  1. Thank you very much of your videos. It gives ideas to everyone who watch it. Not just only here in the philippines but also to the whole world. More power and more videos to upload. Thank you very much sir.

  2. Hello Dr. Greger. Can you do a video on full carnivore, only animal foods diet? Several highly regarded doctors are promoting it as the ideal diet, including Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Paul Saladino, and Dr. Ken Berry. Also, many on full carnivore are reporting significantly improved digestion, fat loss, better skin, curing autoimmune disease. Was wondering if you put full carnivore to the test and could make a video on it.

  3. BOGUS STUDY! Where is the healthy animal products category? Vegan foods can be "whole" and "clean" or can be crap, as this video points out, but so can animal products so where is the "whole, organic, free range pasture raised" vs "processed deli meat, spam, canned, etc" animal categories?

  4. MISLEADING VIDEO! Studies are showing a whole foods plant based diet helps those with preexisting conditions (cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes), why isn't a whole foods primarily plant based with some animal products diet considered in the studies? Yeah, because it would invalidate the misleading narrative of this video.

  5. This is such a perfect video Dr.Greger! People really need to know about this. Thanks for the video. Your videos always inspire me to keep posting on my channel!

  6. Thank you for this! I try to tell my patients and clients about this every day! Really interesting approach on asking for sweeping changes. However when it comes to vegan food this is spot on! This is simply ridiculous, and with the rise of companies like Beyond Meat, I fear this will only become more confusing to the public.

  7. Blue Zone Diet allows 4-5 small serving of animal protein a month so I’ll have fish once a week or maybe a pork chop. But honestly, I don’t miss it and the last 2-weeks I went complete healthy-vegan without issue.
It is interesting that I feel so full as a vegan.

  8. NO. That is why many vegans still die from heart disease. In Europe when traveling it is often difficult to find a decent quick snack that is vegan because all that is available in many places is falafel or french fries…

  9. 1:49 "helps feel better emotionally" Am I the only one not surprised? I mean, I have NEVER heard about or seen having been studied but there is the fact that animals are stressed to the max just before they are getting killed. Their flesh must be full of stress hormones. Oestrogen is still in the milk after pasteurisation so I expect the stress hormons to be still in the meat after cooking. And so people eat these stress hormons several times a day….
Once again, because I never saw the point above confirmed anywhere from any study, I want to stress that the above is my own opnion.

  10. I feel like this video spikes up the huge debate in which we decide not to eat animals for our health or for the sake of saving and protecting the animals because we LOVE them more than ourselves that's why we'd choose vegan junk food without thinking our own health consequences. In my case, I got a sister that whenever I say the word VEGAN she feels immediately JUDGED and starts fighting and trying to point out my mistakes and errors that don't have anything to do with eating animals or not. So, whenever I say plant-based she won't get triggered so I think this is something mixed up with moral vs being smart enough to save animals and keep yourself healthy to keep doing so in the long run.

  11. So unhealthy processed plants food are not so bad after all.
Some fake meat made out of whole plants or gluten etc might even be quite healthy (lacking anti-oxidant and fiber but still some phytonutrient and less saturated fats, heme iron etc).
Best is to be vegan. Second is to improve your diet (wfpb) but that is a personal stakeless thing to do in the grand scheme of things…

  12. Sadly I did not like this one. Let me try and organize what was said here because it came out like a wet dump. At first, it seemed like this video was saying even flexitarianism does a lot to keep you healthy. But then it pivoted 'but if you are already sick.' (Note: almost everyone is, latest CDC # that dropped like a stone thanks to corona is 42% obese.) Then you sick people should NOT do flexitarian because some guy said he thought you'd be more likely to make changes if your doctor asked you to go all in, Texas hold 'em style. Oh ok. So the flexitarians can just go to hell. Dr. Greger saying ' a doctor talking to an alcoholic would never ask them to cut down on alcohol,' is a ridiculous comparison. In essence the conclusion of this video is that human beings cannot keep anything in balance by themselves. This is why I HATE this one. We did not get to 42% obesity because people can't manage their affairs. We got there because a bunch of scum who make mountains of money have made huge caloric loads as ubiquitous as muzak. (I have a BMI of 21, btw, so I am not making excuses.)

  13. Yeah, you seem to be dumping on vegans because of their choices for being vegan. That’s a little much, don’t you think?! It leads me to think that perhaps you don’t know many vegans personally? It also begs the question “did you publish this for more publicity?” As I am sure a huge number of people who followers you are vegan. I know many, many vegans (including myself) who chose it for sustainability, the animals, health, (a plethora of benefits for self AND others). Like any lifestyle change, you should ALWAYS do your research, to make an informed decision. Understand where you are getting your macros and micros from. Know what your body absorbs particular nutrients in conjunction with, and what inhibits absorption. Sure, sometimes I eat vegan junk food, but that is not because I chose veganism for sustainability & not for my health. I have NEVER eaten junk food the way you have accused vegans of doing in this video. You are basically saying that the only way to be healthy is to choose plant based eating, and keep your head buried in the sand when it comes to the completely unnecessary and unethical treatment of animals, and the effects on sustainability that the farming of the animals is having on our ecosystems on this earth. This video seems heavily influenced by personal opinion. So, it is my opinion that this is a ridiculous personal opinion, made out to look like it’s backed by science. Wow! Don’t teach ignorance. Knowledge is power. Empower yourself!

