  1. Does the diet include soy milk and avoiding high methionine (an amino acid) foods? My father is in the hormone therapy (Lupron) after a brutal partial prostectomy for benign prostate enlargement. For men taking finastiride (Proscar) keep in mind that your PSA test may not be accurate, it will give you a lower score than what you actually have which can delay your cancer treatment. Our surgeon for whatever reason never asked if my father had been taking it in the past which would likely have changed the course of treatment.

I wonder what are your thoughts on recent large population-based study (Mihrshani S. 2016) done in Australia that found no evidence that following a vegetarian diet has an independent protective effect on all-cause mortality? They didn't include strict vegans but one would still expect at least some positives from largely plant based diet. Anyone heard any comments on that?

  3. But egg consumption rates are really high in Japan. I'm not saying eggs are healthful, but that there's something going on in Japan. I guess the soy or (and?) green tea consumption is protective?

  4. So, now Omega 6 PUFAs increase risk for prostate cancer? I thought omega 3 and omega 6's were essential to a healthy life and many vegan foods contain both.

  5. Incredibly compelling information. I'm just stunned to watch prostate cancer patients eat a disgusting meat heavy diet when they give up. They just don't get it despite all the evidence being up there in lights, as bold and obvious as can be. Thank you Dr. Gregor! You are a LIFESAVER.

  6. Dr Greger! I'm 3 years vegan now and I have had many meat-eaters tell me that it's not meat that gives you disease it's the quality of it. Could this be true? I found this study and it's making me so annoyed because it might be true… I can't see if it's funded by the meat industry or not. I would love if you could look into and see if it is true…

  7. Hey Dr Greger I need your opinion on whether face washing and moisturising from the outside is even necessary if your have a healthy diet. I heard moisturising can make your body lazy to produce moisture itself

  8. If your doubling time for PSA is 11.5 months you have a very slow growing pussy cat. Show meGleason nines with doubling time of three months. Where are larger scale studies??

  9. Horseshit, conflating animal foods and processed foods, then in the summary saying plant-based foods are the answer.

    Any research comparing non-processed animal foods and non-processed vegan?

  10. doctors and hospitals and even government ads in china, korea, thai, cambodia, japan, hk, etc. all recommend whole soy foods to prevent bph and prostate/breast cancers. they have been eating tofu for centuries and their prostate/breast cancers and bph rates are up to 15 times lower. and studies back the power of soy and its isoflavones for this purpose. soy foods are the only proven way to prevent the above problems, and asian history and epidemiology data confirm this.

  11. Dr. Greger, can a patient use iron supplements to fulfill their iron requirements once they stop using meat as a primary source? This question is all the more important in the case of bone marrow infiltration by the cancer and anemia( with the resultant requirement for regular transfusions).

  14. Why don't major cancer research centers like UCLA and MD Anderson tell their patients to at least try this?

    The MD Anderson site talks about the benefits of a plant-based diet, but go on to say that a plant-based diet doesn't mean not eating any meat. WHAT??? Then they say to fill your plate with 2/3 plants and 1/3 lean protein like chicken or fish. I don't get it! Doesn't this completely defeat the purpose? Come on, people!!!

  16. No multivitamin will give you the minerals and vitamins you need. You need to take them all independently plus eat whole low carb foods. Vegetables, vegetables, vegetables, good fats, coconut butter, olive oil and avocado. Low lectin foods, low oxalate foods, good protein ,free run chicken eggs, organ chicken and oily small wild fish. Mackerel, herring, sardines. ( no farmed fish) and stop eating poison like Junk foods, dead grain foods, breads, cereals, sugar, and restaurant foods with all the food additives like msg. If you eat grains, eat gluten free ones, like quinoa, millet,buckwheat, oat groats. Be wise and take control of your health ,today. No matter where you are, you can turn things around. Exhaust your body each day , get those cells dividing and sucking up the nutrients for wellness. Drink only water and teas on your journey, you can do it. Fast, fast, fast, eat two meals a day. I eat my first meat which usually is my super drink at around 1 pm. Then the final meal at around 5 or 6. Do not eat after 6 , no eating snacks. Dead foods inflame your body forcing your body’s to be in a constant recovery mode of controlling its ph level of 7.35. You must keep the acid load on your body to a minimum. You can also make a super shake once a day of these potent super foods which I believe will heal all illness along with your own quantum focus through meditation and deep breathing . I take these in a shake once a day. Spirulina, açai berry powder, matcha tea, wheat grass, moringa powder, ginger powder, turmeric powder. Ashwaganda and maca root powders, kelp powder, all organic. Just a 1/4 teaspoon of each. Also eat fermented foods such as kimchi, or sauerkraut for probiotics. I put about 1/4 cup of one of these in my blender with the above every third day.   17. I had to chuckle at Dr. McGregor’s last sentence (to paraphrase): We may be able to stop the spread of the disease “without getting our testicles chopped off.”

    And who wants to be forced into having their testicles chopped off?😂.

    (I am NOT making fun of those who voluntarily want that kind of surgery!!)
