  1. can't stomach it at breakfast but I soak some and add it to my lunch bean threads to offset the white carbs (which I cool to create some resistant starch).

  2. Well for those of us who must be gluten free, oatmeal is a NO NO. Even the so called "gluten free" organic oats do not work for us. We prefer to stay away from oatmeal. So of all the GF grains, which would be the closest to oatmeal? Thanks.

  3. I did the two day oatmeal thing and it worked for me. Just my experience but postmeal numbers were less as well as fasting numbers. Plain for breakfast, savory for lunch and dinner, steel-cut.

  4. The Oatmeal Cure: it sure sounds like something from a hundred years ago, and not because it concerns just one seemingly ordinary food. Rather, it's the word 'Cure' that makes it sounds like a false promise from a quack doctor in the 19th century.

Twenty-first century doctors usually don't believe our chronic diseases can be cured. Google 'Type 2 diabetes' and the first page, from the elite Mayo Clinic, straight up says: 'There's no cure for type 2 diabetes. Losing weight, eating well and exercising can help manage the disease.' Why are modern sickcare clinicians so sure our most widely debilitating diseases cannot be cured? Ok, maybe the word 'cure' is strong, but I like the one Dr. Greger has used for years: *reverse*.

I was listening to a panel discussion with Colin Campbell, Dean Ornish, and Dr. Greger in which Greger again used the word 'reverse'. Campbell said 'can we start using the word "treat"'? But Ornish backed up Greger and said no, 'reverse' is not only more appropriate, it's more powerful in the public mind. I agree! To me, the word 'treat' belongs to the lexicon of 21st century sickcare. It sounds like you're managing a chronic disease that cannot be eradicated. It does not inspire confidence.

Sure, a bypass surgery is treatment. But Ornish's lifestyle plan is a reversal.

  5. I had symptoms of prediabetes (peripheral neuropathy in fingers and toes as well as sores) and after I adjusted my diet to WFPB, it went away in a month or two. I'm back to normal and your videos were a big part of that, so thank you Dr. Greger.

  6. I eat oatmeal (warm, cooked for a while) with soy milk, seasonal fruits, freshly ground flaxseeds and a handful of walnuts every single day in the morning and in the evening. It never gets boring, I'm always looking forward to yet another bowl of oats.

  7. When I have rolled oats for breakfast I still feel hungry no matter how much I eat? I usually have a cup of dry rolled oats add water a small amount of maple syrup blueberries walnuts raisins cinnamon and allspice. It's difficult to explain. My stomach actually swells up but I feel shaky and hungry. Is this an insulin resistance thing?

  8. I did this and blew my Dr away. There is zero reason, though, if you're eating oats, for you to not be adding flaxseed. Dr Gregor has long touted the power if that seed. The two together work like a miracle.

  9. I'm no longer diabetic due to the Keto diet BUT after 2 yrs. on Keto, it messed my health up in other areas…so now I'm incorporating a bit more healthy/organic/non-processed complex carbs into my diet and feel better. Go figure 🤷

  10. I like my oats savory… I just blend up some veggies in some broth and use that for the cooking liquid. I use oats in everything, including soup and sauces, it makes a healthy and almost instant thickener, whole as a grain or blended for a silky base.

  11. Holy Smokes!!! Who am I going to believe? Dr. Ken D Berry MD or this guy. Time has proved that what we are eating is wrong. Look at how many people are fat and increased diabetes

  12. i enjoy organic sprouted oats every day with flaxseed and berries as part of my morning start- but i hear bad news about lectins is it that serious a concern

  13. Amazing how one tsp of oatmeal a day for 30 days will fatten a rabbit ready for dinner.

I watched my mother stay obese on her oatmeal, veggies, fresh whole wheat bread and fat free chicken.

She lost over 150lb by eliminating the grains and adding butter to her organic veggies, switching to fatty chicken

    No thank you.

