20 Risposte a “Podcast: Are Plant-Based Meat Substitutes Healthy?”

  1. Dr. Gregor, there is missing information in the WFPB world that needs addressing and unpacking. Plants provide the 8 essential amino acids and our body makes the 12 that constitutes the 20 in a complete protein chain. Animal products supply all 20 amino acids. So, does our body still make its 12, that would bring the number of amino acids to 32 (the 20 from the animal plus the Body’s 12.) for a single protein chain. Then what amino acid from the animal protein chain, creatinine for example, is helpful or hurting the human body. Does the body nullify the extra protein from the egg or cow, eliminate it harmlessly, or something more harmful to the Body. There is a complete absence of information/research on these important facts.

  2. i was so happy when i saw impossible meat come to grocery stores until i picked up a package at the grocery store and saw the sodium content. I thought to myself, this is not a healthy product and only a marketing ploy.

  3. The real elephant in the room is refined sugar and is casually mentioned on this channel..I suspect people will move away in droves from this outdated and ill informed channel in the future. MEAT CONSUMPTION IS A DISTANT 3RD TO SUGAR!

  4. Been eating nothing but meat for the past 5 months. Blood pressure resolved itself, triglycerides have plummeted, stopped snoring, no brain fog, lost 53 lbs., so tell me again why I shouldn't eat real meat?

  5. This discussion is certainly skewed toward vegan/ vegetarian diet without providing any viable evidence that this is safe, or preferable for human nutrition. I for one will stick to an ancestral diet as best I can and will reject this plant based propaganda until such time as you can produce some evidence humans are actually evolved to live on such a limited diet.

  6. Love the level of detail here! Whenever the question is "is X food healthy?". the follow up should be "compared to what?"
Thanks for taking the time to address all the nuances!

  7. Lol, it got hoaky there at the end, but he does support suppliment use.. the components of animal proteins and plant proteins are still the same, their structures and requirements for degradation has systemic effects.. hes just shilling for his supplemental buddies.

Just another non vegan gatekeeper with ulterior motives

  8. Beyond meat and impossible burger are junk products for meat eaters looking to reduce their meat consumption. Established vegetarians get their healthier protein needs elsewhere.

  9. People always talk about how Beyond Burgers not being "healthy" because they're a processed food. Our bodies were designed to consume plants. They weren't designed to consume cow parts.

  10. I'm not as big a fan of Impossible Burger just because it's relatively high in saturated fat, but I do eat a fair amount of mock meats. They provide a way to increase your protein intake without adding as much calories as eating an extra serving of beans would, which can be good if you are doing weight training and body recomposition.

  11. Michael Greger is a clown 🤡
So is anyone who believes in eat a chemical plant product instead of a natural food.

  12. This is my first time watching. I find it very useful. I've been working at being 100% vegan in all areas of my life for some time now.
Does the body derive all the nutritional necessities needed for optimal health in a plant-based diet or does the body benefit more from a meat-based diet?

  13. I disagree – we have not evolved to eat a vegan diet, and we certainly have not gotten to this point in our evolution by supplementing our diet with processed supplements that have been proven to be far less bioavailable than those obtained from animal based sources that humans have relied on for thousands of years before the advent of agriculture. If it works for you that is fine, but I am in the process of reversing 50+ years of eating a “ healthy balanced” diet and the chronic health conditions that it causes.

  14. This is great info, thanks Doc! Any chance you have any info on better sandwich spreads? I'm trying to switch from Earth Balance to something else on my morning sourdough. I use homemade hummus but would like some inspiration, hummus is feeling a bit tired as well.

I commenti sono chiusi.
