  1. I’m disappointed that Saladmaster wasn’t brought up….but perhaps not in the studies? They add titanium and molybdenum to their stainless steel, which makes it non porous, so you don’t need to add any oil. I have a set, have sold a couple of sets – so full disclosure here – and it is true. I never use oil in my cooking. The company says, and I think they believe, that it is one of the the healthiest cookware brands made. They say healthier than regular stainless steel without titanium. I follow Dr Greger and truly would like to know if he’s seen any studies on the brand or the one or two others that are made in a similar manner. There is a ‘baking soda’ test, boil 1 tbspn baking soda with 1 cup of water for 10 minutes in your favorite pan. I have never tasted water from any pan, other than Saladmaster, that didn’t taste metallic or plasticity when doing this. Would be great to understand more about why this happens with this ‘test’.

  2. So can someone tell what other flosses are safe to use and don’t contain these chemicals? I don’t think he mentioned that. I use oral b floss picks, I’m guessing they would contain these chemicals if the floss does too right?

  3. You say it's OK to you stainless steel but it has nickel in it. Nickel is toxic to the human body. 18/10 stainless steel the number 10 means how much nickel is in it. The more nickel the less it Rust but the higher the toxins. I switched to all glass and use a ceramic skillet.

  4. How about Silicone,Glazed pottery, wax paper parchment paper, Cook in a lot of salt like to cook popcorn & Plastic mixer? please answer me.

  5. What do you make of Greenpan cookware that is made nonstick with silica and diamonds? I just ordered some because my partner likes to have a non-stick pan and the ceramic one we had has kind of gone sticky

  6. My steaks are only on the cast iron skillet for a couple of minutes on each side. the eggs only take about one minute total. One should NEVER cook in seed oils, saturated fats only.

  7. Hey Doc. It seems titanium although not cheap, seems to get favorable ratings for health. Please share information or opinion on titanium.

  8. I have an old fashion stone bean pot and I wouldn’t give it up. Nothing to worry about there. Plus I feel like a witch when I cook with it.

  9. Teflon is incredibly toxic, but "hey, lets stick it all over cooking utensils!" Brilliant.
I'm speechless that most people don't know how toxic it is, ignorantly poisoning themselves and their family.
That new "stoneware coating" crap they are flogging is just as bad if not worse.

  10. Once upon a time the earth was free of these toxic chemicals except, of course, for arsenic etc. in the soil. However, we live longer now despite all the toxic chemicals. Certainly, it would be better if criminal companies (and their CEOs), like Dupont, were held accountable for their actions. Then, perhaps, we would have fewer of these dangerous chemicals endangering us all. What can we do? Eat only food we grow ourselves in soil analyzed for the presenc of toxic chemicals? There's nowhere to hide; lead is everywhere thanks to it being added to fuel for many years. Thank God for modern medicine! Thanks to that, I've already survived a bout with cancer – probably caused by toxins in my diet.

  11. I thank you for making this video, I have been going on about PFAS non stick 'forever chemicals' for the most part of this year and its so nice to hear you confirm my fears. You are a clever man 🙂
Oh and PFAS is in the water
Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) sampling guidelines

California state water quality control board, March 20 2019 –

Any field planning and mobilization effort should address the physical, chemical, and biological hazards

associated with each PFAS site. The mitigation of potential risks should be documented in a site-specific

health and safety plan (HASP). The HASP should identify personal protective equipment (PPE) that is free

of PFAS materials to avoid cross-contamination.

PFAS are used to coat various clothing and leather products to repel water, oil, and dirt. While

preparing for sampling, attention should be paid on clothing that is advertised as having waterproof,

water-repellant, or dirt and/or stain resistant characteristics. These types of clothing are most likely to

have had PFAS used in their manufacturing

  12. His face and mannerisms are very similar to Cat Behaviourist Jackson Galaxy… Almost thought he was doing a parody but with a different topic. Saving the video for future reference. A good one.

  13. PFAS the 'forever chemical' in teflon for instance, is so incredibly toxic that it is in the water and most of the population lowering the immune system. Did you know that it is in 3M PPE and fire fighting foam used all over the world washing into the waterways. Here is a paragraph describing the risk os cross contamination of PPE to PFAS testing in California by the water company.

  14. When i was growing up we had a pot that was 3 or 4 quarts that my mom made mashed potatoes in. After boiling the potatoes she put them back in it and used an electric mixer to whip them. In the pot. That at one time was Teflon coated. All those years i thought she put black pepper in the potatoes but it was actually flecks of Teflon that we were eating!