  14. Steel cut oats 365 mornings a year. With soy milk, 5 tbs mixed ground seeds, 1 tbs raisins and 1 tps mixed spices. HBa1C 4.4, ApoB 69, Ldl 74, total cholesterol 144, triglycerides 62, BMI 19.7, blood pressure 95/61, age 50s.
LOVE my very high unrefined carbohydrates and moderate fat plant based dietary pattern of whole grains, lentils, beans, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds. Daily exercise.

  15. Type 1 diabetic for over 41 years. When counting carbs, and dosing with fast-acting insulin, T1s must reduce the carb/insulin ratio or risk going too low in a few hours. Oatmeal is magic! Less insulin required to manage the same amount of carbs. Throw in walnuts and fruit and it is hard to eat a better food.

  16. The smartest thing that should be on everyone's mind right now should be to invest in different streams of income that are not dependent on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC ETH…).

  17. oatmeal eryday eryday (blueberry flax chia let them soak, THEN add banana at end so they dont black )
gg thats bascily 30ish % of my meals everyday lol
then every essential nutriment not in that one in the second spicy meal. gg
hard life get all fat sugar protein, mineral, air water, barometric presure, radioactivity level. sleep.

  18. Ive been saying this exact thing for years now…

Ive been talking about fermented oats since gregor was still grifting people with b12 nonsense and saying fermented foods "werent good" for health.

  19. Dr. Greger is the reason I eat so much oatmeal now. Almond milk, berries, half banana and honey. Sometimes a little brown sugar and nuts. Just depends. Thanks doctor ☺

  20. You can win a lot of money betting people with this question. If you have a steak or oatmeal for breakfast, which will spike your insulin more? Doubt it? Google a glycemic index.

  21. Thankfully I'm not a diabetic. But I could be "insulin resistant." I alternate between shredded wheat and oatmeal. I also need to have the occasional egg to go with the high nutrition availability of it. I also listen to S. Ekberg on videos. But Dr Greger, you have a very important discussion on oatmeal.

  22. Oats grown in wet countries apparently have high rates of pesticide use–so best be careful. NF doesn't allow posts to other evidence (I wonder why), but can be found by googling Zoe and Tim Spector

  23. I love my whole oats, fruit and nut brekky so much that I get grumpy and stressed if for some reason I can't have it. I've started having it for lunch too!

  24. We love you, Dr. Greger! My daily smoothie:

    3.5 cups distilled water
    125g ORGANIC OATS
100g peanut butter (or peanuts) 100% peanuts
    300g FROZEN bananas
    100g blueberries
    75g carrots
    10g whole flax seeds
    30g frozen kale (bagged, pre-washed)
    30g broccoli
    5g nutritional yeast (unfortified)

Use organic when possible and enjoy!
P.S. Sistema makes the PERFECT large 236oz. storage container for freezing bananas.

  25. I like my oatmeal with sugar-free pancake syrup, 15 grams of chocolate whey protein powder, and frozen berries and/or fruit. Sometimes I'll replace the protein powder with a mixture of dark cocoa powder and monk fruit sweetener. Of course, I should note that I normally use water but the dark cocoa version is far more likely to get coconut milk.

One time, I tried to speed up the cooling process by putting the oatmeal in the freezer, got distracted and forget about the oatmeal and didn't remember until about two hours had passed. At that point, the oatmeal was mostly solid but I could still dig into it (it just took a little effort). I suppose I could've thawed the oatmeal but I didn't and discovered that it was pretty good even when very, very cold. In a way, it's a more enjoyable eating experience for me because it's not something that can be eaten quickly, and as the oatmeal thaws it gets sweeter, which I then use a way to change up the flavor by switching from sweet fruit to fruit that's more sour.

  26. Always eat oatmeal, all my life. Warm oatmeal with berries and vegan milk. It's also a cure for people
suffering from upset stomach and indigestion. I also pulverized oats, vegan milk and a banana for a
    smoothy…breakfast on the go.

  27. Wait, that clip about vegans taking bcaa supplements! I’m vegan and take a bcaa supplement! I thought it was good for you? For muscle building and recovery?

