Do beans and lentils cause leaky gut? Should we avoid beans and lentils to improve our gut health? Let’s find out…..

  1. Many thanks for addressing this! I love legumes, but in recent times have found I am experiencing systemic inflammation for some days after eating them. I guess I am one of those who has to look for other fibre sources, sadly. Cruciferous veg it is.

  2. I personally react to lectins. If I have any type of lectin I get a very sore bum and hot poo with a lot of swelling around that area. That's why I eat millet, it doesn't cause any irritation and has no lectins. Even tomatoes and potatoes cause this problem which is extremely annoying because I love those foods. When I don't eat lectins for a few days, I don't get hiccups (which I literally had for decades). Lectins can be a real problem but I don't think people notice it because they become so accustomed to their effects that it's not so bad but if they stopped them for a while, saw the benefits and then had them again, they will probably see what damage they can do.

  3. I think from watching and what I have read there is a genuine controversy here. Some of these choices may contribute to one cause of a leaky gut syndrome, while alleviate another. There is clearly no One cause and One fix. Do I have that right?

  4. Most people can train their gut to digest legumes more easily by starting with small helpings and slowly increasing the size until they can digest the recommended three daily servings.

  5. Maybe it was just me… but I didn't find this particular video very clear. So, do legumes increase the likelihood of leaky gut, or do they heal and prevent leaky gut???

  6. Facts given for Cons (proteins) then Pros (fiber) for beans and lentils. Most food have pros and cons, so what is the verdict? does the Pros outweigh the cons to not worry about the protein cons?

  7. Peanuts, soy beans, and peas would be included…none of these are a problem for me.. I figure most are considering protein, not per se fiber so this was not well rounded presentation and more so vague imo.

  8. I have found that having a pickle andor sauerkraut before or with my meal, GREATLY enhances my digestive smoothness even with the most challenging" bean centric meal

  9. corn is in everything!!!!!
It is the BT TOXIN put into corn which destroys and kills insects stomachs, which also rips tiny holes in our stomachs.
But you guys still trust the government and especially the pharmacuetical industry. It is disgusting your ignorance and we deserve our sickness.
Someone is profitting from the world getting sicker and sicker …….we just have to find out who it is.

  10. Thank you. This is excellent information and a theme that I am faced with regularly when teaching my wfpb nutrition classes. Not eating legumes because it makes you uncomfortable (compromised gut), is like not stopping to take drugs, because you feel withdrawal symptoms.

  11. How the hell can people call themselves doctors when they give out WRONG AVDICE??????? They should be banned from practising medicine!!! And if they aren't real doctors in the first place, they should be called out and shamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. It's tough to weed out information online. Especially when it comes from YouTubers and/or Organizations on YouTube. When it comes to your channel and what the kids call, "Bringing receipts," You guys always deliver. As always, many Thanks!!!

  13. Ummmmmm….am I the only one who found this video confusing? But thank you Andrea baiocchi for your comment. I've actually been making my very own homemade protein shake made with cooked beans

  14. Be careful, too many beens can reduce the absorption of iron, zinc, magnesium, and calcium. If they are canned, they will contain BPA or other petroleum products.
also, the protein in beens are not well absorbed by humans.

    Let's eat like our ancestors!

  15. Beans means farts. Children in Britain have dies after eating raw kidney beans. Please do your research. I used to follow Michael Greger, but now realize he is a one eyed vegan.

  17. Don't listen to these "shadow agents" like greger, mercola, berg ect… who are funded by the same system of 66% truth 33% lie to throw you off the path. All cooked food is bad for the gut, only raw food and "living" food is gut-healing/supportive/regenerative. God/Nature designed the perfect food for Man: Fruit. The further we go from fruit, the further from the truth we are. They flood you with so much information and false knowledge that you put too much energy in "health" so you never truly become "healthy" and caught up with psychological tension that the nervous system is not at ease thus dis-ease. Nature is simple, don't cook, complicate or process it, life becomes divine and effortless.

  18. Leaky gut syndrome is a hypothetical, medically unrecognized condition.. perpetuated by quacks in the alternative medicine nonsense field.

  19. Thumbs up! This presentation is an excellent way to counteract and expose all the misinformation out there regarding plant based nutrition & health. Keep going!! 💪

  20. If beans and lentils caused leaky gut, my gut would be gone. Leaked into eternity. Never to be seen again. Then again, I've been dead from protein deficiency since 1982, so who I am to talk.

  21. Fiber, surely the most unsung hero of macronutrients! And beans have plenty of it. Cook'em well to moderate their anti-nutrient content, and live well on the great nutrient value they provide…protein, fats, minerals, and fiber.

Or, shall we all fall in line with the WEF's planning and start eating insects? Of course, there's surely a lot more money for the investor class in the insect business, or they'd surely be promoting beans, wouldn't they?.

  22. Yeah, and I’m sure the solution is eat beef jerky more often, can’t imagine the gut having a problem breaking that down, lol! The solution might just be to cook the beans properly. I’ve been a vegan my whole 77 yrs on this planet and do not have leaky gut. Many yrs ago I had what appeared to be a ulcer and healed it with Brewers Yeast which is loaded with digestive enzymes, as a result my stomach was always the healthiest organ in my body, go figure!

  23. To reduce the lectin content in beans I do soak them 24 hours, rinse well and cook for 70 min in an electric pressure cooker.
Btw lectins in low concentrations can prevent some diseases like cancer (info from scientific journals).

  24. If any thing make small sustainable changes rather than a sudden change. Sudden switches to plant based are likely to feel uncomfortable and reverting back to old habits quickly. Oscillating between diets is probably not a good idea.
I find people resistant to the idea, so in form them about processed meats and ultra processed foods, and the role of simple and free sugars. Comparisons of 200g of eg walnuts or to a pack of processed meats I find are helpful comparisons.

  25. Thanks for all your great advice. I really enjoy watching your videos, they provide a lot of knowledge and are very helpful on a daily basis in choosing food when shopping, etc. Thank you ❤✨

  26. What this video is not telling us is that soaked beans 24 -48 hours, which are then pressure cooked will have the majority of lectins, phytic acid, olygosacharides, etc destroyed or removed. Making them safe and healthy to eat. I am not sure if this also applies to grains.
