  1. So why even try the daily dozen? It is 70% glucose and fructose based. Even starch will become glucose in the mouth. The egyptians ate grains and they lost the health of their teeth.

  2. My kids are not gonna taste a single bite of sugar added foods. Saves them a lot of pain and keeps their brains from being programmed for obesity and sugar addiction.

  3. I used to get cavities while eating fruits and energy bars during bike rides. I stopped eating fruits and all sugars and no more cavities. Well, I still eat some fruits: olives, avocados and fresh coconut. Coconut oil has antibacterial properties. Fats are your friend, simple carbs are your enemy. Carnivores don't get cavities.

  4. I remember a docu in wich they showed people from a Island that are living like humans did thousands of years ago. Cut of from western culture etc etc, you know wich one i mean.
So they just ate from what the land gives, fruits, plants, animals. And holy crap, their white perfect teeth where al so bright.

  5. I respect this doctor so much
. Fact facts facts. Dentist will bring hate. Sugar is.the main source of growth energy for bacteria grown in the lab. So is you over consume sugar you give them bacteria what they did it's so common sense it hurts my brain why people never consider this .

I had never had a cavity ever . Due to not consuming sugar .This doctor is about to make dentist lose their job.

  6. Fluoride is poisonous and not good for health. These medical industry has become about making money and far few doctors actually are real scientist and go by the data most are glorified yes men.

  7. My husband has a Mountain Dew habit and bad teeth. I never drink pop and have awesome teeth that never have cavities. I don’t bring home pop for the kids. They have good teeth like I do. My best friend, her husband, and her kids all drink pop and their teeth are rotting out of their heads. Anyone that doesn’t believe all that sugar will rot your teeth are just plain crazy. I am surrounded by proof that pop drinkers have bad teeth, while water drinkers have healthy teeth.

  8. Starches does similiar things if remains stuck in your teeth, gluten in particular as its very sticky, Remember that amylase in our saliva already breaks starch into glucose.

  9. I have good teeth. Never go to the dentist. Never eat any dessert. On the odd and very rare occasion when I do eat a bit of store bought chocolate candy, my teeth immediately start to hurt.

  10. At this point I feel you could start a rly good buiseness opening shops that only allow to sell stuff with 0 added sugars, and other processed stuff like bread(white bread) and other stuff

  11. Stay hydrated because saliva is very important also a mineral rich diet (wheatgrass greens etc) and fluoride toothpaste, a dry mouth, acidic foods and the sugar eating bacteria is all bad.

  12. As someone who healed their teeth after a heroin addiction, don’t listen to anything this golem says. Nose to tail carnivore is the only way to heal your mouth.

  13. I was a fruitarian for over six months eating only fruits and nuts. I didn't get any plaque on my teeth and was worried that brushing would damage my enamel, so I stopped brushing my teeth for six months. Despite eating candy and Taco Bell on rare occasions, I only got one cavity from 6 months of not brushing and my teeth were pretty white too.

Now I brush twice a day.

The period of my life I got the most cavities was 5-13 years old. Candy was being marketed to me like crazy and I'd eat pounds of the stuff on Halloween. I got about 7 cavities as a kid.

  14. A clarification would need to be made: are we talking white sugar, cane sugar, coconut sugar, raw honey? It's mainly white sugar it seems but what about daily intake of honey with your tea?

  15. In Medieval times medicine was messed up. Doctors killed more people than cured them. Today diet is messed up: sugar/ alcohol/ processed foods are killing people.

  16. I eat zero sugar refined or otherwise and don't even get plaque. My gums don't bleed at all when I floss. My breath is always pleasant. All these benefits occurred only when I cut out all sugar and anything that is digested and absorbed as sugar. I don't even have body odor anymore. I'm not kidding.

  17. Fluoride is not a treatment for tooth decay anyway. It’s a toxic poison. Better to reduce sugar and drink unfluoridated water, and use unfluoridated toothpaste, if you don’t want dental fluorosis and premature morbidity. “Fluoride causes more human cancer death and causes it faster than any other chemical.”
Dr Dean Burk Phd National Cancer Institute.

  18. I dont understand cause i am not a sugar person and yet i have lost most of my teeth as did my parents and my kids struggling to keep theirs?

  19. It also means that parents need to teach their children how to clean their teeth (every nook and corner), at least twice a day, and also teach them not to swallow the toothpaste.  After that they need to be monitored when cleaning their teeth, because it takes a long time for it to become a natural thing for children.

  20. I don't understand why fruit would be ok, but sugar is bad. When I eat a banana my teeth have to be covered in sugar, regardless of the fiber.