  15. Back in '73 when I was working on a drilling rig as a safety officer (drilling into radioactive strata), I provided first aid to a 30 year-old welder who collapsed while using a torch to free a stuck threaded pipe joint. Upon investigation, after he told me that he had no health problems that he knew of, I found that the rig had recently switched to a great new pretty green lubricant for the drill pipe threads — Teflon or Teflon-like particles suspended in a grease-like matrix. My previous job as an Industrial Hygiene technician had taught me that heating Teflon at high temperatures caused severe out-gassing of some really nasty toxic gasses, including phosgene (known at the time as 2-stepper gas [you get 2 steps before you die]). This was in the early days when men basically shook off such occurrences if there was no obvious damage and after an hour he just went back to work. I had advised him that if he had any problems in the future he should remember that I had detailed this event in the logbook, which was a legal document and would be archived. Of course I have no idea what happened to him, but this video reminded me of the event. In my childhood carbon tetrachloride was touted as the best bathroom cleaner going. It had one major drawback — it killed people. Took out your liver, a little bit at a time. After it killed a rather large number of housewives who spent nearly every day face down in the fumes while cleaning tubs, it was quietly retired from the household cleaning market. Oddly, if you heat this product at high temperatures, it too produces phosgene gas. Chemistry is only as good as the conditions it is used in. Very few chemical substances are stable from very low to very high temperatures and are often affected by the introduction of other chemicals, such as mixing bleach with ammonia (or urine).

  16. What makes me laugh the most is it's the rubbish people cook with that makes them sick not the cookware. Example , anyone using veggie oils like Canola or peanut or Grape seed oils are 100% nuts. Veggie oils are 100% toxic. Also never burn your food. Food is life, burnt food is not

  17. I’m shocked at how few people I’ve talked to know the history of DuPont, and PFOA. It’s now a changed Teflon formula, PTFE. Doesn’t mean that I trust them whatsoever.

  18. The content is great but why the hell does he talk like that? Does he have some sort of speech impairment disease? I don't wanna start straight bashing his style without asking that first.

  19. I've known since the 70s about how deadly teflon is to birds. The information was passed along through obscure bird-keeping magazines. I've lived without it ever since, sometimes I use ceramic nonstick.

  20. Dr Greger mentions that we shouldn't fry in cast iron. Does stir-frying veggies with a bit of oil also cause transfats to form? Anyone know? Thanks!

  21. Vegans should be very interested in iron pans. It's been recommend for countries that have low iron, using cast iron has been a huge success. As for oxidizing fat, would love to see reasurch on that. I wonder how is the iron contacts the air? How can iron be a catalyst if it is not reacting itself. Genuinely would like to know more.

  22. What about those who are allergic to nickel? I have breakfast porridge every day and I am getting worse because I have allergies. Most nickel is found in plant foods…

  23. This goofy said iron from pots can be beneficial lol he clearly don’t know that inorganic metal is toxic and build up in our body

  24. PFOA is/was used in manufacturing of PTFE. Health concerns regards environmental pollution of PFOA, not ingestion/inhalation from non-stick pans.

  25. Wow I really need to replace my plastic gallon food containers. Probably should get only glass bottles for anything acidic too

  26. Спасибо большое, очень полезная информация! Посмотрела фильм Dark Waters, очень грустно, что крупные компании часто так поступают. Но очень здорово, что эту тему осветили через фильм.

  27. Seriously this whole incidental consumption of heavy metals is WRONG. Metal Iron is NOT the same as Iron from a plant or nut based food or some stressed Animal that's slaughtered for your consumption. Good Luck. Do your own research because these corporations lie about everything to sell their crap. And the Cancer Society still can't pull their head out of their rear to figure the massive increase rate of Cancer.

  28. Extra iron from cast iron might not be a good thing. Too much iron may contribute to aging, so says David Sinclair and I guess others.

I'm also interested in carbon steel. Does it leach iron too?

  29. Whatever! If you understand acid and base reactions than one knows that the leaching of nickel in SS never goes away until the substance is fully dissolved, and many foods we place in cookware are highly acidic. Just nuts that we cook food in Aluminum and Stainless Steel (Nickel) and then we all wonder why have so many health issues. LOL #WE-ARE-ALL-IDOTS

  30. man, this channel is incredible and very easy to digest the content. Sure the delivery is kinda weird but you get past it after watching a few more videos. I'll definitely be sharing this with friends and family!

  31. thats so crazy because i got popcorn last night and got a bag of organic kernals instead of a bag of microwave poison apparently
