe. Lettuce is another worry as I and my pets consume it frequently and there has been numerous recalls on it for years. It appears the entire farming industry is just dirty, not to mention pollution-laden. There is literally nothing I feel safe about eating anymore including water.

  24. Dude changed my life & immediately family. From LDL of 3.7 to 2.2. From producing 80watts for 30 mins before my first ventilatory threshold to being able to support training that took it to 260w for 60 mins. Plants fuel me like never before. The recovery is insane

  25. Happy to see people eating healthier but is it optimal? We dont know since Greger never share any results from his recommendations.

  26. Get a life Mack. Discourse is important in life but character assassination of a true seeker is just bad. Is Gregor perfect? Does he make mistakes? Probably to both. Does his thesis hold water? Absolutely.

  27. I think one of my favourite things about this video is the cutlery based Microphone 😊.

Of course I also enjoyed your commentary as always, but the kid in me was enamoured with the microphone.

  28. I really don't understand the salt study. Didn't they just show that increasing the amount of potassium in your diet can lower acvd risk? How do they conclude it instead is the reduction in salt that promoted the change?

  29. FEEDBACK – SAFETY ISSUE
The Make Shift Microphone – do NOT think this is clever improvisation – INSTEAD – think THAT IS UNSAFE – people can trip and fall forward – a folk is a stabbing piercing sharp ended steel WEAPON. Go to a little effort and dollar expense and get a proper microphone – that would be a MUCH SAFER structure – to be pushing forth at people – as is done with a roving microphone – out there interviewing people.

  30. Thank you so much. I eagerly wait for a new blue dot by the grapes. This one is special as a 78 yo weight lifting, wfpb advocate that has reversed diabetics, cholesterol, and significantly improved bp. Never felt better and have a family history of metabolic syndrome. Thank you and dr Greger for saving my health.

  31. I will give Dr Gregor a lot of credit, as he actually backs his statements by real research… I have had so many arguments with carnivore supporters who when I ask for citations to their claims post youtube videos rather that citations to actual journals.

  32. I've been to two of Greger's book signing lectures in San Diego over the past years. You've done an excellent job of showing everyone what this is like. Greger's rise in popularity is wonderful and I hope his teachings become main stream for the world.

  33. As a professional videographer (and vegan), I am impressed by the innovative use of a fork over knife to turn a lav mic into a stick mic. Your friendly scientific approach is enjoyable music breaking through the static noise of influencer nonsense. You have earned my respect long ago but when I heard you lugged an Ikegami in the Middle East … Wow! As a camerman my respect went to another level. Keep up the great work!

  34. Dr. Greger is my hero. So great content and facts. Made my life worth living again. No doctors or pills have even come close to that. Unfortunately the first Doctors that I listen to on the web were chiropractors like Berg and Bergman most of there advice was bad for me.

  35. Had no idea about the bot army of the beef industry, but it does make sense, since I see it in the comments. You’d think everyone is doing the carnivore diet by the comments, when in reality most people haven’t even heard about it. It’s an uphill battle against them, but we gotta forge ahead.

I know first hand the benefits of a whole food plant based diet, it is the healthiest hands down. I won’t tire until everyone knows about it, they see it when they see me in person, starting with my family, when I go to the dentist and they take my blood pressure, at work. My husband and I are great ambassadors, and we even eat some of the processed stuff too, but just not eating animal products already does wonders to your health.

  36. I was just listening to Mr plant Chompers with the Mastering Diabetes guys? Was the interview just done or is it something from a while back? Reason I ask is Chris said Dr Bernstein is 87. I think he's 89. Second, Chris said the Dr Bernstein daily limit for carbohydrate in grams is 50 but I believe it's 30.

  37. On reflection, I think I have some questions about the salt study he cites. As you say, it was done in East Asia, where salt intake is routinely very high, with, as I understand it, strong correlation with the kinds of health effects one would expect, especially stroke rates. Reducing intake by half improves those outcomes, OK, but does that mean salt is poison or just that you can have an excess of it? And you're replacing part of the salt with potassium, so how much do the improved health outcomes depend on the net positive of ingesting more of that electrolyte?

  38. Hi Chris. Just wanted to give a thumbs up to your video. I had been dipping my toes into going more plant based for years, but I credit Dr. Greger's How Not To Die with providing the final tools I needed to propel me to the 95% whole foods plant based life I've been living for the past 5 1/2 years. While he sometimes gets a little too in the weeds, even for me as a dietitian and nutrition nerd, and can be a little extreme on some points, the work he has done is invaluable. To think about the number of lives he has improved is staggering. His grandmother would be so proud ❤️.

  39. Chris right? Do u take requests/suggestions for something u might want to spend some time on? I'm going to listen to your visit with the Mastering Diabetes guys as soon as I have the time. I heard the one guy mention Atkins and how the latest low carb/keto etc is just the latest iteration??? Well for starters comparing Dr Bernstein to Dr Atkins is way off. Bernstein doesn't overeat period and is slim. Atkins promoted the idea that as long as you eat very low carb you can eat all the protein and fat u want. Not surprisingly he was said too b a good bit overfat when he died. Being fat is unhealthy regardless of the eating style u follow. But Bernstein doesn't tell people u can eat a pound of bacon everyday for breakfast. I just think it's way off to put those 2 guys (and their followers) in the same category.

  40. I literally been watching this page for years. I love plant chompers. I just found out that this guy took the Covid vaccine. I will never watch a single video from his channel ever again. For somebody who does such great research and looks into things, and at the same time, took that fucking jab I will never respect him again.

  41. I absolutely love your videos!! Thank you sincerely for also citing and including all the scientific references, that's what makes a real scientist. Greetings from Mexico!

  42. Dr. Greger looks like a dying spider.
My left bicep is bigger than his neck.

Everyone in the lineup outside looks washed up and half dead.
Look at how they raise their hands for the high fives.
You'll see more explosiveness in a nursing home.

Time to come clean Plant Chomper:
How many supplements must you take to stay alive?

    Omnivores rule the world.
Veganism is an anti-human death cult.

  43. Would you do an episode on diet confusion surrounding hypothyroidism? I'm 58 and was just diagnosed with a mild case. The diet info I've found has been confusing. Plus, I accidentally stumbled into the snake oil sites promising a cure. Is there any solid dietary science out there about this?

  44. Doctor Gregor is knowingly spreading misinformation about caffeine and sleep. Telling people that caffiene is GOOD for you and sleep is BAD for you. It’s absolutely insane.

In the coffee studies he’s relying on they eliminated 1) ALL deaths under 55, and 2) ALL people who’ve had heart attacks and strokes.

So if you already died at 55 because of coffee consumption or if you already had a stroke or heart attack because of coffee consumption, you were EXCLUDED from the data.

Absolutely disturbing that he would encourage people to take drugs every single day — and on top of that, tell them that it’s HEALTHY. Jesus Christ.

I commenti sono chiusi.