  14. Go Vegan !
Whole foods plant based eating with regular exercise.
Dump the meat, dairy, cheese, eggs, fish and processed foods.
It is healthier for you, better for the animals and better for the planet.

  15. Oh Dr. Greger, now you've made me feel a little guilty about my once a week or so treat of french fries. I hope air frying them at least puts them midway between 'healthy' and 'less healthy' plant foods.

  16. I've had to abruptly cut out all added sugar in response to a recent blood test that showed my glucose was close to the danger range—it was just one point below diabetic. (At the moment I'm snacking on a square of unsweetened chocolate and some air-popped popcorn.) I made this change less than two weeks ago, so I'll have to wait until probably September for the results of my next blood test.

Fortunately, this change is easy to maintain; I've often heard that if you don't eat sugar, you don't crave it. Now that I've put it to the test, I know it's true!

  17. 10 years ago I tried a Flexitarian and raw vegetable diet high in superfoods. The only meat I would eat was almost only fish. My cholesterol was 110 but I would get sick every 4 or 5 months. Around the Swinflu era I caught that too. Now I eat high fat diet with foods rich in antioxidants. I feel substantially better off the flexitarian diet.

  18. I found it easier to go cold turkey (ha ha) when switching from meat and dairy to vegan. First week only potatoes. Every week after I would add a new vegetable as a reward. Now I'm eating all whole food plant based foods and almond milk. It was so easy to go vegan.

  19. Excellent reminder putting things in perspective. One observation based on young Youtubers who in early 2019 quit veganism after living out their lives on camera like reality shows; it's been convincingly suggested that if there is something radically wrong with your microbiome to begin with eating nothing but bananas etc. is not going to work for long anymore than radical ketogenic approaches. So yes, check with reliable health care professional. Tx again Dr. Greger.

  20. He derped the video at the end where it says less healthy plant foods meaning less unhealthy plant foods. As the article states no wonder he looks at the camera as if he’s testing us or something…

  21. How oh how can I get Dr Greger to pretty please do a balanced diet for PCOS and Insulin Resistance. My dr says I should not eat lentils or legumes or any kinds of wheat including ancient grains or wholemeal or multigrain. I refuse to eat meat so what am i supposed to do 🙁

  22. Hi Dr Greger. My brother recently got shingles from the shingles vaccine (never had any of the childhood illness that would put him at risk for shingles) could you do a video just on shingles and how to fight it with diet? I would greatly appreciate it.

  23. Actually a little surprised by this… I thought perhaps the processed vegan foods would be just as bad as the animal products, but glad to be shown otherwise. Sure they aren't as healthy as unprocessed whole-foods, but I expected that, and at least its a start. Nice to know that junk-based vegans could even find some improvements with type two diabetes. Would be interested to see similar research (animal products VS vegan food VS whole-food plant based) on other widespread diseases.

  24. And I want to spread awareness that “no fat” is a terrible at way go about it too.

When I went “no fat” I started losing my hair hard core, had stress issues (shortness of breath), never felt satisfied by food, couldn’t think clearly…

No fat is no good. And people do blame the vegan diet instead of the lack of healthy whole food fats.

  25. There is a typo in the italian translation, precisely:

Minute 4.48 – "bisogna limitare anche i cibi vegetali salutari."
The correct sencece is: "bisogna limitare anche i cibi vegetali MENO salutari."

Currently you are saying that you have to "avoid healthy food", while it is the opposite: "avoid LESS healthy food".

  26. No which is why "Vegan Diet" should never be used to denote health. Being vegan is about ethics, not health. If you want health then eat a whole food plant based diet. If you want to be a healthy vegan, then you are a vegan that eats a whole food plant based diet. See the difference?

  27. Whole food plant based diet, which I follow as much as possible, is a rich person's diet. To eat this way, you need about $200 A WEEK for food. That is my entire monthly food budget – $200. Once again, the rich have access to health while the poor don't.

  28. If you eat meat and do not want to give up meat, is better to eat vegan meats alternatives: better for health, environment and animals. If you are a vegan who wants to be healthy if once in a while you eat some vegan process food will not kill you. If you don't give a sh*t about your health, be vegan and respect the animals and the environment and still can enjoy of vegan junk food. If you want to be best level healthy do it on a vegan way with whole foods. But anyway be vegan. Watch "Dominion ", "Cowspiracy", "Seaspiracy" and "What the health". And "the best speech you will ever hear of Gary Yourofsky"

  29. in my practice I'm treating more and more diabetics who are vegans but don't eat many vegetables. They are choosing the KFC "beyond chicken" burger with 60 grams of carbs plus fries over lentils and vegetables. Some even have these delusions they are immune to diabetes because they are vegan so they can still drink a 60 oz coke and it's all good.

  30. Based on this study, specifically focusing on diabetes risk, it’s really significant to me that unhealthy plant foods (soda, french fries) were less harmful than eggs, beef, and cheese! By your own traffic light system of determining nutrition quality, cow milk and steak would be “yellow light” foods, whilst crisps and cake would be “red light” food. Yet here, the yellow light foods seem to do more harm than the red light foods.

I’m not advocating for a diet chocked full of sweets, vegan hotdogs, and grape soda, but it seems to me that if it’s between that and a diet full of eggs, pork chops, and cow butter, the former might be healthier. Obviously, the healthiest option would be a diet full of blackberries, black beans, and green tea 😉
