  1. I used 20% Picardin in Africa along with insect shield embedded clothes for malaria carrying mosquitos. It worked very well. Unfortunately lemon eucalyptus did nothing.

  2. "Great video on natural mosquito repellent! Now with Fantaclaus, you can easily interact with your viewers and find out their own tips. Download it now!"

  3. all these things we create, we must stop and think at what cost?
do we waste food producing these products, add pollution, harm workers, waste time making real changes instead of treating symptoms.
blame it on nature and fight it, sound like a military mindset.

  4. Up here in Alaska DEET is the gold standard. With swarms of aggressive mosquitoes, Picardin does not work very well with Alaskan mosquitoes. Thermocells do help and are second best to DEET. Another good alternative is a mesh based headnet and clothing and gloves.

  5. So….I'm often left befuddled by these vids……which is more effective…Picardin or Lemon Eucalyptus or both or both and DEET? I get the sense that the natural repellents don't have side effects of DEET, but which is superior Picardin or Lemon Eucalyptus….or are they considered even and pick your preference on how you want to smell???

  6. That DEET odor is nasty! You know it's bad when it smells hazardous to your health.

I use the natural lemon eucalyptus mosquito repellent from the REPEL brand. It's the ONLY natural plant-based DEET-free mosquito repellent that works for me. The other natural plant-based products never worked for me.

  7. Also heard catnip as a good mosquito repellent too but it wasn’t tested with the other mint family plants 🤷🏾‍♀️

  8. This is a perfect example of the tradeoffs involved when people try so hard to avoid harmful chemicals etc. The same thing applies to the diet and health subject and that's why most people still say that the vegan diet is not for them. You take the good with the bad as they say in this life. When you try so hard to avoid everything that you believe is harmful you might end up with the opposite problem meaning you are not taking in enough of the good things your body needs.

  9. Dunno about mosquitos, but for midges, regular consumption of Marmite yeast extract seems to totally stop the critters biting. No idea if smearing it all over your body works as well as eating it!!

  10. Wait the srudy at 2:15 found 5 slightly effective essential oils, and at 3:18 it says there are no effective essential oils… what amvI missing? I' sure its something just can't figure it out

  11. Lemon eucalyptus smells nice but does not stop mosquitoes in Australia….doesn’t even slow them down. DEET is the thing that seems to work here.

  12. I prefer lemon-eucalyptus because my pet parrots are likely to ingest whatever is on my skin. Their beaks are to them what hands are to us, and they are highly interactive with me and my ( human) family.

  13. Can anybody give a iherb link for the lemon eucalyptus thing? Is it just the essential oil? There's no mention of mosquitos or 40 percent

  14. I checked the source 'Insect repellents: historical perspectives and new developments' for this lemon eucalyptus at 40%, and I found the citation given on that 'effective at 40%' gave no information – it was about garlic and ticks!

Also this 'effective at 40%' claim misses the fact that Repel only offers their product with 30% (actually Citriodiol), which technically only carries approx. 20% of the actual essential oil. Now, of course, this becomes moot if the product was actually shown to work, but as stated above…. the source is about garlic and ticks in the army.

So I am left with little convincing evidence that lemon eucalyptus does much at all?

  15. I've never heard of Picaridin before, DEET is obviously better than using nothing at repelling mosquitos however I'll look into Picaridin from now on as it appears to have less downsides.