  28. I like savory oats. I make oat groats in vegetable broth and throw some in my daily salads along with lentils. I make a big batch once a week and throw it in straight from the refrigerator.

  29. Every morning I have my oatmeal with soy milk, and add strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, bananas, flaxseed, chia seeds and pumpkin seeds.

  30. More BS, Oat meal spikes blood sugar, leading to insulin resistance and inflammation. Does not matter if you fill it with seeds and fruit, it's still a carb that spikes blood sugar and bad for your health. So many people being brainwashed by these idiotic online docs.

  31. Works for me. Oatmeal for breakfast and the Nile dries out. Skip oatmeal for a few weeks and the Nile comes back. Still have to work on my scale that accelerates like a Lamborghini. Down 40 lbs so far.

  32. I followed Dr. Lustigs advice on no carbs at all and my AST and A1c was great on that diet. I started on oatmeal (no sugar kind). My BP is great, but I'm now in a diabetic range.

  33. Interesting that Dr. Berg and the other Keto or Carnivore Gurus insist that you MUST NEVER EAT OATS OR OTHER GRAINS.
I personally feel one needs a balanced diet – including OATMEAL!

  34. Museli no added sugar , banana, mixed nuts , pumpkin seeds , sunflower seeds, flax seeds , blueberry5, soya milk, cinnamon and prunes and figs one healthy breakfast I have this every morning. I just love you Dr Gregor looking forward to the new book coming out .

  35. My dad was recently diagnosed with diabetes. He doesn't want to listen to any diet advice, and like most people he doesn't want anyone to tell him what to do with his diet. I did tell him that I saw a video on here, without telling him he has to do it. My mom said that he has been requesting a lot of oatmeal since I said its supposed to be really good for diabetes.

  36. Really Doctor? I was fully plant based for 4 years, my insulin resistance went in the toilet, my HDL was Low Triglycerides were high and blood glucose high….Now after 4 months on Carnivore Triglycerides 77 Glucose 82 HDL 42 after nothing but Beef butter and eggs…explaine?

  37. Suggest you all remove Soy products, almond milk, dark cocao, spinnage as they all contain high levels of Oxalate which is more damaging than you may think. Ref to Dr Ken Berry MD on impact of Oxalates

  38. I don't know where to begin, but you are the most caring doctor that i have ever known. Thank you Dr Igudia for taking away my Hepatitis B infection pain. God bless you. So much accolades to you sir.

  39. I wonder if Dr Brad Stanfield would agree with this. Just that he has one of those faces where he might be helping the pharmaceutical companies!!! Sorry 😮

  40. Im curious about these glucose monitor videos that keep hyping carnivore diets and eating saturated fat to keep glucose levels steady and low. How does Dr. Greger explain their results?

  41. A good way to further lower oatmeal's GI is is to add an egg to your oatmeal (while you're cooking it). It makes it creamier, lowers the overall GI of the meal, adds some protein, and leaves you feeling satiated. Since it makes the meal "fuller", you will probably end up reducing the amount of oatmeal you eat but still enjoy and reap its benefits.

Personally I used to eat oatmeal almost everyday, started adding an egg into it, and realised I feel much better with just eggs. Now I eat mainly a cyclical keto animal-based diet. 80% meat and eggs. 15% vege, 5% carbs on average per week. My first meal of the day is usually just 6 eggs and coffee with A2 milk. When I have oatmeal, it feels like a cheat meal to me but at least healthier than a bagel or croissant.

  42. Man build some muslce so people that are really healthy get you seriously. Because till now you are just an underweight human talking about health without looking healthy.

  44. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…nutritionists are obsessed with oatmeal. Except it causes an extreme blood sugar crash after the spike. For hypoglycemics, this is a terrible food. For gluten sensitivity…terrible.

  45. One man's nectar is another man's poison. Every advice we get from every "expert" is not meant for everyone. I have been following low carb diet and Intermittent Fasting. Insulin Sensitivity restored, became non-diabetic, weight reduced from 73 kg to 58 kg. Continuing it with out any issues.
