  1. I like the use of the common English word 'trump' without any connection to the recent evil presence in the White House. We should all reclaim the word and never use it to refer to the orange brat again! lol It's annoying when playing euchre or bridge to say 'trumps' without thinking of that narcissistic a-hole.

  2. Interesting, especially when trying to include as many plant species in my diet for microbiome health. Perhaps having single dishes packed with many types of individual plants would be a step in the right direction?

  3. Maybe the solution is to mix everything together into a Buddah Bowl style meal, so you're getting the right ratios, but stop eating when you've had enough.

  4. Choose whole plant foods, no added oils, and you don't every have to worry about weight gain. Eat as much as you want, as much variety as you want.

  5. Sometimes I eat lentils for breakfast everyday for about one month, when I change to chickpeas it’s like eating éxtasis

  6. Got it. Eat the same thing for a while so you get bored of it and eat less. Best eat broccoli all the time so it is at least something healthy you get bored of.

  7. This is why people are clueless to portion and calorie content .Most people overeat before the stomach tells the brain it's had enough. Knowing proper portion and it's calorie equivalent allows eaters to build a perfectly portioned plate so over consumption doesn't occur. Proper nutrition needs to be a mandatory part of school curriculum starting in 1st grade and ending as high school senior. An intelligent eater is a healthy productive person .

  8. Food is more than just fuel. It brings people together and is an evolutionary way of bonding. That’s why you break bread with friends

  9. So then if you have a patient with low appetite, a good way to get them eating might be to serve small portions of a variety of foods?

  10. Ooooh!!! Wow! 💡💡💡 I'm 35, still weigh what I did in high school, and have never had any weight fluctuations, while everyone else around me my age has been complaining for years now about weight gain and their metabolism slowing down. I figured it was just lifestyle differences: I've never owned a car and always walked and bike commuted everywhere (and I'm sure that is part of it). But I'm also super conscientious about my food budget and food waste, because I grew up going hungry sometimes, so to my mind any food I don't eat is literally throwing away money and putting myself in danger when a financial emergency inevitably hits. That means I only buy what I can actually eat (and I've got it dialed down pretty exactly), and I batch cook two meals and alternate between them and oatmeal for lunch and dinner for the whole week. Breakfast is always the same thing, mostly because I'm not a morning person and can't function to do anything more than slap some peanut butter on some toast. I've never had a problem with only eating what I burn – if I have to bike a lot and burn 2000 calories, I eat 2000; if I've been sitting all day and only burned 1500, I'm only hungry for 1500. I've never understood why other people's appetites seemed disconnected from their activity levels. But this totally explains it! They're eating a different food for each meal of the week, and I'm eating four different meals in total, so true hunger and satiation become my primary indicators. 🤯

  11. Another interesting fact about loosing weight, is hydrogen. The science shows that also. I’ve seen many people loose weight, simply because it appears to bring the body back into balance. And sometimes being overweight seems to affect of the proper signaling within the body. If anyone wants more info, simply ask and I could possibly share some links.

  12. You dont need a study to tell me this! Even I realize I eat way more if more variety is available at home!

  13. I have the attention span of a gnat. I'm so grateful, Dr. Greger, that you get to the point in 5 minutes or less. On behalf of all other gnats out there, thank you.

  14. Ok, great video, but please no cartoon Micheal Gregor. Not only was it poorly synced, but for any new viewers I believe it makes the whole channel seem less scientific and more "just for entertainment."

  15. Really interesting video. But I’m still not sure what I think about the cartoon Dr. Greger. I feel like it makes the videos a little less authoritative.

  16. I keep hearing at the end of many of the videos that we’re going to get into that next. And then the video ends. Is there some subscription that I don’t know about that would allow me to hear the rest of the information?