  21. Love your videos! Question: What software applications is used to capture screen shots, highlight text, etc?

  22. This is a great video/series. Could you please do one on "silver diamine fluoride", it sounds almost too good to be true. And if it's so great why hasn't it been on the front page of every newspaper?

  23. How is sugar defined in these studies? Does it include raw honey, raw agave nectar, pure maple syrup? Surely it’s not just processed sugar and corn syrup.

  24. I'm a dental hygienist and so yes I do agree with dropping added sugars but Dr. Greger, recommends to switch sugar with dates because it's a whole food. While dates are super healthy, they are INCREDIBLY sticky which is the worse thing for your teeth and will cause cavities. So just a word of caution with consuming dates if you want to save your teeth

  25. question: is the cavity effect of sugar only through sugar contacting the teeth? or, does it include after the sugar is digested and affecting the body systemically?

  26. bro i love this guy. He fuckin saved my life. He isn't lying please listen to him and try vegan for a few weeks according to his daily dozen app. You will feel like you are high 24 x 7 on coffee. Coming from a heavy coffee addict who used to consume 3 extra large triple triple every day.

  27. I just watched the other video on best sugars and I'm already using molasses in my tea, but at 15 gms of sugar per tablespoon is that too much? Or does adding Date Sugar and Molasses not promote cavities? In order to get close to 1% of caloric intake I'd need to limit molasses to under 1 teaspoon daily, but what about the raisins or dates I add to my oatmeal? will they promote cavites too?

  28. How to stop tooth 🦷 decay? Just brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day, and there will be no problem, but most people are lazy, so they don’t do it properly 🤔.
I have always eaten a lot of sugar and candy, but I always brush and floss afterwards, and I have no cavities or tooth decay at all, so I don’t believe in the “sugar causes cavities” theory 🙄.
It it very interesting to watch people brushing their teeth, because it’s easy to see when they are doing it properly, or they just want to do it quickly and are lazy, like most people 🤔.
This is like the “Elephant in the room” that no one is talking about, because if you accuse someone of lazy toothbrushing, then they get angry😉
I am really disappointed by this one Dr. Greger, you should know better when it comes to the “sugar question” and not sound like Dr. Robert “Lustig”

  29. Tooth decay is one of my biggest fears. I had it as a teenager and its so painful and scary. I try to completely avoid all added sugars and even avoid eating dried fruit because its so sticky and sugary. But yea, my teeth seem to be doing good now

  30. I'm an athlete, If I don't add some brown sugar to my shakes and homemade snack bars, I feel like I'm gonna die and not be able to refill all the energy I waste. It's been 4 years since I last went to dentist and my teeth are still looking amazing. I'm hoping that 2/3 tbs of brown sugar a day is O.K to athletes…

  31. what about supersweet natural foods like honey or dried fruit like dates, raisins and figs? thank you so much for your life changing advice!

  32. Yup. Capitalism would rather sell you the sugar, and then the “non durable good”fluoride toothpaste for the rest of your life.

  33. I haven’t eaten sugar in over a decade and still dealing with several 5-6 cavities. I do oral hygiene regularly. Only fruit on occasion. After 40yrs as a vegan I’m considering eating animals🤷‍♀️

  34. mmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm dr gregor mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm UR TERRIBLE AT GIVING HEALTH ADVICE MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM plaunt based diet is a suicide diet hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm kills billions of animals mmmmmmmm

  35. I unfortunately did not have the realizations about health that I have now back in my teens and consumed a lot of refined sugar and so I have some cavities. Since I switched to pretty much only whole foods and literally near zero refined sugar I have no further cavity progression at all.

  36. A dentist once told me that acid (coffee, citrus fruit, etc) was a major cause of cavities. Do you have anything on that? I feel as though she may have been misinformed.

  37. This is really important information, thank you!! Added sugar is bad for us, period! Unfortunately I think most of us are addicted and our environment isn’t conducive to quitting these food addictions and escaping the pleasure trap and the people around us don’t help at all either!

  38. I eat a whole foods plant based diet and still have decay on my teeth. The only thing that isn’t while food plant based are the sauces that i use…maybe get rid of that?

  39. Reducing free sugar to less than 5 percent of calories seems perfectly reasonable and practical. Combined with flouride toothpaste, that should lead to dramatic reductions in cavities. But for many people, that isn't good enough. Young children with newly erupted secondary dentintion are uniquely vulnerable to cavities, because the enamel of secondary dentition ("adult" teeth) is not yet fully mineralized.

  40. Through honing cooking skills and habits, finally have gone zero sugar. My dentist said my gums are improving so much that he was surprised and asked me what I was doing differently. THANK YOU DOC
